The 2013 Class is fresh in our minds, and there is plenty of potential talent that may see immediate playing time. We will know more when Spring Practice opens, but I'm curious to see your thoughts on some of the 2011 and 2012 recruits waiting in the shadows. Guys like Jamal Marcus, David Perkins, Se'Von Pittman, and Najee Murray have had a year with the coaching staff. Are they ready to pop? Will Curtis Grant explode on the scene? Somebody always seems to be a surprise talent; who do you think it will be?

My favorite guy from 2012 is Noah Spence, but he had plenty of PT last year so he isn't going to be a surprise. I think Boom Perkins could surprise some people. He is a big, physical guy who runs a 4.4... I think he could make some noise on defense. I think Jamal Marcus could as well. We will need a guy to replace Nate Williams and John Simon. I think Marcus could be a great rush end.
I think Cam Williams could emerge opposite of Ryan Shazier. He has the tools and instincts if he can get a grasp on the scheme.
I like Cam a lot too. But I really think he will be an mlb.
You have to think Cam will be good, he was committed to both of the linebacker U's at one point!
Yes, I believe Marcus arrived with solid nose for the ball instincts as well. A year in the Buckeye weight room and learning schemes should aid a really talented football player.

Josh Perry.
Sevon pittman. This dudes range is ridiculous along the the dline. Only played football for 2 yrs and earned a scholarship to tosu unreal ceiling superb athlete. Great young man.

stark county football
Tommy Schutt is going to be fun to watch control the D-line, Josh Perry has wheels to burn and hits like a brick, Najee when healthy and Blake Thomas at H-back & backup T-end will excel.
Cardale Jones hits the classroom and becomes the next Rhodes Scholar.. I'm cheering for ya man!
Actually this wouldn't surprise me that much, kid already has pretty good grades from what I understand.....he just made a dumb comment.

Good to hear...
....looking back, I feel like this was an awkward exchange.

Man, one thing's for certain....we have a massive amount of talent on this team!!!!
That said, I think Rod Smith figures it out.....too much talent not to.

not that im holding out hope, but the one im praying for is that the light comes on for Curtis Grant.
Bogard
Bogard and Perry. These two (if they don't have injury issues) are going to be great players at Ohio State.
Personally I think Decker will end up being a VERY good RT, especially with another couple of years with Ed Warriner as his coach. His footwork seemed pretty good and the speed adjustment, which is huge from HS to D1, is not something to take lightly. Also i can see the walk on FB (i believe his name is William Houston???) contributing in a few short yardage plays throughout the year.
Nice call, I think so too... Had to fight for the spot as a freshman and just about got it now is his time.

If jacoby boren gets the grasp on center he plays center alot like the 2 brothers that played center for florida under meyer that are now in the nfl.....i believe the pouncey brothers.....he plays center just like they do if he has the mental ability to control line calls it could be interesting and allow linsley to move back to his original position
Biggest surprise ever. Amadeo Della Valle is going to be our new punter.
Bogard and Perry for me as well
I think the biggest surprise won't be listed on this thread.
+1 for the deep thought. ;)

Not a completely prick move by him. My pick is Epitropoulos as the punter. Half joking, but with an offseason of coaching under Meyer, he might surprise some people.
#21 on that list, an I guess U proved Phillips wrong, jus sayin'.
Wood or Perkins?
Well played!
Any idea who this year's water boy will be?
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
I'm very surprised nobody has mentioned Brionte Dunn... Sure he has big talent ahead of him, but he might just be the guy ready to join the party...

I was thinking Warren Ball
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Would you consider Michael Bennett a surprise?
Yes I would. Lots of potential.
~Naples Buckeye - "May God have mercy upon my enemies, because I won't." - General George S. Patton, Jr.
Would love to see some of our young linemen get some meaningful snaps .. Boren, Dobson, and Farris need to get some experience before 2014 gets here
If Curtis Grant suddenly starts living up to his billing that would have a huge impact on the defense. Heck all he has to do is come close to what Boren or Sabino did and he'll make an impact.
I'm also really interested in seeing how Devan Bogard rebounds from his knee surgery. We all know how much Coach Meyer loves him. To make an impression on the coach like that the kid must have serious potential.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest.Civil.War.Analogy.Ever
I'm pulling for Curtis. Guy will be a stud if he can put it together.
Armani Reeves
Schutt and Bennett are going to emerge as play makers during spring ball. I don't think we see anyone at LB aside from Shazier emerge yet maybe Perry
I have a good feeling about Washington and Spence up front and I think J. Perry will be the guy that takes a big leap at LB. I think someone like Reeves or Bogard could make a splash too. On offense I think that potentially a playmaker like Marshall or EzE could do something special and don't be surprised if you see a guy like Dontre Wilson getting time as kick returner. I don't see anyone other than Hall,Hyde,Smith getting many carries and that position seems to be solidified.
