Three missed opportunities and two violations...but I managed to stay eligible.

I know it's a little old, but a buddy of mine forwarded this to me after asking whether the NCAA could investigate Johnny Football's casino winnings. My buddy suggested that it would be possible (not that this actually happened) for a booster to sit down at the poker table with Johnny Football and lose hands to him on purpose, thereby funneling money to him via poker chips at a casino.
This question stems from the recent article stating that the NCAA has closed the loophole regarding allowing Johnny Manziel to collect damages regarding his lawsuit against the guy selling "Keep Calm and Johnny Football" t-shirts.
Kids will always find ways to break the rules, and the governing body will always write new rules on top of the previous ones to close the loopholes...thereby creating an endless cycle.

I'm very curious where the cream cheese and bagels rules came from and what injustice they were created to prevent.
Interesting to play along, but the moral of the story is better safe than sorry. When in doubt, ask.
I had two violations (accepted a ride home from the coach and reduced my credit hours), but was able to stay eligible based on my honesty. I had two missed opportunities as well (loan from a family friend and getting paid for giving football lessons).
Basically, I could see how it could definitely happen (a booster poker player losing on purpose to the football star). It gets really sketchy when gambling is involved.
I just realized there are more than 10 total questions if you play again. That was unexpected. I did not know that the school could buy a Pay-Per-View movie for the athlete's hotel room the night before a game.
Damn it, I'm suspended for a game.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Let's just say I'm glad the NCAA didn't probe into my college team.. as we woulda been violated like girly men.
How firm thy friendship..
0 violations and 1 missed opportunity... It's been 6 years since my last compliance seminar at OSU. Guess they drilled it in my brain.
That's awesome. What sport did you play?
No death from bath salts this time Johnny!
Oh yea first round draft pick in the NFL!
I wisely turned down the following:
- Coach paying for my family's hotel room.
- Clothing discount
- Car dealership using my name for a contest
- Going to NYC 3 days before the game
- Lawyer to represent me to agents
Missed opportunities:
- Loan from an old family friend.
- Off campus rent and food.
- Pay per view movie in hotel.
I couldn't turn down home cooked food and sorority girls wearing my face on a t-shirt. :)
