Always given more value than it deserves, but interesting to follow nonetheless. Feel free to post any thoughts about Buckeyes or otherwise. Fragel put up some solid numbers, amazing that despite only one year as an Olineman he will be drafted. Denard ran slower than a lot of other people, including Usain Bolt. And I think it is time to start talking about Big XII speed, the top 5 WR times were all from Big XII teams.
EDIT: realignment got me, Ryan Swope is from the SEC now. Still 4 of 5 isn't bad considering he has only been in the SEC one year.

Can anyone post the numbers put up by Buckeyes?
Also, what did Denard run?

According to that a 4.43
Stoneburner ran 4.65, solid for a guy who is planning on staying at TE.
Fragel had 33 reps on the bench which is the best for a guy projected to play tackle.
Boren put up 25 reps, solid but the Wake FB put up 36.
someone said tavon austin ran a 4.25. not sure if that's actually true or not, but one for the little guys
NFL.com says 4.34
4.25 was the unofficial time. Marquise Goodwin has the fastest overall right now with a 4.27.
"Robinson posted an unofficial time 4.34 seconds in his first attempt at the 40-yard dash, followed up by an unofficial 4.45 on his second attempt."
-NFL.com
"Anything less than flagrant is just playing grab ass!"
Yeah not even the fastest 40 at the combine and he claims he could beat Usain Bolt. What a joke!
Total bummer that Simon is sitting out the physical part of the combine. That just can't help him.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Yeah, I was hoping he would break the bench record.
I'm not real happy they just skipped Zach Boren's 40 to replay Montee Ball's.
What did Ball run?
4.62 I believe
They showed his first one and he ran a 4.92. Lets be honest a tailback is more exciting to watch run than a fullback the second time.
Why would the bengals meet with geno smith?
Because you never know what could happen, every team meets with everybody.
say, for example, the Vikings got stupid and offered Adrian Peterson for Dalton and a 2nd rounder. You'd have to jump all over that, which means you'd need to draft a QB.
you have to evaluate everybody because you never know what kinds of opportunities will arise.
Boren ran a 4.9/40 fwiw
Thanks. Not awful actually
Its not good. It's approaching offensive lineman speed. Heck, I'm 41 and I still run a five flat.
you'd like a fullback to be in the 4.7 area.
that said, I don't think it matters. Somebody is going to want a fullback without wasting a roster spot, and Boren is perfect for that because his mindset allows him to contribute on special teams. He's one of those guys whose value on the field is just higher than his measurables.
I think he goes late but he does go to someone and I think he sticks as a special teamer and goal-line blocking fullback.
It seemed like most of the projected full backs were running in the 4.8-4.9 range. Honestly, some of the RBs were in the same area.
Looks like the official time has been amended to 5.00. As someone said, not ideal, but I think people knew that he didn't have great measurables. I would be surprised if he gets drafted, but he'll get a shot as a free agent, especially with more teams running option games, having a kick out blocker is crucial and Boren knows how to do that as well as anyone.
Ball ran 4.6
Ball finished with a 4.66 and Le'veon Bell ended up with a 4.60 after measuring 6'1" and 230. Have to think that helps his draft stock.
i cant believe the offensive lineman from arkansas pine bluff ran a 4.65 unofficial which was later a 4.71 official. the kid was also top 5 in bench press reps. theres always a guy that comes from nowhere during the combine
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Wait...what happened to Mariotti making these guys "super freaks" like everyone claims? Seems to me he didn't work any miracles for these guys at the combine.
Stoney was running high 4.4's under Litcher..allegedly.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
Stoney was also 6'5" under Litcher. Mariotti must be making these guys shorter and slower...
No relation to OSUFORLIFE...
Stoney was also 6' 6 and 240 but you see how those numbers were skewed. With all of the recruits that have been running sub "4.4's" according to the recruiting sites one would think that college slows these guys down. That or everyone fluffs their numbers
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
I think it's possibly the equipment used to determine the times? Using a more accurate system for the combine maybe like they do in the sparQ camps for high schoolers. Maybe the lower measured times were inaccurate & these are more accurate?
4.65 is about a 4.4 hand timed. Also the surface makes a huge difference. I have heard Indy is somewhat soft, do it on a track or some other harder surface and you'll be faster.
Hyde will end up running in the 4.6's instead of 4.4's next year mark it down.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
At least
I mean Urban's teams at Florida were notorious for the ridiculous exaggerations on their 40 time board. Pretty sure it's mostly to help with recruiting, which is fine with me if it works haha.
Those times have to be the best times ever for the player. Must have been running on turf with the wind at their back.
Or they were just hand timed
I don't believe it that Hyde was ever a true 4.4, something that we've discussed here before. I'd guess more in the range of 4.55-4.6
I'd say Hyde has to be running something close to a 4.6
Buckeyes at the combine:
Great pic.
damn, this pic just pumped me up
Heard a report the Boren looked great in drills? Anyone now of anything?
I watched most the day but they often cut away to the announcers so didn't get to see that much of Boren.
He was a little slow in the 40, but I did see several pass drills and he looked faster in those. I think he plays faster than he runs.
he looked good in the pass catching drills. Nice cuts, good hands, good adjustments to the ball. He had one longer pattern slanted toward the sideline where a combo of his not great speed and a not great pass from the QB put the ball out of normal reach. They were supposed to catch the pass, turn sharply without going out of bounds (tough cut if they ran the route at the correct full speed), then sprint up the sideline to the end zone.
typical Boren- he dove for the out-of-reach ball and caught it. His momentum carried him out of bounds, but he popped up and did the sprint anyway. Full effort.
a surprising number of guys don't give full effort on every drill and "cheat" the drills by lowering speed to make it easier or rounding corners, things like that. I think his effort showed what his college tape will show- you're going to get a guy that gives you everything he has and will find a way to contribute.
the speed is a little worrisome, but I think he's about where he was in NFL thoughts before the combine still. He might have surprised a few folks with good hands.

Was it ever mentioned on 11W what exactly Nate did, or did not do, to not be mentioned during the Senior activities and celebrations this year?
Just curious.
Reid Fragel:
Weighed in at 308.6 lbs, height is 6-7 1/2.
Fragel posted a 5.14-second run in the 40-yard dash, a 7.62 run in the three-cone drill and a 4.68 shuttle run.

I'm not sure what you guys will think of this, but I thought some of you might be interested in hearing Manti Te'o's Combine interview:
Not OSU related, but I thought the times of Missouri receiver TJ Moe were bizarre. He was the slowest WR in the 40 with a 4.75. But then was the fastest at the 3 cone drill, 20 yd shuttle, and 60 yd shuttle. Not sure if he just had an off day in the 40 or just has incredible lateral speed, but that combination is weird.
Hankins ran 5.13 unofficially (which as we saw yesterday could mean that he is a full tenth or two slower, or could be almost right on).
Nate Williams with a 4.88. Very solid for a guy his size. But not much faster than Shariff Floyd who weighs about 50 pounds more. Nate also jumped 35" which is really a great showing.
Sabino with a 4.69 unofficially, hopefully that holds up.
