absolutely, there was no media coverage of ryan shazier at all but he was better than manti teo in a lot of key statistics, he is clearly the better player, teo is like aj hawk if aj hawk was mediocre
Damn, damn, and more damn!!! Will be considered one of the Buckeye greats when his time at tOSU is over. His potential is off the charts. Will be mentioned with the great Buckeye 'backers when he hangs up his cleats at tOSU and takes his game the NFL.

Ok question.. Dude deffinately has the talent to play at the next level, but at what position? Don't think he is quite big enough to play LB in the nfl..
Well, they also said James Harrison was too small but he is so fast and aware off the edge that he negates his size disadvantage. Shazier is taller and possibly faster. Can't wait to see him and Mitchell flying sideline to sideline with Johnson or Cam Williams holding down the middle

At about 2:33 the anouncer says the qb avoids the sack the Shazier comes out of nowhere and gets him. As this happens the announcer says "Oh no he doesn't." That was epic.

He's a 4 year guy. Amazing talent and heart. Will leave as one of my favorite Buckeyes. Still has a lot to learn yet about playing disciplined and within himself. Especially early in the season a lot of bad angles, over pursuits, and missed tackles. Don't take this the wrong way. Great player. All American caliber. Just has some rough edges to clean up before NFL ready.
Shazier has a ton of football speed. I think some of his NFL stock will come from his 40 time. If he comes in a little undersized he'll trend way up if he runs a good time. Kind of like Zach Brown from UNC last year, 2nd round pick of Tennessee.
So sick! SO SICK! Man he's fun to watch! Next year will define him as one of the best ever. I genuinely expect in 2013 OSU will have 2 Heisman candidates...
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
I love that he is such an athletic monster at LB but my favorite aspect of him is his character. Have you ever seen him interviewed? He always seems like the most genuine, happy, sincere and appreciative person you have ever met. I really noticed that when he wore #48 for the PSU game for his highschool friend that past away. Also, he competely sacrifices himself for the team. During the Michigan game his freshmen year he continued to play (even to a fault) despite having a nasty knee injury. He is by far my favorite player on this team. I truly hope he stays for his senior year!
Shazier wraps up pretty well when he doesn't over pursue. and is it just me or does he have a long set of arms? some of his arm tackles turn into tackle for loss.
Ryan Damn Shazier...I'm wishing it was late August right about now after watching that video.

He has that rare quality of being a great kid off the field and being an absolute beast on the field. Hopefully RDS gets the recognition he deserves this year. If not, YOU WON'T LIKE RYAN WHEN HE'S ANGRY!!

God, I freaking love Shazier! Not only is he a freak of an athlete but he plays so instinctively as well with that forced fumble at the goalline against Wisconsin being a prime example. I just love the way he freaking flies all over the field. That sack against Penn State . . . my jaw drops every time I see how fast he closes the gap to the QB.
Another fun fact, his old recruiting page for ESPN states that he ran a 4.44 40. Now, granted that's when he was 25 pounds lighter but my guess is that his speed hasn't dropped off that much, if at all. A linebacker that runs a 4.4 40, plays instinctively, and hits like a runaway freight train? BEAST.
As the creator of this video, I want to say thank you for all the comments! Although I can't really take credit for any of this, the player definitely makes or breaks a highlight reel and Ryan, without a doubt, had plenty of impressive moments this past season. Like others have alluded to, fans respect him because of the way he plays in addition to his demeanor and attitude towards the team, he is not a "look at me guy" and never has been. Looking forward to his junior campaign, can't think of a better guy to have mentor the newcomers in Mike Mitchell and Trey Johnson...Going to be fun this year. Kick some ass, Ryan.
Good find. Don't think it was a whiff, looked more life Lewan just didn't make an effort to try to block Shazier. These are things that NFL coaches probably will never see, but can be telling.
That was good. Lets play football!
i'm the child in the back seat screaming-are we there yet,are we there yet.this off season is tough-feel like i'm serving time
knucklehead
Shazier is awesome. One of the best in college football.
I love that play against the Cal QB over towards the sideline.
I was at the Cal game and saw that play. The whole Shoe erupted!
BEAST MODE
I hope we have him for 2 more years.
Another reminder that the Heisman Committee invited the wrong 'backer to New York last December
Ryan Shazier: the linebacker Manti Te'o wants to be when he grows up.
absolutely, there was no media coverage of ryan shazier at all but he was better than manti teo in a lot of key statistics, he is clearly the better player, teo is like aj hawk if aj hawk was mediocre
I would not trade RDS for Te'o but he's easily a top 5 LB this year.
Heisman worthy, no, very good, yes.
Ryan Shazier=Ohio State's greatest linebacker...EVER.
Ryan Shazier can win the Heisman.
Too soon to say that.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Cal's running backs disagree with you.
that makes me pumped up for football season...too bad its forever away

Awesome clips. I forgot how many times the announcer kept saying Sha-zer in the Wisky game.
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
Matt Meeline sucks.
Ok question.. Dude deffinately has the talent to play at the next level, but at what position? Don't think he is quite big enough to play LB in the nfl..
its one of those well never know, he could play lb undersized, he could play safety, im just gonna enjoy him while i can, hes something special
Well, they also said James Harrison was too small but he is so fast and aware off the edge that he negates his size disadvantage. Shazier is taller and possibly faster. Can't wait to see him and Mitchell flying sideline to sideline with Johnson or Cam Williams holding down the middle

He's only about 15 pounds light. Plenty of time to put on the weight.

hes such a beast! cant wait for football! especially with this class we just signed!
Wow.... I forgot that he was EVERYWHERE!! Nice clips, good find man.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
When Shazier hits you, you stay hit!!!
Looks like Jack Tatum blowing people up.
D. Anthony
Why does it have to end?:( Can't believe he has two more years left!:D
In Urban we trust. That is all
He has one more year left unless we get really lucky.
With the Bucks off probation, the publicity will be back and he will be recognized like all the greats before him at that position.
you never know he could be a program guy
I hope you're right.

Spot on and honest accessment. He keeps getting better all the time and will be scary good this coming season....

Boy he really has a knack for stopping the ball carrier In the VERY spot he makes first contact. He is like a goaline wall!
After these highlights, I think he deserves an offical upgrade from "RDS" to "RMFS".
"Leave...Your...Mark..."
without a doubt. I also think after watching that pick 6 againt PSU he should stick with #48.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Is it September yet?

I like to hope 3. Braxton, RDS and Hyde
In 2013 all the Heisman candidates will be buckeyes
no no no
In 2013 all Buckeyes will be Heisman candidates
Thanks for reminding me we have to wait nearly 7 months. :/
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I don't think Coach Fickell has done enough developing this player and should be fired...
someone didnt get it
Apparently not. However you did, so plus 1 to you my friend.
You forgot to use the sarcasm font :)
Wonder if Kiper blows him up this preseason?
Man if Grant could just get it together...

We see so much high school film with kids competing with and dominating an overmatched opposition...
this looks very similar.
Ryan 'The Relentless' Shazier! Wait until he puts another 10lbs on. He'll be wrecking fools even worse.

love watching that tape.
favorate part is the fact we pryed that kid up north.
heres your sec. speed beeeeeeeitch.

It's crazy to think that this guy was only 19 or 20 years old, and he is out there wrecking cats like a grown man.
Thank you for sharing that. That was awesome!
Was that not Lewan whiffing on that 4th and 3 in the game? (a little before 3:30)
Good find. Don't think it was a whiff, looked more life Lewan just didn't make an effort to try to block Shazier. These are things that NFL coaches probably will never see, but can be telling.
