I'm happy that Urban was covering this game tonight, but not because of recruiting or that he was representing Ohio State. This is going to fire him up and piss him off. He doesn't like Saban and it's obvious. He didn't pick Bama to win, though clearly he had to know this one wasn't going to be close. He called them the Crimson at one point also. The best part though was after the game. The guys on set were gushing over Saban. Corso said he was the best teacher of football since Bear Bryant and Vince Lombardi. You don't think that's going to piss off/fire up Urban????? He wants his staff to emulate that of Bama. He wants his players to be relentless in their preparation so they can be as great as the Bama's of the world. No doubt in my mind hearing all this love for Saban and comparisons to the greatest coaches in NCAA history will have Urban fired up. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a maniacal Urban on the recruiting trail in 2014. We may see a significant jump in quality of this team going into 2013 too.
That's my biggest take away for tonight. Forget recruits seeing Urban on TV and him crashing the party for Ohio State. Tonight is the night Urban gets fired up. He got to witness how far away his team really was compared to Bama. I can't wait.

Well this team will have an angry coach in 2013. Lets see if the team matches it.

Ohio State beat michigan state, who beat minnesota, who beat syracuse, who beat louisville, who beat florida, who beat texas a&m, who beat bama. He'll feel fine if he remembers his transitive property
This is the exact subject of something I'm writing for tomorrow. I took away very similar conclusions.
I agree completely. However, my big fear is that as OSU upgrades its talent, its offense and defense, the team goes through the season undefeated and then faces Alabama next year in the national championship game - and gets treated like Notre Dame. The BIG isn't in the same league as the SEC and yes, I agree that if they want to get there they have to spend the money on new coaches or go the way of the Ivy League.
And remember one thing. Should the SEC ever begin to lose their dominance, they will revert to their fall back position; they will simply lower their academic standards - as if they could.
Urban Meyer isn't Brian Kelly, and Braxton isn't Golson.

Brian Kelly is like the afterbirth from Chip Kelly. He can only change colors, much like a mood ring.
We've spent our money, and we have the best staff in the game...it's go time.
Alabama is incredible, the sec is still the best league but not by that large of a margin look at what the rest of the league did in the other games.
I want us to be better than 'bama and no off the field stories as well.
Well more than likely the Bucks and Urban will have his shot at Saban next year... They should be really good again, and w/ McCarron coming back to win possibly is 4th title, perfect time to officially start tOSU dynasty by knockin' off Saban and Bama.
bama is good no doubt... but brian kelly was the reason notre dame got mopped up like that... osu most likely doesnt beat that bama team i just dont think urbs has the horses to do so yet. however, when he gets his guys here theres no doubt in my mind urbs will hurt saban
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
You could also tell that Urban was gnashing his teeth when the others kept blathering on assuming an inherent tension between power football and 'spread concepts.' And they had to throw in some sort of comment about Tebow....I didn't quite get the point.
Be sure to tune in to Kentucky vs. Alabama next year. I think Neal Brown will have something for ALA's defense.
Yeah David Pollack made a comment about Bama playing big boy football in a world of spread offenses. He ignored the fact that Urban's championship teams played big boy defense, and Tebow was a power running back who took it right at the other team. I wish Urban would of got a chance to speak about that.
He did what he was supposed to do though, he broke down the game and conducted himself very professionally. He did a good job not getting into any debates or anything like that. He and his team will do their speaking on the field.
I agree. When i watch the pregame, half-time and post game show, u can tell Urb was becoming more and more pissed off with the praises for Nick Saban. But we know Urb will turn this in to motivation for recruiting, training camp , practices , games and preparation. I very excited to see where we end up, specially with his motivation and desire driving us to be better than the BIG 10 and beat Saban
Jsb
I picked up on all the exact same things. Meyer looked so fired up toward the end of the segments when they were speaking about Saban. I really think this could be a push to make this team just nasty and mean.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
Urban has a destiny. The current run of SEC titles started when Urban Meyer led the Gators over the favored Buckeyes. The current reputation of the SEC was built on the backs of the Buckeyes, and now it is up to Urban and the Buckeyes to end it.
Alabama and the SEC are not invincible. They have talent and good assistants. I happen to believe attitude and heart mean a LOT more than talent. When Meyer has good teams with a ton of heart his teams are about as close to invincible as you can get. Not because they're more talented, or better coached or have superior game plans, but because they're willing to run through a brick wall for him. Most of the SEC gets by on sheer talent alone and the "wow factor" more than anything else. I have often wondered how they'd react if they met a team that just had a bigger set of balls than they do. Take away Alabama and the SEC looked like a bunch of dogs this bowl season.
ND looked intimidated last night. I do not believe for an instant that an Urban Meyer team will be intimidated. Coach Meyer was fueling the fire last night but he was also showing his team one important thing...he's not afraid of Nick Saban. OSU is not going to back down from anyone. I can guarantee you that.
