First off, long time lurker but recently just created an account. One skillset/attribute that hasn't been discussed much about UFM is his ability to secure a commitment from a player and see it all the way through to their eventual enrollment. I have yet to see a potential Buckeye rescind his verbal commitment. We all know the Lewis and Anzalone situation which I believe doesn't quite fit the criteria. Anzalone's father was a large obstacle standing between his son and being a Buckeye. Lewis was blown away on his visit and made a quick and rash decision. In the last two UFM OSU recruiting classes, I cannot think of a player that had verballed but eventually changed their mind. Not sure if this was indicative of Urban's Florida classes too. As we all know the recruiting battles in the SEC follow a different set of rules. This class appears to be another great group of high character and extremely gifted football players. Can anyone think of a so called "solid 100% committed" player that by signing day chose a different school?
On a side note: just wanted to thank the guys at 11 Warriors for all they do. I have bounced around several forums and never felt the need to pay for a subscription. This site has validated that choice over and over again.

I think it's funny we don't have a "Brady Hoke Rule" to have the "guys that want to be here!" Meyer doesn't have to threaten, he just has a good relationship with the recruit.
Welcome to 11W, good to have you!

Thanks 703, much appreciated.
The 2 you mentioned fit the bill perfectly...they committed to OSU, then decided not to come here. It's not a big deal it happens all the time. But AA and Lewis were both guys that Urban wanted and couldn't keep, no matter the reason
I was thinking more in terms of a player that gave his verbal and was solid to OSU for the majority of his recruiting process. If I'm not mistaken, Lewis was a Buckeye for a few weeks before re-opening his recruitment. Not sure how long AA's verbal to OSU spanned, maybe a month or so.
I'm thinking in terms of, say a player like Burrows, who from pretty much day one has been all Buckeye. Just an example.
Didn't Urban threated Brionte with pulling his scholly offer if he made that Michigan visit last December?
Not sure if that was ever proven to be fact, but you know UFM certainly voiced his displeasure about the visit.
I believe he said in a press conference regarding Dunn visiting Michigan "If you go there you better like it, cause that's where you'll be the next 4 years." Something to that tune, I may be wrong though.
"You'll be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field."
You are correct!
I can't think of any. He builds strong relationships that last even past their collegiate careers. Welcome to the community!
How Firm Thy Friendship....
I completely agree and thanks. These relationships often lead to siblings and other family members considering playing for UFM and keeping him in high regard ie Haden's little brother.
And hopefully soon Little Bosa and Little Mitchell!!
How Firm Thy Friendship....
I actually have some what of an inside track on this. I work with Jalin Marshall's brother in law and I asked him the same question. He said Jalin speaks to the staff weekly at least. They called him usually twice a week during the season just to see how his health was and make sure he wasn't suffering any injuries.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
