This is especially notable after the stuff with the recent muggings and charles barkley showing up with a bandage on his head on tnt.
I should add that I am being sarcastic here.

Would you rather he kept these kids on the team?
i kindof want this tshirt
yeah House, me too ha ha
Conspiracy theory: Saban had someone set these kids up so he could clear room.
Yes, i'm bored.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Seriously? I hate Saban as much as the next guy, but this is exactly what I would expect Urban to do and every other coach in the nation. This has absolutely nothing to do with oversigning, he kicked off players who committed second degree robbery. I imagine they would have been removed if they were already at 85 scholarships
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I'd like to believe that, but if the player were a key returning star, I think it would have been handled differently.
In this day and age, if it's a star player, the line is "so & so made a mistake, and we'll work with him to make him a better person". And they pretend to be actual mentors and life coaches. If its a backup player? "there's the door. We run a respectable, "clean" program, and don't tolerate this kind of behavior".
which tact actually helps a kid, and which one helps coach Sagan in the arms race?
WB
And the coaches at auburn and arkansas are looking at these kids and wondering if they can give them a second chance.
Frankly, I have to give Saban credit here. All four of those kids were very highly rated recruits I was somewhere they had a 4.5 star average among them. I was talking with a friend the other day and we both kind of assumed they would get a slap on the wrist from the football program and 4 lesser recruits would be cut loose over them. Not that I am applauding him for kicking 4 kids who committed robbery off the team because he certainly should have, I guess I didn't expect it.
Sounds like these players were dismissed from school, so being dismissed from the team is a no-brainer, or should I say an SEC-brainer...........
Are we sure that dismissal from school automatically results in a dismissal from the football team in the SEC?
- But seriously, I love how this story is being framed...as if Saban made the honorable decision to remove these guys from the team. This was a university decision that came as a result of a judicial review.
This is reaching here. Saban did the right thing; whether he does so in the future remains to be seen, but in this instance he's right on. Conversely, if he would have kept the kids on the team, we'd be crucifying him for that.
But Saban didn't DO anything as far as I can tell. Neither wrong nor right.
Spring ball can't start fast enough.
Nine players complete eligibility, three declare early for the draft, four dismissed as criminals. Sign 26. Only seven more cap spaces to clear by August.
I have no problem with Saban doing this just like I had no problems with Urban kicking off Pee Wee Gambrell and Dominic Clarke (or Storm Klein until he cleared his name).
