Maryland will pay the price for leaving the ACC. Rutgers isn't mentioned.
Question: Will this gavel nail the door shut, on other departures from the ACC?

This is no where near the final adjudication of this matter, but only a decision on whether Maryland could even be sued by the ACC. There is a long way to go with respect to the outcome, especially whether $50 million exit fee is reasonable, and not punitive in nature. I am pretty sure that no one (not even Maryland) expects them to be able to walk away without any payment, it is going to be the final amount that will determine how many walk away.
As GNESQ1 points out, this does not at all mean that Maryland will pay.
This dismissed Maryland's attempt to have the case tossed out of court. The case itself still has to be heard before any decision is rendered.
The other thing to consider is that a Delaney-led raid on the ACC could, in part, ward off the suit against Maryland. Should the B1G pick up UNC, UVA and GaTech, and the SEC and/or Big XII come in and take two or three more schools, the ACC will die, and the point of an exit fee could become moot.
They're going for the ACC's jugular. The only question is whether the ACC can do anything to stop it (or even if it wants to).

I think that's definitely part of Jim and the B1G motive. "Hey guys, we'll foot the bill for your exit fee." Meanwhile he takes enough members to have them all vote to waive/minimize the exit fee OR we complete blow the conference up and there is no one to have to pay to exit from.

This was just deciding whether the ACC has standing to pursue the lawsuit, so there's a long way to go on this one. Not to mention that this decision could be reveresed on appeal
If we get UNC, UVA, and Ga Tech I think we should just go the whole 10 yards and get Kansas, BC, and either Duke, Vandy, or Missouri. I could even live with FSU or Clemson (if they could get around that AAU debacle)
Maryland should claim that they have issue with Notre Dame joining in all sports besides football, and use this as a cheap out.
Notre Dame is a joke. To be honest i don't even want them in the B1G anymore. I'd rather have UF in a heartbeat.
