The only connection to there being central time zone schools added is to make the time zones equal, which is ridiculous logic. I still think they'll come from the east, the schools the B1G (UVA, UNC, and GT) likes are in the east.

The next team in should be UVA. #16 is up for grabs at this point
I tend to agree with 703 and Partisan on this. Adding a central time zone school does very little for expanding the TV market footprint unless you move south. And, there are no schools in the southern central time zone that have been in the expansion discussions/prognostications.
east: west:
osu nebraska
Mich wiscy
psu Msu
maryland Iowa
rutgers northwestern
indiana Illiniois
purdue minnesota
This is my vote for new alignment. Its apparently going to be geographically oriented. I realize that a great majority of the predicted champs will come out of the east division with osu mich and psu, but i also like the divisional races.
I think that lineup fits well geographically and competitively.
However, assuming you protect the Michigan-Michigan State game with a protected crossover, that lineup really limits the access to playing Michigan for the western schools.
I think the other setup would be to keep the Michigan and Michigan State in the East and send Purdue to the West. Fewer schools would miss playing Indiana or Purdue if they had a protected crossover.
I like your idea so that Indi-Pur could be a crossover.
Unfortunately, the competitive piece would slant even further east. I still think they will split NW & Ill so they sew up Chicago - would make sense to leave Ill with "Leaders".
Who would have to play Nebraska & Wisconsin in the protected crossover??
I'm sure UM will cry about the Little Brown Jug so they can keep Minnesota as their guaranteed crossover win
It was brought up on ESPiN's B1G Blog that not all teams would play protected crossovers. I believe MSU/scUM was directly referenced; they would play a protected crossover but no other teams would. That could probably be applied to Purdue/Indiana or Illinois/Northwestern as well.

Sounds like a bandaid and a bad idea. Unfair to those 2 schools while the likes of Minnesota and Indiana are out wandering around. What do you think?
