Why we should never get upset over anything ESPN says ever about anything.

I saw this yesterday and was in total disbelief. This is what counts as journalism these days. They actually dared to make the connection that the flak Cutler received in the NFC title game for being taken out of the game in 2011 somehow had a far reaching impact on another QB in another game several seasons later. This is the company people on these boards get riled up about? Joke journalism at its finest. I suggest to any of you out there that read anything related to ESPN to ignore anything they say about any team you  like-positive or negative. Without a doubt, this is the most foolish thing that has ever come on the airwaves from that 'news outlet'.

Rant over.

Everyone remembers what the E in ESPN stands for right?  That said, TRB only tries to watch ESPN if there is a sporting event on.  If Dan Dakich is on, the mute button goes on.

The screen shot is perfect too because she has that look that just screams she's about to say something like "I'm like really smart at sports and I think that it is Jay cutlers fault because he's KCav's baby daddy and she's like a total jerk so its Jay's fault"

And of course all of the crusty old weird dudes on the set would be like "Oh my, pretty blonde woman, excellent points!"

God I hate ESPN. Look man, I'm a huge Bears fan and an even bigger Cutler fan so I'm biased here, but of all the things to blame on Jay, is this really one of them?

Just curious but how do you feel about Lovie Smith being fired? He is from the town I lived in in Texas, Big Sandy and I got to meet him a few times. He would come home and do coaching clinics in nearby towns like Gilmer where I worked and he's a really good guy! Very good coach! He was one hell of a football player at Big Sandy too! I think he was their running back?

I was a fan of the guy. I get his firing as well. He had a really hard time delegating and there always seemed to be a problem between him and whatever OC the Bears employed. He was an awful talent evaluator and wasn't great with the clock\challenges but he had an awful GM for much of his career and always got the most out of his 1-3 Superstars and 51-49 mediocre players. He always coached his guys up and no team he ever had quit on him. I wish he'd have gotten the chance to finish out his deal but I get that a change was needed.

On occassion I may catch the last half hour of Cowherd on TV while taking a lunch break...more so now that TBS moved American Dad up an hour and put in According to Jim and surprisingly Cowherd is the lesser of 2 evils...and he brought this same thing up yesterday on his show when talking to Lomas Brown. His point, though, was basically asking Lomas if it's fair that everyone treated Cutler so poorly knowing that if RG3 was taken out, he'd be given a break? The answer isn't important. It's more about the subject...is ESPN pushing this or did they take what Cowherd said and try to run with it as far as they could?

I certainly would agree with the principle of your statement, and normally would not defend the network that celebrates a backup QB's birthday on air. Side note: how hilarious, and unsurprising, is it that you take a random screenshot and catch "Tebow" on screen? Although they are not going about it in a great way, I think they raise a good point. Okay, they did in a typically ESPN-absurd way. But, I think it is a topic worth discussing and Nate Jackson did it justice on deadspin.

There are numerous examples of reasons to ignore ESPN and their analysis, like their actual discussion of whether "RGIII is a cornball brother or not."  And yes, I'm laughing out loud at how they found a way to frame the discussion as if Jay Cutler is to blame.

And I get it. The guy is a bit of a tool and comes off sometimes as someone you want to punch in the face but here's the hypocrisy shining itself through. They absolutley adore Timmy T because he just wins games. Ignore atrocious passing numbers and look soley at wins! One gander at Jay Cutler's record as a startwe should afford him the exact same treatment under their own set of circumestances. Jay isn't a likeable guy if you want warm and cuddly but the guy wins games, sometimes pretty, sometimes not but always makes enough plays to win more games than he loses. Tim Tebow is heralded as a winner but even though he wins more, Jay Cutler gets....blamed for RGIII's injury. What a world!

I don't mind Cutler at all. People read way to much into his expressions, and attitude. Oh noes! He yells at his offensive line for being incompetent! Shame on him!

I'm still mad that I won't be getting a Eagles vs Bears NFC championship game. :/

The fact cutler is alive after his time in the Windy City is a testament to his toughness and ability to take a hit. Cutler gets a lot of flak for being who he is...he's not a media darling. He's a football player. I'm not a bears fan, but I have respect for cutler. He gets hit more than any qb I've ever seen. And I'm not talking a late shove as he throws the ball. I'm talking full force slobber knockin' shots. They want to talk about how he didn't go back in that game. How about the game this year when he was obviously knocked bassackward, got up and finished the half. Then being pulled with a concussion. Cutler has the tools to be one of the best in the league. He just has no help, and there's nothing standing between him and the weekly prison style beatin he takes on sundays. I like cutler. He can be a real nancypants sometimes. But dude is a tough customer.

This topic is the exact reason why they say this stuff on the air. You saw it, and now you're talking about. Thus, dumb or not, the choice to air that "news" was a good one.

And this my friends is yet another reason why you shouldn't watch ESPN except for when games are on. And if the commentators are complete garbage in the game you're watching (like Dan Dakich, among others), turn down the volume.
