Isn't UNLV a glorified community college? Don't see them in the Pac.
Big 12 needs teams to get a confernce championship back. Houston and UNLV?
I'm not so sure about the Pac 12... I happen to live here in Vegas and can tell you that the whole UNLV football program is horrible. The city hasn't really supported football (basketball school) and it doesn't help having an off campus stadium 20 minutes away from campus. There has not been much talk going to the Pac 12. It's funny, but the basketball fans here consider the Pac 12, a step below the Mountain West in basketball.
It's been really frustrating trying to support the football team, their coaching decisions have been questionable. Growing up a Buckeye fan, you are brought up to expect the best. Here, you hope that you can at least get 6 wins to make a bowl, and losing to FBS schools like Northern Arizona, and Souhern Utah University on the way to 2 win seasons the last couple of years has killed any optimism for this downtrodden program. The coach, Bobby Hauck, should have been fired 2 years ago and was given an extension instead!!!
Try following recruiting for UNLV football and you would be very frustrated. Most of the players they get are unranked or 2 stars. Early signings? forget it, they just started getting commitments late December. They just signed 7 JUCO players to help a horrid defense. They bank on getting kids rejected by the bigger programs. It's really sad.
The talk here was, when they presented the plan to the powers to be, they were selling the venue as a place to host major events like the Pro Bowl, National Finals Rodeo, Wrestlemania, UFC events, and the last thing on the list was UNLV football.
A new stadium complex would bring new life to the program and is warranted for future success, that, and getting a new coaching staff and a different mindset..
thats rough i lived in vegas for awhile... i always thought it looked like a nice school. never actually visited it or anything
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
UNLV is a nice school. Just have a crappy football team. I love going to games despite the play on the field.
Wouldn't mind seeing us play there. :)
How/where did you see the Pac having any interest in UNLV.
They don't and they won't.
Cal, UCLA, UW are all among the top 10 public schools in the world, and USC has bought its way to top 25 status. Stanford has a claim as #1.
UNLV won't get a sniff.
The Pac is already saddled with Wazu as a terrible school and they basically got hornswaggled into taking Colorado and then Utah when Texas pulled its bait and switch.
Pac would take Texas or BYU or Oklahoma or maybe even SD State or Nevada before UNLV.
