Manziel suing for infringement?

Anyone else see this? Now manziel and his new 'company' is suing for infringement on his nickname. Some guy was selling t-shirts saying "Keep calm and johnny football" (original), and now Manziel is suing for damages.... First not going to classes and now this? Starting to piss me off right now. This is ridiculous. (non-pay/insider article).

A lot of talk about a guy who has no future in the NFL.

6'1 200-looks about 5'9 195. Void of any real arm strength and not big enough to take the hits the NFL will deliver.

JMAN2 Enterprises is his company he started I can't wait for him to get taken down a few notches trying to make it in the NFL. Sorry Timmy Tebow 2.0 nobody wants you playing quarterback.

Question: Wouldn't this violate his amateurism if he was recieving money?

Which would violate his eligibility.

No NCAA said he would be allowed to keep the money he would win.

It's another loophole created for an SEC player.

  1. Have someone create and sell a product using your likeness.
  2. Let them sell for a while to make profit.
  3. File a lawsuit against said person.
  4. Settle out of court (i.e., split the profits).

Thank you, I hate it when people c like redshirt freshman aren't really sophomores. He's not the first sophomore to win the heisman. The others handled it much better... Tebow is one of the most famous college players of all time and he styled on campus. So did many many others...

Yea, I just feel that this is going to get so much bigger, and his ego is going to be so inflated, that he is going to flop next year because he thinks he is entitled to win now. But only one way to find out, and that is to wait, which royally sucks!

I wasn't trying to be arrogant and one-up a fellow 11w member, but I just don't know why all of his hype really grinds my gears.  I just feel that the media just inflates and inflates his ego.  With his off-season, which involved multiple sporting events that included tickets that are pretty expensive, I just feel like people are turning the other cheek to his actions and he may have opportunities to get away with more and more.  Not saying that he has committed any wrong-doings, but it just raises suspicions.  Anyway, I guess me calling him a red-shirt frosh is my way of trying to bring him down a level...

Also, he's taking his classes online this semester (READ: Someone else is taking his classes), so he's really only on campus for practice and games.

I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.

The most interesting thing about this news, to me, is the NCAA's decision to allow this. It contradicts their stance in a much bigger lawsuit: where former players are suing for a share of the profits from TV and video games using their likeness, which the NCAA licensed and profited from.

If the NCAA believes it is perfectly fine for Manziel to sue for damages in this case, how can they possibly do a complete 180 in the other case?

Who came up with "Johnny Football?" I'm sure he didn't and therefore should have no rights to it at all. It was something his Aggie faithful coined, along with "Manzel Mania."

The story would be better if Manziel had been Johnny Football while building his legend in high school, but the truth is the nickname is an Aggie invention.

Maybe the person who actually coined the phrase can sue Johnny for stealing his/her great idea.

I am all about Championships and this is the kind of distraction and overexposure that hurts a team. A&M had a great year last year and some think their on the rise. While that still may be true I'm starting to think this kind of stuff will not bode well for them in the coming season.

Because they wouldn't let me go for 3!

I for one, living in Texas was grateful to see A&M bitch-slap Texas when they left for Sec. But I have to say Johnny is way to big for his britches and I hope Bama or LSU or another team punks him so hard he wishes he stayed with baseball.
