Roger Lewis

One time 2012 commit from Pickerington Lewis was found innocent of crime yesterday. By no means do I think he comes back to OSU but what happens to a kid like this? Torrence from Canton South/ Massillon comes to mind.

Its one of those tricky situations in terms of how to feel. If he was innocent then I am happy for the kid and the judicial system as a whole. If he was not, then clearly thoughts would be more negative. Its difficult on what thoughts about this should be on a personal level; however when it comes to where he may end up (assuming he is still in playing-shape) I believe he will end up in the MAC. Maybe at Akron or Toledo. If not, D1-AA level at Youngstown State or an equivalent. Don't think there is any chance he gets to OSU, but definitely could see him in the MACtion.

I hope he gets to play college football, now. I agree that the MAC would be theway to goand maybe transfer to a B1G school after a productive season or 2 if he chooses.

There would be too much negative publicity for the player and the school if he came straight to OSU now. Just for himself he needs to separate him and the accusation as much as possible and the spotlight of OSU is not the place to do that.

Its good to be the king

Well I doubt he would start at MAC and then transfer up because of the lost year.  Could go JUCO and transfer up.  Depends on how likely it is that he thinks he can get back to being a D1 prospect.

Dude was a playmaker at Pick Central......wouldn't be suprised if he goes the JUCO route or plays one year at say akron or bowling green and tries to be a transfer to the buckeyes.......

As stated, right above your post...no way he would go to a MAC level school and then transfer within D1 where he would have to sit out more time.

Hes 19, and never attended college, his most viable (really only) option at this time is JUCO and then signing with a D1 school that he intends to stay at period. I am not 100% on this, but I do believe grades were a concern also, I doubt he's been focusing on school while going through this trial.

He was also recruited by Tressel/Fickell and although found innocent on one charge and mistrial on the other, he was implicated in one of Urban's absolute no's, mistreatment of a woman.

He stands 0% chance of ever donning scarlet and gray

Not saying he ends up here, but saying he has 0% chance of donning scarlet and gray is definitely not true. You claimed he was implicated in one of Urbans "absolute no's, mistreatment of a woman." How is this case any different than Storm Klein? Storm was allowed back onto the team after being found innocent.

Again, I too doubt he ends up a buckeye, but he was found innocent just as Storm Klein was. So if Urban wanted him for his FOOTBALL talents (assuming he qualifies academically) then I'd imagine he wouldn't hold this against him, and if he did he's be setting quite the double standard

Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

There are a few differences between the cases of Lewis and Klein.

1. Klein was already part of the program, had put his time and effort into the program. Lewis is not part of the program.

2. Klein wasn't found innocent, the charges for misdemeanor domestic assault were dismissed. Lewis was found innocent on 1 of 2 felony counts of rape, the 2nd count was declared a mistrial due to a hung jury. So long the possibility of a retrial exists, I doubt many D1 schools, especially ohio state would take a risk. A retrial likely wouldn't happen until summer time at the earliest.

Again, Meyer didn't recruit Lewis when he was a senior, it was Tressel/Fickell. Lewis had known academic issues and that left him to re-open his original recruitment to schools such as OhioU and Bowling Green.  Generally a top flight athlete with questionable academics doesn't land in the MAC, schools like WVU or $EC come to mind.

I hardly see it as a double standard, that Meyer and staff don't offer Lewis a scholarship and let him join the program.

I stick to it, 0% chance. No way his name has even been mentioned inside of the WHAC this week.

Whatever happens as far as a playing career good luck to the kid going forward.

Case isn't over yet. He was acquitted on one of the rape counts. The jury was hung on the other count and the prosecution could seek to retry him. It would be a waste of money to do so, but high profile cases like this generally get pushed by prosecutors as far as possible.

I would expect another trial.
