Sorry if this has already been posted, but wonder what is going on at USC? (other than the fact that Kiffin is an overrated jerk)
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/college-football/story/_/id/8825659/kylie...
"Fitts, an early enrollee who had been committed to the Trojans since April, had signed and submitted his scholarship paperwork to USC. The four-star prospect was even out shopping for dorm essentials recently with his mother. He was set to enroll Thursday and attend his first class on Jan. 14, but those plans changed.
'Something happened recently that questioned my trust in USC, so I'm reopening my recruitment," Fitts said. "It literally broke my heart. I broke down and cried. It was so hard for me and my family. It's just what's best for me at this moment. I'm putting in God's hands and trusting that everything will work out.'"

Wow, I wonder if Kiffin told him to get lost? Seems very bizarre and I feel really bad for the kid. I hope he finds a good landing spot (maybe somewhere in the Pac-12 so he can get a shot to beat USC).
doesnt seem like that is the case - later in the article, it says that USC (orgeron and kiffin) were going to continue to recruit him hard.
I also hadnt realized that USC has had five decommitments now.
yeah, I just tried to edit my statement after reading a bit more, but I guess it won't let me now. Regardless, that is a crazy story.
There is something fishy going on at USC, losing recruits left and right
Not here to troll...Go Blue
People said the same thing when Neal and Anzalone decommitted from OSU, but sometimes people just want to go elsewhere. That being said, this is much weirder than any of those others, which seemed to more to be about committing early to save a spot in the class and then changing their mind after getting more offers.
I don't think anything was weirder than the Anzalone debacle.
True. That whole Twitter B-Dubs Trivia McCreeper taking pics with recruits stuff was straight up the weirdest thing I've ever heard of.
Agreed but the difference is that the OSU stuff was out in the open no matter how creepy (Anzalone).
The USC stuff has happened five times and isn't really clear why.
Or could it be that Kiffin took a preseason #1 team to 7-5 and lost a bowl game to GT, and after years of never producing, even with loads of talent, the 18 year olds of the world are finally realizing what many have known for years...Lane Kiffin is not a good coach.
Kiffin is doing to USC what RichRod did to ttun. bada,ba,ba,ba I'm lovin' it!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
this is so very true
Very strange. I'm sure we'll hear more on the reason before too long.
I feel bad for the kid but i could care less if USC lost all their commitments
I bet he saw Kiffin on the sideline of the Sun Bowl and he got completely spooked.
This pic reminds of the unabomber, only with a play calling chart
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Gonna keep an ear open for more on this....very interesting
Sounds like a candidate for medical hardship. You shouldn't play football in that condition.
Only in Saban-land.
Kiffin hit with the five finger exploding heart technique.
Pai Mei approved.
I can't wait until Lane Kiffin gets fired.
I hope the ghost of Al Davis comes back and does it again. In retrospect his little fireside chat about Lane Kiffen was awesome.
+1 for the 'Fireside Chat" reference.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
I hope he stays for 10 more years....
I love Lane, the bloom is off the rose and now we don't have a giant recruiting sucking sound out west.
I think what is happening is obvious. Preseason number one and he loses five games with the talent he has on that team? Lane Kiffin is at best a mediocre coach and the best recruits in the country can see that. And the best recruits don't want to play for a mediocre coach.
explain texas
Okay to play for a mediocre coach if it's close to home and you can maul any girl you see???
Yeah, it should be pretty clear... Lol
I would guess that with still-limited schollies and with time and recruits still left before signing day, that Kiffin is attempting an awkward slow-play with some recruits and may not follow through with honoring all of the commitments, the revelation of which is causing some of these recruits to question their decisions. This USC class has to stay small and with guys still on the fence, Kiffin is wanting to get the best players possible (as are all other coaches), but is probably going to renege on some of the earlier commitments. The decommitments all seem very sudden and suspect, and I don't believe that USC is honestly still recruiting Fitts. Just my opinion.
Sounds like he was wanting to enrol early and had everything ready... Then they told him they didn't have room for, him to enroll early under scholarship. Not that he couldn't still be part of this class, but he felt like he was let down.
Leon McQuay III committed at one of the all american games last week and is also an EE. Kiffin/SC told Fitts they don't have room for him to EE. Similar to what happened before with WR Eldridge Massington. They would be over their 75 scholarship limit if both were to start classes next week. He was asked to enroll in June, so I'd assume they are still going to recruit him.
Speculation or fact? That would explaint the weird behavior by Fitts and by the coaches.
Seems like "fact-based speculation." The USC boards are saying that is indeed what happened, but can't really provide a link to confirm.
I feel for the kid.
If that's true I can see why he re-opened his recruitment. Imagine shopping for dorm supplies then being told, "oh sorry, you cant enroll now" That'd burn my britches.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest.Civil.War.Analogy.Ever
... and then to be told "but we'll still recruit you".
I can imagine if I did this to a new hire at work!
Sounds like kiffin is trying to oversign

There is another shady story being told by SC mods on their 247 page about trying to keep their APR scores high enough to not envoke penalties, but apparently they have backed off that one and are running with the 75 man limit again.
The funny thing is, USC has lost all of this talent, yet their class only dropped to 7th. That's amazing if you ask me.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
They also got a lot of great talent after decommittments...
I so wish Seantrel Henderson was forced to play an eternity for Lil' kiffin!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Sorry for the tangent - but why do we all know that if a program is imploding it is a bad thing but if it is explonding it's a good thing? Either way they are in rubble, no?
Can we get a Su'a Cravens decomit?
