Urban runs a spread that also focuses on speed and has been a much more successful coach (2 National Championships v 0) in a more difficult conference. Urban is an offensive guru too and I think no one would argue that he is a better coach than Kelly. Does anyone know why Kelly is talked about as a NFL candidate and Urban is not?
Don't get me wrong, I hope the NFL never pursues Urban. In fact, I'm going to be torn rooting for the Browns because if Chip is succesful, teams might give Urban a second look. Idk, just seems weird that Chip is getting more attention than Urban.

Urban has said in the past he's made calls to teams and has had teams make calls to him but in the end he loves college football.. and get's it. Says he knows nothing about the NFL, with the salary caps etc. And that he loves where he's at. He won't leave for the pros.
Kareem is all over it. Chip is interested in the NFL. Urban is not. Simple as that
Chip is interested in avoiding future Oregon sanctions by the NCAA.
Do you think Commissioner Goodell would impose any sanctions on Chip Kelly if the NCAA imposes sanctions on him? Coach Tressell was suspended five games by the NCAA and Commissioner Goodell imposed that on him even as a video replay coordinator.
Same with Prior, both very dumb penalties in my mind.
Your mind doesn't know how to spell Pryor.
Ooooo owned!
Go Bucks!
My bad, misspelled Pryor. Won't let me edit it now that I have 5 downvotes.
One name....Pete Carrol
Your mind doesn't know how to spell Carroll
Did Coach Carroll get sanctions from the NCAA? I don't remember a show cause or anything. Kelly actively participated in the action that can cause his team to get sanctions.
Yeah exactly . Where you succeed at you shall stay. Urban would not even consider it. He loves coaching the buckeyes. NFL ain't got sh## on UFM. Amen

To echo what Kareem has already stated, UfM has said that college football is where he wants to be. He just talked about it the other day with Dan Patrick....here is the link

tOSU is the premier coaching job in Ohio, argueably top 5 in all levels of the sport of football. I think a great many coaches would choose the Bucks over the Browns or Bengals, pro or not. The beauty of hiring Urban is that he knows he has the premier job and will provide consistancy that recruits can rely on...unlike other turn-style programs.
Chip Kelly could coach the Browns to a winning record, an AFC Championship, even a Superbowl and he would still be the 2nd best coach in the State.
Urban Meyer has no interest in the NFL...and this above from Tenacious D. Kelly will always be #2 in Ohio...no matter what he does with the Clowns. Personally I can't see Kelly turning it around...don't know if anyone will be able to.

Urban does say Kelly is the smartest football coach he's ever seen.
This year four NFL teams used Urban and Kelly's read option zone blocking spread running game and pass plays off them. Three of the four made the playoffs. The one that didn't made the playoffs last year.
When has urban ever said that?
Go Bucks!
on the dan patrick show link above. Also when he worked for espn. He loves chip

stark county football
Smarter than Herman? Think he said the same thing about him.
It would probably be a little harder to keep his family contract while coaching an NFL team, so that could be another reason for Urban to avoid the NFL.
Urban told Dan Patrick that when he was growing up he never dreamed about coachng the Browns. He only dreamed about being the head coach at Ohio State.
I can't believe that some still think Urban and his wife are lying when the both say THIS is his dream job. This is his last job.
A tear, to my eye did appear.
I don't necessarily think that he's lying; more like saying the right thing. I've read almost every profile on the man's life and coaching philosophy that I can find (except his autobiography, go figure), and the only reason why I've ever wondered about his allegiance was because it seems like the dude was really smitten with ND as a child; in fact his mother said she used to dream of him one day coaching there. Granted, he chose the UF job over ND, calling it a "dream job" at the time.
Quite honestly, I could care less about all that, though. Meyer's the perfect coach for this school and were beyond spoiled to have him. BTalbert has been the best at articulating this, but Meyer's been well-known to be a superb politician at every job he's held. I think the truth is that he'd have been equally happy as he coach of either ND or OSU, with his other dream job UM coming in slightly behind. That's pure conjecture in my part, but just what I believe. That said, I can't really ever seeing him leave OSU for another job--but I do think that he'd have stayed if he were hired by either ND or UM (and, yes, he'd have probably made similar comments if he was the coach there--he's a master motivator, of both fans and players).
So happy that he's our coach, I can't think of anyone better to represent this institution.
I don't understand how someone can have OSU and UM as a dream job. If you love OSU that much, why would you be a traitor and go up north? I feel like the distance between Urban's desire to coach OSU and UM was probably bigger than he said.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
It's also worth mentioning that Kelly absolutely loathes the booster culture, and a lot of Oregon's big cash donors don't like it. He doesn't glad-hand or anything, all he wants to do is coach his damn team. Nothing wrong with that, but a college coach is equal parts politician and football mind; whereas an NFL coach can focus more time on the game. Kelly's also an East Coast guy, and doesn't have a deep-rooted college football identity like most do.
Yea he is a slave to NIKE right now. They run that school.
The main difference is when you are the coach at Oregon and the NFL calls you pick up the phone, but the Head Coach at THE Ohio State University does not leave to take another job ANYWHERE!
