Hey guys, I know that when you have guys enroll early and transfer, it opens up scholarship availability. I also know that we are limited this year but have some flexibility with the transfers/dismissals of Williams, Southward, and most recently Reed. I was wondering how exactly the transfers and early enrollees from the 2012 class affect this year's class. Is it a direct correlation or is there more to it? Sorry to be so green, but I've always wondered about this and never really knew. Appreciate any help.

the transfers affect the class bc they open up more spots for this year. the early enrollees dont really make as much of a difference bc we have to have 82 scholarship players we're limited to regardless if they count for 2012 or 2013. the main reason for early enrollee is to be compliant with the ncaa's limit of 25 players per class.
Right -- and to piggyback on this post just to add some info for the OP -- the reason an early enrollee helps with the 25 limit is because the coaches can just backdate that signee toward the previous year's class if there is room (under 25).
Ahh, that makes sense. So do the early enrollees allow us to go at/over 25 this year? Or are we going to be limited with the scholarship cuts?
Honestly don't worry about all that stuff very much. The most important number is 82 regardless of who leaves or who comes in January. We need to have only 82 people on the first day of fall practice.
any early enrollees count towards the 2012 class, but as others have said, the number that is most important is 82
i believe that only 3 early enrollees can be backdated
I hope this helps...
