We don't normally get much in the way of updates because I think the staff waits until they leave campus to talk to them. Only way we get an update before then is if he does what Worley did.
It's generally understood that unless someone within the family is leaking the info or he is tweeting, that information will become available after his visit. Reporters and analysts wait until he is off campus.
Appreciate the knowledge guys!! Didn't exactly know how that worked!! Sorry in advance for wasting anyone's time .Just hadn't seen anything over on Bucknuts or here,so I thought i'd throw it out in case anyone had heard!!
Haha I was just about to post that. You know we are obsessed with football when we are blesses with such a nice weekend and our first thought is "this will help snag Vonn Bell."
lol, finally I got one of my messages faded from downvotes. Geesh, peeps getting their panties in a bunch over a joke haha. But I, like most would gladly tell Gore to Phuck off if I ever saw him in person.
Perhaps his brother is saying that he might just have to move to Columbus because he (the brother) is having an awesome time also. He also tweeted that he was looking for a sorority party-yeah, good luck with that. This is the first weekend of formal sorority recruitment, so those sorority girls will be busy at the houses until pretty late tonight.
Per Trey Johnson on Front Row Radio with Dave Biddle VonnBell was hanging with Jalin Marshall a lot & Bell is leaning towards Ohio State.
He put that out on thursday (Sorry if someone already posted it previously) So maybe we were already sitting in a good spot before the visit, and as all indications are pointing towards the positive side... I'm starting to think he may be a Buckeye when it's all said and done...
Update here from my sources----the visit is going FANTASTIC....if Osu doesn't get Bell they can look at themselves in the mirror and say they did everything in their power to land him....coaches, players, fellow recruits, fellow recruits' parents; everyone is on this
Thank you for the information. Good to hear. Whether you win or lose, you feel better about the outcome when it was your best. Now we know Vonn Bell knows what we're all about. It's up to him now. He's got a tough decision with no wrong answer, just a better one.

There are parents of recruits and players on here. 2 weeks ago, A parent of a player supposedly transferring, came on here to clear the air. Kids do see/hear what is said about them. Especially with 11W being the best TOSU site around!
Definitely understand that. It would be naive of someone not to think that parents of recruits or players would be on here. Or the players/recruits themselves on here. I was laughing more at the way Alex said it rather than the fact that parents were helping (throwing the whole kitchen sink in a sense). Thought that was humorous that is all. I like the fact everyone is helping to recruit these kids as they will be together for the next 3-5 years.
Yeah, he and his family had dinner with Urban and chatted with Archie Griffin, his hosts are RDS and Braxton, it's obvious they are giving him the red carpet treatment.
Ditto that - I think we're all so wrapped up in this commtment we're overthinking comments made in <140 characters. You could read it "OSU is making a good push... to close the deal." Which, of course, wouldn't indicate we were "behind" anyone at all.
Not that it isn't possible, but I have a bad feeling about our chances if he gets through this weekend uncommitted, and has an in-home visit w/Saban and an official visit at Bama yet to go (I'm discounting Tenn even though everyone keeps saying we shouldn't). That's a whole lot of face time with the head coach of the 3-time Nat'l Champions and a great recruiter in his own right.
Absolutely Buck, I agree with you! One of those wait and see situations! I'm hoping for the best as well. Would love to have a playmaker like him in our secondary.
Agreed... I think we will know for sure what Vonn is going to do after this weekend or early next week. If he commits and cancels his other visits, it's good to go... If he doesn't, I think he's going Bama.
Urban used his in home the night he spent with Vonn and his family at the Georgia State Championships (the night he convinced Vonn to take these visits).
OSU has one visit with Vonn left and that is a Wither's in-home.
Yeah perhaps but I'm thinking we are behind for Bell before the visit so will have to make up a lot of ground on the visit. I still see Bell committing to Alabama, though.
If OState doesn't get a commitment by the end of this weekend or early next week (doubtful), then they are on the outside looking in at Bama. We'll need to beat teams like Bama in the future to get guys like Bell, but it's going to be hard without guys like Bell.
Thought I read on an a thread earlier in the week (probably about Vonn) that Block O was told not to do that- Urbz? Have to keep in mind that here are other very important recruits that have already verballed that are here taking their OVs this weekend.
Does anyone else think Urban and the coaching staff are pushing The Ohuo State? Both Mitchell and Johnson announced their commitments that way and now there is this tweet.
Still think we're fighting an uphill battle but Alex's update makes me a bit more optimistic. I don't think we will know his decision until NSD. I would prefer a commitment this weekend but it doesn't seem likely to me. Hope to see a gray box soon though!
I was at that club, it was the grand opening. Not sure why he would've been denied, I had no problem getting in. They didn't even ID me and im only 18. Not trying to assume anything, but my guess is he would've had to do something wrong to not get in the club.
On an unrelated note, Bradley Roby was at that club last night as well
Haha thank you, not really worried about stickers though. Do have one more peice of info for everyone. I know someone fairly close to the Gibson family (I know, vague, but I'm not getting into details), and they told me that Mom thinks he will be Buckeye. Shelton really loves OSU, but is intrigued by the lack of depth at WR at WVU. Likes the opportunity to possibly play as a freshman
I think you guys are reading too much into what his brother is tweeting. It is not like people think intesensly when they tweet something. When he says Ohio State is making a strong push that just means they are recruiting him hard but put in a different way. Everyone need to calm down.
I'm hearing that Vonns brother really dislikes it when they put tomatoes on his salads even when he asked them not to & that it happened at dinner last night...so, things are really looking bleak! I gotta believe he's all Bama - Saban is super detail oriented & will definitely be making sure that all tomatoes will kept off all salads ordered by Vonn Bells brother.
*/sarcasm done.

His brother seems to be more into the night life than his brothers education. Smh. I know they are kids but sheesh... his little brothers twitter even has drinks at the bottom when hes talking about it. He keeps talking about losing points amd all that. Do you think this has any baring on his decision? Im kind of new to this thing so it could be an over reaction. Lol
Bell's bro is a bit ridiculous. Vonn is about to make one of the biggest decisions of his life and he is worried about the club scene his brother will have in C-bus. Not really what you want a recruit to be focused on if you're a coach.
*conspiracy theory* he tweets this stuff to get OSU in trouble knowing this is publicly viewed and it gets back to NCAA that recruits are being allowed into bars. Thus, getting us into trouble and leaves an open path for Bama and more championships while Vonn is there. Haha *this is a joke btw* lol
His brother is an idiot! Plain and simple and at this point, after looking at his tweets, all he cares about is where his brother, being Vonn Bell can find a party! We had Cardale Jones complaining about how he didn't come to Ohio State to go to school and look at the trouble that caused. Now we are recruiting a kid who is lookin for the best place to party and not the best place to study! Whats wrong with this picture?
Let's hold off on insulting family members of recruits and being too judgmental (Seantrel Henderson's dad didn't apply to this though). Judging people off their Twitter is not fair to them.
Its not far fetched to think a recruit's family reads this...
^^^^^^1000. We are not recruiting their brothers so lets lay off the family. It's just plain rude and not very respectful. I am actually angered and embarrassed by some of the comments in here.
your absolutely right about the family stuff but saying judging people off twitter isnt fair your rediculous. when you put crap on that your "publishing" so if you dont want to be viewed in ppor light then dont write stuff that will reflect on u as such. but again, yes, lets just forget about the brother until bell is at tOSU, then later down the road we can worry about getting vonn in serious trouble. Also, those social networking sites exist to "share" and to share reflects a desire to be judged, and be judged by people who don't know you. if someone is stupid enough to put something boneheaded on twitter im going to judge them as a common fool and i think im within bounds too, and apparently so do 90+% of the people commenting on this thread
And yet, a bunch of us would like you to act classy, take the high road, and post obnixous stuff about their family members in a forum that is not associated with tOSU (I'd prefer nothing posted, but I'll stick to a bit of realism). I'm up for healthy criticism and debate on relevant topics, but family is and should be off limits. Do you really think that behaving in this manor gives you any type of moral highground over the people you are making fun of?
If the guy who downvoted this is Vonn Bell's little brother, we can help! And you could end up a historical figure --- like Billy Carter, Teddy Kennedy, or the Bono kid.
Agree. Besides, if he really thinks the "nightlife" of 97,000 Tuscaloosa is better than the 800,000 Columbus, then he's doing something wrong. Not that it should factor in at all.
Well Saban is coming to his living room monday afternoon, so it's probably now or never (just like almost every person who covers recruiting is saying). He seems to have a very independant personality, and have a quiet confidence about him. He seems to hate all the constant attention as well so I think he commits as soon as he is comfortable with his choice. I don't think he does the signing day surprise garbage, but who knows...
*IMO Saban thought Bell was coming to 'Bama before he decided to take his visits, which is why Saban wants to get to Bell ASAP when he returns from OSU.
He is posting Vonn is unhappy with it. Lol. Yet it hasnt been confirmed out of Vonn's mouth. Says he loves his brother and if he gives all to a program then the least we could do is throw a good party every now and then for him. Smh. Seems like his brother really is living vicariously through him lol. I dunno. At least C. Smith could end up as #23 for us. Sounds close.
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
Thank God I went to Ohio State between 2007-2012 and things have changed. I'm sure if you went back you'd see how things have changed... I would however, like to hear the stories of the old places on campus as they always make good stories to share with the new generation of OSU students and alums. Not trying to call you old here. :)
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
I am old - graduated in 1990. If you saw campus in the late 80's, south High Street would be unrecognizable. The place was littered with bars. They were definitely dives, but that's what made them so great. There wasn't a single upscale place to go like Eddie George's, or places to shop. Your single mission was to drink, and drink a lot. Five to ten bucks was plenty to get you hammered - nickle beer nights, 50 cent long island ice teas - there was so much alcohol in those things, 4 of them made you forget your entire evening, 6 dollar bucket nights at Papa Joe's (my favorite bar of all time - spent 90% of my bar time there, minimum of 4 days/wk .... RIP), dollar gyros at 3 a.m. The only bar left on south campus that I know of is the BierStube. High Street was always PACKED with students. Varsity Club and Out-R-Inn are the only ones left up north. I never did go to the bars north of Lane though. So what is a typical Saturday night for students nowadays? A lot more house parties? High Street is quite limited with places to go out. German Village? Are the Short North and Arena District too far away?
Went to OSU 2000-2005. Visting Columbus the last couple of years, makes me wish I went to school when the new gateway and union were open. But I would never trade in all the south campus bars for that. Panini's South, always packed and my go to spot freshman year, never left alone, it was that kind of place haha. But yea, south campus bars is where the action was at back in the day.
I'm in a similar boat - did my first two years 2000-2002, then opted to "go pro" and didnt' go back to finish my degree until almost 10 years later. Seeing the changes on campus from 2002 to 2012... really amazing how much a university can change and yet remain so much like Home Sweet Ohio State.
I never did go to the bars north of Lane though. So what is a typical Saturday night for students nowadays? A lot more house parties? High Street is quite limited with places to go out. German Village? Are the Short North and Arena District too far away?
I think it varies for most students these days but earlier in my time at OSU I spend a lot more time at house parties on south campus since that was more of the party area of OSU. However, once I mature through school I went up north and went to more bars and eventually settled on just going to Little Bar and drinking with a friend who lived on Norwich.
High Street probably offers a lot more than it did back in the 90's but there is a lot do if you like to shop. However, everything you may want to do will require you to go out to far to Upper Arlington, Lewis Center, Polaris, and other areas.
I never really hung out in the Short North but I'm sure I'll make my way in that area the older I get and leave the campus area. The Arena District was a great place to go watch games at Nationwide or go to concerns at Lifestyles or the basement.
A lot has changed downtown and everytime I go back to Columbus to see the city and campus things change.
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
Papa Joe's oh the good times there. I can remember the floors seeming like a river of beer as numerous amounts of cheap buckets were just dumped on Friday nigts before games. The ritual of game day with a stop at Joe's for Kegs N Eggs! Loved the gyros on High street and the drunken walk to BW3's for a change of pace.
I haven't been back to that part of High St years but old college buddies who have aren't happy about it. I'm told it went from a mecca of afterhour activity for students to a strip mall.
$8 buckets of beer and literally thousands and thousands of willing coeds every weekend, all right there on campus just waiting for you. It was heaven.
If the brother is doing all this complaining about the clubs, you have to wonder what kind of impression he's leaving on Urban Meyer and the staff! You would think that it can't be good if the brother is exerting this much control over the situation! If I were Vonn Bell, I would ask that my brother stay home for my future visits. But then this really seems like a child running the circus!
I'm not sure bell's brother was with vonn last night. Tweets since have looked good and I think chilling with Roby, Braxton, and Shazier ( which is apparently who he was with, and maybe c. Bryant) I would think those few could show him what OSU football and being a member of that fraternity is all about.
If this turns into who's got better "night life" we're gonna lose. The female population of UA is very in tuned and dedicated to the recruitment of FB players. Vonn and his brother will be "taken care of" down here. This is really discouraging man.
Saban is visiting Monday morning? Yeah, we're not getting this guy. Glad the staff is doing everything they can, but whatever good feelings he has towards Ohio State will wear off by Monday and then you have the additional visits.
I'd be stunned (but not moreso than I would have with Quick) if Bell were a Buckeye.
Why would Saban have scheduled an in home visit when Von Bell has scheduled a visit to Bama later in the month? Could it be because he knows he is in a tough competition with Meyer?
Seriously?
He should be looking for a place to study not party? How long do you think it takes to find a place to study? There are so many libraries and great places to study-it isn't a weekend endeavor to figure out. The suggestion that a 18 year old kid moving away from home shouldn't be concerned about what he is going to do for fun is ludicrous.
Let's have a little perspective - please.
I am a law student, not an athlete. However, I did pick tOSU over many other schools. I took visits to each school I was considering. Although the most important factor was academics, I certainly considered what the other aspects of my life would be like. The need to figure out all aspects of C-Bus life is exacerbated when one (like Vonn or myself), is moving from far away. My night life woud have been better had I stayed home in Miami, but academics won out. Though, I would not have attended a school that was in the middle of nowhere. Quality of life matters, when you're 18 that certainly includes cool places to hang out and girls.
Vonn has his own priorities. Based on everything Vonn has said and that the other major competitor is 'Bama, it would seem night life is low on Vonn's list. Otherwise, he would be visiting USC, or UM.
Also @HighBallAce c'mon man, we shouldn't be calling a recruit's family member names.
On a lighter note, watching the brother's play-by-play of this recruiting visit reminds me of watching The Blind Side and the little brother "managing" Big Mike's recruitment. In fact, Saban was involved in that recruitment, too, as I recall :)
You're right. It's rather humorous. I was on this thread last night and it was definitely interesting to watch. I wonder if it's more everyone being jaded from the Tressel years when we would lose out on a top notch prospect at the end nearly every single year so they don't want to put any faith in possibly getting Bell so that they're not disappointed if he doesn't commit or if they really just look at the glass as half empty all of the time. Either way, it created an interesting range of emotion throughout the night.
I love the judgemental comments on family members by folks who must have perfect families. That just cracks me up. I guess if they were on a recuriting trip at 17/18 yoa they'd have everybody in their family in check...F'n laughable! relax folks if he doesnt commit I'm telling you O-State is gonna be alright..Now Support our Basketball team against TSUN...Go Bucks!!!
If you look at Von's twitter account, you'll see he and his bro are quite different in how they carry themselves. Plus, for all anyone knows he is just trying to $&@$ with people's emotions like all of us.
What time is Bell expected to leave. Im guessing if he was going to commit this weekened a. He woulda stayed in last night and talked it over last night with his folks instead of going out and b. Im guessing he would of done it by now. Is he even meeting with urban after the game or anything? Just some thoughts, but heres to good news.
If Bells sentiments about the visit reflect his brothers in any way, then it is my opinion that he was looking for any excuse to not committ to tOSU. There will be others, it would have been nice to have him, but not the end of the world by any means.
Edit*Had a feeling this was going to happen. His talents would have been nice for our Defensive Backfield but oh well. On to the next guy....

Ok guys I gathered some info and based on the latest my final GUESS is that Bell does not end up a Buckeye. If his parents have a greater influence than I think there's still a shot but I don't know if that's going to happen. Ill share the story at a later time but priorities for Vonn may not have been in order IMO.
Alex, you basically said the same thing I did but with a little more "tact!" So I guess my question is, why allow all the downvoting for the folks that said this very same thing?
Edit: It's kind of stupid in that there was even an entire thread devoted to bashing us for calling the kids brother or his family which I never did in the first place, names. I don't consider that to be a derogatory name! My teacher in school would say to us all the time, stop being and idiot! Hell, my coach's would say far worse! I said he was an idiot for how he was tweeting and I'm sorry but the kid was and as you said, the priorities were obviosly not where they should have been. So whoever was saying that the family reads this stuff and it reflects bad on us, isn't it a little more obvious to point out the things being said by creating an entire thread for something that someone simply doesn't agree with?
I haven't complained about the downvoting till the last couple days. I figured it was useless but at this point, it's like being in school where if someone doesn't like your "opinion" your ostrasized for it. I don't think that was the purpose of the entire voting process?
Differing opinions: "I think Vonn is coming to tOSU." "I think Vonn is going to Bama." "I think X should be on our team." "I don't think X is better than Y."
Being a jerk: calling a prospective recruit's brother an idiot. (Family is generally viewed as off limits.)
You can have whatever opinion you want on the word idiot, but you're posting your thoughts on the internet just like the people you are criticizing. Obviously, that opens you up to criticism yourself. Really, this is all about decorum. I want outsiders who visit this forum to think, "Wow, these comments contain some great thoughts," not "Jeez, I hope Vonn doesn't see these comments and think that tOSU is filled with a bunch of jerks."
FWIW, idiot is an inherently offensive word, regardless of it being acceptable to you in some contexts. This is not one of those contexts in which it is acceptable.
Look, I'll agree, my choice of words was poor. However, several others have used far more words to come about the same conclusion. The fact of the matter is, the brother was acting like a jerk! Me saying that is no different than you calling me a jerk for saying it! And for the matter, I don't take what your saying to me as being a jerk personal. I believe I downvoted you in a previous post by accident and I think we both reached a conclusion of "harmony".....lol
I don't know if you personally played sports or not? If you did, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about when I say you've heard far worse than the word "idiot" used by your coachs. I went to a christian school and I heard far worse! That in no way excuses what I said but my point is that don't you think folks are getting a little too sensitive with this downvoting/upvoting crap? Wasn't the whole intent of that feature to stop "trolls?" I wasn't trolling when I made that comment. I've seen some guys really get bashed on that feature simply because they have differing "opinions!" It just seems to me it's getting out of control. Nobody, no matter what they say wants to come on to a website and look at a leaderboard to see where their popularity lies. Seems kinda childish sometimes.
Tried not to be pessimistic myself, and I do think we had a shot by getting him up to OSU, but I've had the feeling he's been drinking the Bama kool-aid for awhile now. I was positive that he was going to choose Bama when he planned to announce, prior to his sudden decision to take visits when Urb dropped in on his last game. Nothing wrong with that though, 3 time Nat'l Champs in the last 4 ys, maybe the best coach in the country and he just so happens to specialize at your position (Secondary).
Ah well, it is what it is! I read someone post on another site that they want Urb to use this to motivate the young safeties we have; I doubt he'd use something like this, but I think if he wants to compare his team to Bama, what a better example than this. Have his safeties comparing themselves to Bell, wanting to prove they're better than Bell. Start a fire in them.
All I have to say is Vonn's brother shouldn't be disrespectful, the way his tweets sounds like he was, to ohio state. Vonn's brother sounds like he has Robert foster's attitude towards the visit. This has nothing to do with Vonn tho, Vonn is his own person and will make his own choice. No matter what choice he makes I wish him luck. I don't think his brother's displeasure speaks for him at all.
To keep in 100 I would say the Ohio State visit was an A they really got my family to buy in what they are building at the #BuckeyeNation "
^Good final review for those upset with him. Just think he was stirring things up a bit haha. Doesn't matter what he thought of it really, ultimately on Vonn. Still think Vonn goes to Bama, though--especially after an in-home visit w/Saban and a Bama official visit yet to go. I'm one of those (dumb?) cynics who felt like it'd take a commitment to OSU on this visit and a cancellation of Bama's visits to lock him in.
When you say troubling, do you mean you found things Vonn said were troubling or what Vonn did last night the staff found troubling like what happened on Neal's visit last year?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
In his defense, I kinda agree with him. The tweet was stupid, but if you aren't 110% commited here, don't waste OSU's time/scholarship. You can half-ass your dedication to OSU football and expect to succeed. While this is an exaggerated view, I only want recruits that really want to be here.
Would this logic apply to Gibson as well? He's talking more & more about WVU & early playing time. Why hasn't he committed? Is he not "110" committed? He's played more mind games than Bell IMO. Vonn has already stated that he wants to take his last 3 visits before making a decision. I want him to be a buckeye just like everyone else, but let's all take off the S&G glasses for a sec. Did we honestly expect him to commit this weekend & tell Saban not to show up Monday? That's wishful thinking!
Agree. I imagine the committed recruits have better knowledge if whats going on than we do. His frustration could be based on info that only the staff and fellow recruits know about right now.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
It happens at every position! You think Barrett is gonna like it if Watson ends up in S&G? He'd never publicly say he's unhappy, but inside he wouldn't like it. It's common. Everybody wants to be the man.
Given what Alex has said a handful of times already in this thread, it sounds as though things happened with Vonn on the visit that is not making the staff too happy. I think Jayme is just reiterating that sentiment. It has nothing to do with whether he wants Vonn on tgis team.
Hey, I agree, if Vonn doesn't wanna be here then on to the next kid. Just don't run your mouth on Twitter. It may have an effect on the next guy visiting.
THANK YOU!! This is what I was trying to say! Dude already said he's taking the visits then making a decision. Foolish to think he would commit this weekend!
down votes for telling some of you things you didn't wanna hear? smh
I'm sure the staff will have a good idea after today of what to expect. They know he's a great player and would be a needed addition to the team. But you better believe they are NOT going to sacrifice a sure thing waiting around for this kid if he's playing games with them.
Urban Meyer has been playing this game a very long time and the last thing I can imagine happening is him getting burned by a 17-18 year old kid.

I'm going on my gut feeling...his parents aren't going to be the ones deciding...Vonn will. At the moment...I'm going with Bama. Sorry if this offends...and I d.g.a.f. about down votes....LET EM RAIN DOWN. I come here for info...don't care about JR High Up and Down votes based on some ones opinions. He seems more interested in Bama at the moment...based on his brother's tweets (who I don't trust) as well as other people like 11W writers (who I do trust). I'll wait and see just like you and everyone else....this is just my opinion...just like Alex's and everyone else.

I feel the same way about the upvoting/downvoting. It was meant to stop the "trolls" not "differing opinions!" Not to mention there is a leaderboard showing who the most popular folks are! How does that stop "trolls?"
In regards to Vonn Bell's brother: look on his Twitter account at the pictures and you'll see Vonn Bell dressed in full Alabama gear. That to me tells what Bell's intentions were from the start.
I really think the visit went much better than what most on here are making out....those tweets by his brother see m to be made more in jest than anything else. With that said, he might not commit to tOSU but I doubt that it was because his visit wasnt one big party.
-the dad said the family had a great weekend, had all of their questions answered and saw everything they needed.
said that vonn's favorite thing is coach meyer and what he has going on here because it reminds vonn of what he has with his hs coach. he likes that relationship and environment. that is the biggest hing that tOSU has going, other than it being a great institution.
coach said it will be a tough decision and he will be meeting with family tomorrow. decision made on signing day
(my note--didnt bell say the relationship was big for him? or was that another?)
Fwiw some commits still think Osu leads... Vonn's parents loved the visit and that matters a lot...ill man up and admit I may have jumped the gun a bit after multiple sources reported the same negative outlook to me, but just giving you all what I hear...until I hear a definitive one way or the other I'll hold out to see what the kid chooses but if I had to predict as of today based on what I know I'd go Bama
I think most of the negative reports we've heard are a result of the brothers tweets - lets keep a on open mind and remiain optimistic about Vonn's recruitment. He is seriously considering OSU and loves Urban. Obviously Alabama is Alabama and it is what it is, but we are right in this one.
Well the negative reports I heard were from two sources I trust that would know. I may have underestimated the power of mom and dad though and most importantly Everett Withers' and his relationship with the Bells

Let's hope during the in-home visit, Saban trips on a rug and accidentally knocks over a plate of PB&Jelly crackers staining their carpet.
At which point, only OSU and TENN shall remain!
Exactly...it's a 17/18 year old kid that probably doesn't even know what pair of shoes he'll be wearing for school tomorrow. It's not a big deal...and I'm so glad you pointed this out (about Alex's sources and the point of not stressing). He either chooses us or Bama...because he probably won't be pulling a Diggs and staying home.

wonder what the negativity was? completely judging this on only a few of those tweets and really nothing substantial but it seems like a bit of a divide happened with some chat between either bell, his brother, or both and current players/commits...maybe something about chatting up bama the entire time or the same redundant SEC crap and not really being too pro OSU... let the dust settle on this one and see what happens i suppose
I have a feeling you're correct about the tweets from his brother. We'll see if it was that or something that happened with Vonn. I'm going with the brother though....not calling him names...just wondering how good his judgment is considering how much he was partying this weekend (seemed to be a BIG part of why he came). But hey....who am I to judge...when I go down to Columbus...I get a little loose that's for sure;-)

By nature I'm a tad bit of a cynic so, like many OSU fans, that cynicism tells us Bell wouldn't choose us, especially after we missed out on Quick. But then I remember our coach is Urban Meyer and that gives me more hope that we may because he's Urban Meyer and his own recruiting brand. Even if Urbz doesnt land him, it does NOT mean he won't land someone as good as Bell in the future and that is comforting. I do hope this isn't the last time this level of furor is caused over a 5* recruit because that would mean we're not getting them, period. The more 5* players we get interested in us the better chances we have. Thats how I look at it anyway.

I think in the end Mom and Dad's influence will win out. I've also read that Withers has the final in-home and if that's true it will be a great win to finish before NSD.
That's all we can do Alex...sit and wait. Hope for the best....I know I am. Having Bell, Burrows, Apple and Lee/Worley (if Worley gets moved there instead of OLB) would make for a nasty Defensive Backfield (not to mention 2014 DB kids too...let the good times roll).

Everything is going great! No it's not.. Yes it is! I need some Lithium stat! It would be great to get this kid and it sounds like TOSU did everything it could to make it happen. Thanks again Alex!
Yeah this has been a up and down day without a doubt regarding this visit! Thank god for Damon Webb committing. Think ur right Alex, time to sit back and hope for the best. (anything more you may know would greatly appreciated!)
I understand that it would be nice to get this kid. He's a good player and you'd like to beat Saban by getting this recruit, but ya know It's really not worth getting so worked up about. Sure, I want him on the team, but 1 safety isn't going to mean the difference between a title or not. We have a really good safety recruit in the fold with Thompson.
I remember a few years back when people were throwing a fit because Jesus wanted Urban to coach Sharrif Floyd and we lost an elite player who was a slam dunk. Granted, it would of been nice to have him, but we had this guy already comitted named Hankins.
Vonn Bell May end up being the greatest safety to ever play college football and Thompson may suck or the other way around. Hell both could be great players or NEITHER could. I know he's a big recruit and a great player. I just don't understand why everyone acting as if he is so crucial to this class.
Plus, our defensive backfield is loaded overall and just getting better with Webb on board for '14 class. If I had to, I would guess that the Bell recruitment is, for many, symbolic in feeling that there is virtually nobody out there we can't get our mitts on, a confidence that really only Bama can boast of right now.
I think it comes down to the fact that a college football national title comes down to such "small" difference 1-3 years prior. Having a level of talent across the board slightly better than the rest makes the biggest difference and wins. Missing out on a few guys like Bell could be the difference in 1-3 years for a NC run, though ONE recruit isn't likely to be that difference, lets say a Bell, Anz, Quick, Dor Johnson combo could be... so I lament each loss adding up to that level of talent.
Party scene IS important... these people are kids who are going to turn into men over the next 4-5 years. Personally, I learned an amazing amount about myself, others, girls, drinking, and socializing by way of the OSU house party/bar scene. It was the single most important aspect of my social education while I was at Ohio State. Having fun, learning how to party responsibly, and having great stories is an important part of education.
Yes, football should be the #1 priority. I certaintly would have approached things differently if I had the potential to make millions in the NFL after 4 years at OSU. However, I don't think recruits being interested in the social side of things is bad. It's too bad the most fun scene is really house parties and it's pretty much deadtime as far as that goes on campus around now.
Totally disagree... It's a distraction and frankly a poor choice in life. These kids are going to do it, I get that, I saw it at college... But no one can tell me that hit is important and a great way to learn life unless you want to learn to be a drunk moron with herpies.
Remember the movie, Johnny B. Goode? The recruiting fight for that kid Anthony Michael Hall played was a bit over the top, but it had a good point about the partying. Yeah youre in college and are supposed to have fun, but you still have to act like an adult, even more so for athletes and especially football players. You get involved in booze, drugs, women and you suddenly realize you're in over your head. One slip up these days can cost you your scholarship. If Bell or any other recruit values their future, they wont even take party atmosphere into account. They're going to be much more interested in how stable the program is, how strongt he head coach is at controlling the atmosphere around the team and how it and the school can get them to the NFL and/or a degree.

Wow...this from SteenSN^^^^ explains a lot. You must have went to Cedarville College outside of Springfield Ohio....where you have to be in dorms by 9 pm...no drinking...or anything for that matter. Sad...just sad to me personally as far as truly experiencing college.
Please don't pass judgment on me...I did all that above in EzE's blog...I'm fine...got a family and still drink (and have a full time job for ten plus years...wow...I must be an exception to the rule;-). I should get checked out for this rash on the side of my mouth though....it never goes away...no matter what cold sore ointment I use...can you help me SteenSN?

You seem to be doing the exact thing you are railing against Steensn for. You are lumping a group of people together and making assumptions about them.
I found the college experience at CU to be great, and we had to be in the dorms by Midnight on weekdays and 1 on weekends. I would maintain that the absence of keggers didn't take anything away from my college experience.
I wouldn't bash someone who went to a state school and I would hope you could do the same in regard to those of us who weren't "truly experiencing college" at Cedarville University.
I said nothing about a group of people, rather activities glorified for what they are not. I went to UToledo and made good decisions. Compared to those who think the night scene and getting hammered is "a great learning experience" I think I've skipped some very unnecessary "learning experiences" that got in the way of things that are important in the real world. Glorifying things that never lead to positive long term learning or growth is silly and leads to more of the same nonsense. It is a self fulfilling proffecy of dumb things needing to be learned how of them not as dumb so that when you are older they don't totally ruin your life.
I'm not binning anyone, I am talking about activities that provide no value other than entertainment and constantly get people into trouble. All types of people do it, there is no bin. From rich girls to the poorest gangsters, it crosses all "bins." I'm talking about the actions themselves which teach no one anything except "if you take it too far you'll cross the line and it could immediately effect your life in a negative way." No one has ever graduated college and wished they drank more and studied less.
All it does is open you up to the things I said clearly said toungue in cheek. It doesn't mean you turn out terrible, but it certainly adds no value to NOT turn out terrible which you implied. It opens you up to clearly unproductive attributes, not guarantees it. You can then take this however you like, I'm not actually worried, but a recruit more worried about the "night life" which opens them up to everything recruits get kicked out of school for is not good. I'm not saying he is, I wouldn't have said anything had you not acted like it helped and was a great thing to learn from. But no one ever failed classes, failed a drug test, beat a guy up, rapped a girl, murdered someone because they focused on football, school, and stayed away from the party scene.
Unless you think said a life lessons are to figure out that those things are more important. It certainly has nothin to do with becoming a man.
I will kindly disagree with you. I'm a senior at OSU in the business school and I will tell you the majority of business students I know who have great jobs are the most social ones. It really isn't about "drinking", it is about socializing. There are a lot of college students who simply don't know how to be outgoing and meet new people. While I'm not saying drinking = success, there is definitely something to be said about learning to approach new people (i.e. job interviews) that you can learn from "going out."
Very true. However, alcohol does always make nerves a little less apparent (at least for most people.) So on a college campus, that's one of easiest ways to take part in such social situations.
I is aid nothing about alcohol being an issue... I talked about the party scene being glorified which is not "having a drink." I have a drink or two, its responcable, it's constrained yet fun. We are not talking about having a drink of alcohol, but rather much more than that. You don't "have a drink" at a club. I'm sure you can point to a few rare example of responcable people being responcable, but we aren't talking about that. W are talking about the typical party scene and what most people get out of it... which has zero impact on becoming "a man." There is no difference in a responcable social life campus to campus fo the most part in a big college town.
Thank you ourhonordefend....all I was saying. This guy gets it...socializing is the most important part about drinking in college. Pretty much my entire point...and I was obviously joking about the ointment and college choice...which most seem to be offended with....what happened to humor folks????

WOW,you bring up a forum question and get down-voted?? How SIMPLE is that??
SCOTTC.
Pretty cheesy.
Although I love when folks pan categories like favorite limbo dancers. They should stay on their twitter accounts and keep that tripe off this site.
That IS getting kinda old to me too!
Or go back to mgoblog
We don't normally get much in the way of updates because I think the staff waits until they leave campus to talk to them. Only way we get an update before then is if he does what Worley did.
It's generally understood that unless someone within the family is leaking the info or he is tweeting, that information will become available after his visit. Reporters and analysts wait until he is off campus.
Appreciate the knowledge guys!! Didn't exactly know how that worked!! Sorry in advance for wasting anyone's time .Just hadn't seen anything over on Bucknuts or here,so I thought i'd throw it out in case anyone had heard!!
SCOTTC.
I would say we are all in the same boat, buddy. Just can't wait to hear SOMETHING on this issue, that is for sure!!
This article doesn't have anything about the visit just some info on Vonn. Its a free article so anybody should be able to see it.

I'm tellin you...this anomaly 65 degree weather in January is gonna help lock up this southern playa.
Anomaly? No, this normal weather for Ohio (wink, wink, nod, nod)
Just as long as he doesn't knnow this is the annual January thaw.

Well this bipolar weather in columbus has been happening for several years now, so I would say it is the norm now.

I know he plays in Georgia, but he lives in Tennesee. I don't think the weather they have is much different from our winters.
I hope I am not understanding you correctly.
Haha I was just about to post that. You know we are obsessed with football when we are blesses with such a nice weekend and our first thought is "this will help snag Vonn Bell."
Sad. Very sad....
Al Gore was right!!

Holy hell why is this on 11W.
Class of 2008
lol, finally I got one of my messages faded from downvotes. Geesh, peeps getting their panties in a bunch over a joke haha. But I, like most would gladly tell Gore to Phuck off if I ever saw him in person.
Thats Vonn's brother who tweeted the above.
What does he mean by "they gonna make me move up here TOO" maybe reading too much into it but you never know ;-)
Perhaps his brother is saying that he might just have to move to Columbus because he (the brother) is having an awesome time also. He also tweeted that he was looking for a sorority party-yeah, good luck with that. This is the first weekend of formal sorority recruitment, so those sorority girls will be busy at the houses until pretty late tonight.
"Ohio State making a good push" ????
This doesn't sound too good at all.
Since when we fell behind someone?
For my own mental health, I will keep my expectation low until LOI.
jbook @jbook37
Per Trey Johnson on Front Row Radio with Dave Biddle Vonn Bell was hanging with Jalin Marshall a lot & Bell is leaning towards Ohio State.
He put that out on thursday (Sorry if someone already posted it previously) So maybe we were already sitting in a good spot before the visit, and as all indications are pointing towards the positive side... I'm starting to think he may be a Buckeye when it's all said and done...
I hope you're right, just want a grey box!
A gray box would certainly ease a lot of anxiety around this place...that's for sure.
Update here from my sources----the visit is going FANTASTIC....if Osu doesn't get Bell they can look at themselves in the mirror and say they did everything in their power to land him....coaches, players, fellow recruits, fellow recruits' parents; everyone is on this
Haha, awesome. Some say it takes a village to raise a kid, here it takes a village to build a champion.
Thank you for the information. Good to hear. Whether you win or lose, you feel better about the outcome when it was your best. Now we know Vonn Bell knows what we're all about. It's up to him now. He's got a tough decision with no wrong answer, just a better one.
Thanks Alex

I freakin love you Alex. Thanks for the update.
All I could do is laugh when I read fellow recruits parents.
Great update Alex
Thts awesome alex let's go bucks.
O'Deez330
stark county football
Yeah, he and his family had dinner with Urban and chatted with Archie Griffin, his hosts are RDS and Braxton, it's obvious they are giving him the red carpet treatment.
thanks alex
Not sure what to make of the "Ohio State is making a good push" quote. Is he inferring that we are behind? Just a thought.
Was wondering the same thing myself
I took it that way too. Not great wording, especially for someone as peccimistic as me when it comes to recruiting.
Maybe he is just saying they are all even and they are making a good push to land his commitment.
Ditto that - I think we're all so wrapped up in this commtment we're overthinking comments made in <140 characters. You could read it "OSU is making a good push... to close the deal." Which, of course, wouldn't indicate we were "behind" anyone at all.
Yep. In this context, it's quite likely that "push" = promote.
Really crossing fingers on this one. Last visits are good but setting the bar is key too. I'm hoping we set the bar too high!
Just trying to be optimistic. I know it'll be tough but nothing wrong with trying to put a silver lining on his recruitment.
Absolutely Buck, I agree with you! One of those wait and see situations! I'm hoping for the best as well. Would love to have a playmaker like him in our secondary.
Perhaps a Silver Bullet lining?
Ahh...I see what you did there!
Agreed... I think we will know for sure what Vonn is going to do after this weekend or early next week. If he commits and cancels his other visits, it's good to go... If he doesn't, I think he's going Bama.
I thought I read Urban will be making an in home visit as well after Saban.
Link? I don't doubt it one bit. I just haven't heard/read anything about it and that would most definitely be welcomed news if it's the case.
Urban used his in home the night he spent with Vonn and his family at the Georgia State Championships (the night he convinced Vonn to take these visits).
OSU has one visit with Vonn left and that is a Wither's in-home.
Thanks for the info, Elastik.
Hopefully everything works out....I know the tide fans are not this obsessed with football like we are.
Go Bucks!
Push, meaning trying to secure the commit. because we don't have that as of yet obviously.
Also
I'm thinking big bro needs to keep it down a bit. It is not his opportunity.
Yeah perhaps but I'm thinking we are behind for Bell before the visit so will have to make up a lot of ground on the visit. I still see Bell committing to Alabama, though.
He also said this
If OState doesn't get a commitment by the end of this weekend or early next week (doubtful), then they are on the outside looking in at Bama. We'll need to beat teams like Bama in the future to get guys like Bell, but it's going to be hard without guys like Bell.
Tend to agree the difference would probably be him not coming for a game but sure would love to have him!
Is he planning on going to basketball game tomorrow? Would love to hear crowd with a 'Vonn Bell' chant like Maryland did for Diggs.
Champions Bleed Scarlet & Gray
The OSU staff is certainly winning over the family....mom loves Coach Withers...more when we hear it
I feel like you keep giving me hope so that I will pay for a subscription to this site.
Thanks for the updates Alex!
Glad I pay so much money for this site ;)
How do you guys see the rest of the class filling out. I feel Gibson is a lock, so could we add Vonn Bell and one more- possibly Corn Elder?
I saw Bell's brother tweeting about not getting into a club last night because of a racist club owner. That cant be good for recruiting.
- Respect the Rivalry -
Link? Edit: Found it
I was at that club, it was the grand opening. Not sure why he would've been denied, I had no problem getting in. They didn't even ID me and im only 18. Not trying to assume anything, but my guess is he would've had to do something wrong to not get in the club.
On an unrelated note, Bradley Roby was at that club last night as well
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Wow, lots of inside info from you lately. Thanks, triv!
At least throw the man a +1!!!!! I got you Triv.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Thanks for the info. Hope the kid is not afraid of competition.
You are absolutely right. There are no racists in Tenn. or Alabama. We lost this one guys.
Doesn't matter that there are racist's in Tenn or Alabama; what matters is what a recruit experiences when hes on the visit.
- Respect the Rivalry -
I'm 34 so I have not tried to get into a downtown club in quite awhile, but are they not 21 and over anymore?
Depends, no point in clubbing unless you are 21 though IMO
i think it was mentioned it was vonn's older brother, who may be of age
I believe that club is 18 + on Fridays
They'd be better off finding a sorority party anyway.
Sorority recruitment (rush) this weekend. Girls will be at houses until pretty late tonight. It has been a long couple of days for them.
Might be tough with it being pledge weekend. Annex houses maybe
- Respect the Rivalry -
Guys check out the tweets Vonn's brother put out 2 days ago about recruiting the south to the north and how urban puts more in the pros.
Thats what I read
Capn, Make It So...
I think you guys are reading too much into what his brother is tweeting. It is not like people think intesensly when they tweet something. When he says Ohio State is making a strong push that just means they are recruiting him hard but put in a different way. Everyone need to calm down.
F--- Michigan!
*/sarcasm done.
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Lol
^^LOL, totally.
Who's on the visit again?? Oh, ok.
I agree the brother seems to be a bit of an attention diva.
Think there is also an insult exemption for Dr. Anzalone
your absolutely right about the family stuff but saying judging people off twitter isnt fair your rediculous. when you put crap on that your "publishing" so if you dont want to be viewed in ppor light then dont write stuff that will reflect on u as such. but again, yes, lets just forget about the brother until bell is at tOSU, then later down the road we can worry about getting vonn in serious trouble.
You do realize recruits and family members read this site frequently?
Good, I'll take this opportunity to give them a heads up:
FRIENDS AND FAMILY OF RECRUITS, please don't twitter, post , fax or IM content that reflects poorly on The Ohio State University.
This is not Arkansas or UNLV and a good chunk of Ohio State fans fancy themselves and the University as a wholesome and high end academic institution.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we wish you the feelings of pride and joy The Ohio State University has provided to many of us for many many years
If the guy who downvoted this is Vonn Bell's little brother, we can help! And you could end up a historical figure --- like Billy Carter, Teddy Kennedy, or the Bono kid.
If Vonn Bell's brother has 100 helmet stickers, chances are that Bell will be a Buckeye. So I hope it was him.
Maybe he should have gone to the club with Devin Smith. He may not be as good of a player as Shazier, but he is hiarious. Prob a bigger partier.
Think Vonn's brother is aware how high our communications major is rated?
Agree. Besides, if he really thinks the "nightlife" of 97,000 Tuscaloosa is better than the 800,000 Columbus, then he's doing something wrong. Not that it should factor in at all.
with his parents on the visit i find it highly unlikely the "club scene" matters right now. imo house parties were always better anyways fwiw
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
"...they're midgits!"-Coach Kerry Coombs
He is posting Vonn is unhappy with it. Lol. Yet it hasnt been confirmed out of Vonn's mouth. Says he loves his brother and if he gives all to a program then the least we could do is throw a good party every now and then for him. Smh. Seems like his brother really is living vicariously through him lol. I dunno. At least C. Smith could end up as #23 for us. Sounds close.
There is not a single "club" in Cbus that turns down people at the door, defintely not if its 18+. Story is real sketch....
uh, yeah they do. I'm speaking from personal experience.
Its time to play, name that Club.
Go Sarasota its your turn!
Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
in the early 90's a place called Park Alley on High St. I think it used to be where Eddie George's restaurant is now.
in mid 2000's a place in the Brewery District; can't remember the name.
Magnolia Thunderpussy. Greatest record store name ever. That place is gone right?

Looks like it is still there, but in Short North.
Lol. I was in the class of 1993. You're bringing me back: Papa Joes, the South Heidelberg, the Bier Stube , Crazy Mama's and the $1 gyro shop.
It was also sad that Larry's changed into another bar.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
I haven't been back to that part of High St years but old college buddies who have aren't happy about it. I'm told it went from a mecca of afterhour activity for students to a strip mall.
$8 buckets of beer and literally thousands and thousands of willing coeds every weekend, all right there on campus just waiting for you. It was heaven.
Were you wearing a hat and sneakers?
If the brother is doing all this complaining about the clubs, you have to wonder what kind of impression he's leaving on Urban Meyer and the staff! You would think that it can't be good if the brother is exerting this much control over the situation! If I were Vonn Bell, I would ask that my brother stay home for my future visits. But then this really seems like a child running the circus!
His brother is just tweeting. Doesn't mean he controls the situation. I think Von is in complete control of his decision.
I'm not sure bell's brother was with vonn last night. Tweets since have looked good and I think chilling with Roby, Braxton, and Shazier ( which is apparently who he was with, and maybe c. Bryant) I would think those few could show him what OSU football and being a member of that fraternity is all about.
"...they're midgits!"-Coach Kerry Coombs
If this turns into who's got better "night life" we're gonna lose. The female population of UA is very in tuned and dedicated to the recruitment of FB players. Vonn and his brother will be "taken care of" down here. This is really discouraging man.
Follow me @jaythesportsguy
Saban is visiting Monday morning? Yeah, we're not getting this guy. Glad the staff is doing everything they can, but whatever good feelings he has towards Ohio State will wear off by Monday and then you have the additional visits.
I'd be stunned (but not moreso than I would have with Quick) if Bell were a Buckeye.
Why would Saban have scheduled an in home visit when Von Bell has scheduled a visit to Bama later in the month? Could it be because he knows he is in a tough competition with Meyer?
Yeah, that sux that Saban is visiting Bell Monday. If Bell leaves this weekend without a verbal, OSU will be a bridesmaid in this one IMO. Too bad...
Sounds like big bro should be in South Beach or Vegas.
I'm finding it hilarious the peaks and valley's this thread goes through..
Alex says something to bring every ones hopes up (he should be the only one anybody listens to anyway)
Then downers get on here and post pessimistic tweets and predictions until Alex comes back a few hours later to brighten spirits again..lol!!
Vonn Bells brother seriously has got to go.
Yeah, got to go to Columbus with Vonn when he moves up here in June. That's my preference for where he goes.
Volonte™ @VdatDudee
We appreciate #BuckeyeNation for the wonderful hospitality overall i enjoyed Columbus
"...they're midgits!"-Coach Kerry Coombs
One of the blockO or buck nuts guys on twitter gave a very positive update, which seemed to be based more off team sources than the brother. Haha.
"...they're midgits!"-Coach Kerry Coombs
What time is Bell expected to leave. Im guessing if he was going to commit this weekened a. He woulda stayed in last night and talked it over last night with his folks instead of going out and b. Im guessing he would of done it by now. Is he even meeting with urban after the game or anything? Just some thoughts, but heres to good news.
Bell is leaving right now he is not staying for the basketball game
That can't help any
It's probably a flight thing. Parent's got to get to work on Monday and don't want to roll home at midnight.
If Bells sentiments about the visit reflect his brothers in any way, then it is my opinion that he was looking for any excuse to not committ to tOSU. There will be others, it would have been nice to have him, but not the end of the world by any means.
My hopes are not very high on this one. If he commits it will be the biggest suprise of the year.
We'll see....
Edit*Had a feeling this was going to happen. His talents would have been nice for our Defensive Backfield but oh well. On to the next guy....

Just saw on twitter from Jbook Vonn Bell isn't sticking around for the bball game. He must be in a hurry to get back home to visit with Saban.
This is so disappointing.
Figured it was a long shot. On the outside I'm fine. On the inside...
Interesting choice of words. I think I'll sit here and analyze that to a pulp.
Wow, something must have happened for it to go from "the visit is going fantastic" to doubting he'll be a Buckeye.
I started to lose hope with the way his brother was tweeting. I'm sure the story will be interesting to hear. Still, crossing my fingers...
On to the next one. Let's get some wr's

To be clear this is far from over just not hearing the best things
What do you mean by priorities weren't in order?
And if your information the reason the staff called James Clark? Using that scholly to go after a WR?
Is he another Robert Foster?
Alex, we we still on grey box alerts?
Certainly discouraging news. Wanted him here a long time now, best of luck to him either way
RT @JaymeBUCKS Ok now I'm starting to get annoyed if he doesn't wanna come here DON'T COME #flatout
Obviously, not CERTAIN who he is talking about here. But I think I have an idea.
Ouch, that sure doesn't look good. You'd think if anyone has a sense of the situation, it'd be Jayme Thompson. Thanks for the post Anononym!
"Volonte™ @VdatDudee
To keep in 100 I would say the Ohio State visit was an A they really got my family to buy in what they are building at the #BuckeyeNation "
^Good final review for those upset with him. Just think he was stirring things up a bit haha. Doesn't matter what he thought of it really, ultimately on Vonn. Still think Vonn goes to Bama, though--especially after an in-home visit w/Saban and a Bama official visit yet to go. I'm one of those (dumb?) cynics who felt like it'd take a commitment to OSU on this visit and a cancellation of Bama's visits to lock him in.
Yup as I said visit was an A with the family but hearing some troubling things from multiple sources that are making me pessimistic
What are some of these "troubling things" if you can share?
When you say troubling, do you mean you found things Vonn said were troubling or what Vonn did last night the staff found troubling like what happened on Neal's visit last year?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
At least the staff gave it their best shot. Thanks for the work alex
Does it have anything to do with this tweet?
What the hell does that mean ???
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!
Back in the day me and my friends refered to certain illegal substances as "fresh cut" but he could just be talking about a haircut
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
"freshcut" = haircut
Of course Jayme Thompson wouldn't want him to come here & take his spot. If you don't have anything positive to say or tweet, keep it shut!!
In his defense, I kinda agree with him. The tweet was stupid, but if you aren't 110% commited here, don't waste OSU's time/scholarship. You can half-ass your dedication to OSU football and expect to succeed. While this is an exaggerated view, I only want recruits that really want to be here.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I don't think that tweet had anything to do with him not wanting Vonn Bell to come to OSU.
Geeee, maybe they should say the same about Gibson. You wanna go to WVU, go to WVU. We want kids that wanna be buckeyes, right?? SMH
Hey, I agree, if Vonn doesn't wanna be here then on to the next kid. Just don't run your mouth on Twitter. It may have an effect on the next guy visiting.
Let's just see how this plays out.
This is exactly why we shouldn't have canceled Timmons visit. I'd take him any day over trying to over stretch on someone else.
Again, WE did not cancel Timmons visit! HE did! Or rather it was mutually agreed upon that if there wasn't an offer, there was no point in him coming!
The brother is a hard man to please LOL

THANK YOU!! This is what I was trying to say! Dude already said he's taking the visits then making a decision. Foolish to think he would commit this weekend!
down votes for telling some of you things you didn't wanna hear? smh
#SunWillBeUp2morrow
so what exactly is the protocol here? I assume you hold a scholarship offer for Bell until NSD, no matter what. but then if he picks Bama?
do you ask another recruit to be patient until then, and that you're waiting on Bell to see if they'll have a spot?
I'm sure the staff will have a good idea after today of what to expect. They know he's a great player and would be a needed addition to the team. But you better believe they are NOT going to sacrifice a sure thing waiting around for this kid if he's playing games with them.
Urban Meyer has been playing this game a very long time and the last thing I can imagine happening is him getting burned by a 17-18 year old kid.
He's going to Bama

Thanks for the update, I don't think I could wait until NSD to hear it from him.
BTW, the dv didn't come from me, thought about it though

Did anyone read the ESPN insider articel about Vonn's coach and his update on the visit? Good or bad?
- Respect the Rivalry -
I really think the visit went much better than what most on here are making out....those tweets by his brother see m to be made more in jest than anything else. With that said, he might not commit to tOSU but I doubt that it was because his visit wasnt one big party.
from the insider article:
coach said tOSU is "definitely still in it."
Relationship with the coaching staff was high on the list (maybe #1). He wants to be a coach after his playing days.
Preciate the candid response.
Thanks for the updates Alex. Just have to sit back and relax till NSD.
I think most of the negative reports we've heard are a result of the brothers tweets - lets keep a on open mind and remiain optimistic about Vonn's recruitment. He is seriously considering OSU and loves Urban. Obviously Alabama is Alabama and it is what it is, but we are right in this one.
- Respect the Rivalry -
Well the negative reports I heard were from two sources I trust that would know. I may have underestimated the power of mom and dad though and most importantly Everett Withers' and his relationship with the Bells
I read somewhere that momma loves her some coach Withers without question. And if OSU lands Vonn it would be because of coach Withers.
Thanks for the info Alex....always appreciated.

Let's hope during the in-home visit, Saban trips on a rug and accidentally knocks over a plate of PB&Jelly crackers staining their carpet.

At which point, only OSU and TENN shall remain!
Alex's source are probably legit - either way no point in stressing over it.
- Respect the Rivalry -
Exactly...it's a 17/18 year old kid that probably doesn't even know what pair of shoes he'll be wearing for school tomorrow.

Keith Niebuhr over at 247 has an interview up with info on Bell if someone has a subscription and wants to share the info.

Thanks for the coverage, Alex. Without the recriting drama, it'd be harder to get my OSU football fix January & February every year.

Great post!

Forgot about that movie. Might've repressed the memory. Awful film. Just awful.

Don't give up... Don't ever give up.
I think that gregariousness is developed in a multitude of venues. People can learn to socialize in any number of settings, with or without drinking.
Very true. However, alcohol does always make nerves a little less apparent (at least for most people.) So on a college campus, that's one of easiest ways to take part in such social situations.
Don't give up... Don't ever give up.

The party scene is where you also get into trouble. No one got kicked out of college for not getting involved in the party scene, rather the opposite.
