I'd love to see that. If I were him, I'd want to prove that I'm the best playmaker coming out of Kentucky this year, and want to play in Scarlet and Grey.
As long as the staff really wants Timmons then go for it but I don't think we have to reach for another player (not saying he would be a reach) just because we didn't get another play maker. With the limited numbers we can't miss on players. Same thing with OL we didn't get a Dawson so don't reach for another and bank it for the next year. 2014 is a great class with Demarre Kitt and Miles Autry etc so we can wait a bit if we have to. Jalin Marshall and Zeke Elliot are going to be good players.
I'd much rather have Larue or Wilson than Timmons or Elder... Personally, I'd take Timmons over Elder. We could bank those schollies and use them for 2014. We already know Snodgrass and Lonnie Johnson want to pull the trigger.
I was only breaking your balls. I actually have became a big Timmons fan and looked foreward to your friday night updates this year. You have convinced me he deserves an offer.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
After watching LaRue, I'm not very high on him anymore, was impressed with him the least for the amount of times he touched the ball. So as of right now to me it goes Wilson ... Gibson ... Timmons ... Elder. Just looking at Elder's body type I don't think he will be able to gain very much weight.
No Elder wasn't in this game. LaRue didn't look quick/fast, or decisive on those returns. Wilson on the other looked like lightning in a bottle on his returns. One question though I wonder why Timmons wasn't invited to either of these games. I would've loved to see him in this kind of element.
He didnt do the UA circuit during summer and his HS coaches didnt nominate him probably not knowing that was a requirement for the AA. I agree with you though.
Because the AA games are the best of the best at their positions w/ some obviously getting left out and although Timmons is good, he's not a top tier RB (as 247 projects, or WR as all other sites project). Not sure how Campos got an invite after injuries on the OL, dude is overrated.
OK, I'm not going to start another Timmons thread, but I have an honest question. Why is he rated so low? He is one of the best playmakers I have watched film on. He has good size and great quickness. He has an awesome touch to touchdown ratio. He tore it up at FNL from what was discussed on here. Is it all because he didn't camp much and because he was in a smaller high school division? I look forward on someone filling me in. Thanks.
@shep- the only thing I can think is that he just didn't have the hype machine going like some of these kids. If you look at comments from coaches around the state they all said Quick and Timmons are dead even. Different types maybe, but as players they are equal. I am hoping so hard that Timmons becomes a buckeye. If not only because he has WANTED to be one from the beginning.
1) didn't make the camp rounds where the scouts would be able too see him often (how can you rate someone whom you've never seen?)
2) the ones he did, while he showed great speed, he was outplayed by others at his position in everything but top end speed.
3) competition he faced wasn't the best, which makes subject his game breaking abilities
4) offers, not a lot of good offers
when he doesn't show the same level of awesomeness around the top talent at camp, but only in his less competitive division, it makes the scouts wonder. Are they right? I don't think they have a choice when top performers, like Quick, show the same skill against top talent as they do in the season.
If you have to rank talent, do you go with guys who've checked all the boxes or do you go with a guy that shines in one situation but doesn't lined up against better competition?
i think he'll be a good college level athlete, but guys like Quick have proven they can do it against all competition and therefore must get rated higher. It's tough, but that's he rankings work. In the end someone might get a stud, but you still have to take guys that project better at the next level.
All about the camps. Look at how lowly Sprinkle is rated despite being a young 17 and destroying Ohio. He just didn't camp. Guys like Taco are rated ahead of him when I'd take Tracy any day of the week.
Here is the problem with scouting websites: They simply cannot send a scout to every high school game in the country. However, they can send multiple scouts to every camp. That's why camps seem to be weighted much higher than actual production.
Timmons has an official visit at Ohio State next weekend (Jan. 11), if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't be surprised if he was offered and committed at that time.
I could not foresee why UFM and Co. would not offer Timmons on the 11th and let Elder commit if the Dontre Wilson talk turns into just that..."talk." OSU needs playmakers and those two would fit along with T.Jacobs, J. Marshall and EzE just fine. I'd say it's a no brainer now...no reason to give Waycraken or anyone else crap anymore bc it's a reality now. It's plain as day obvious that OSU needs Gibson, Elder, Wilson and or Timmons to make up for missing out on a WR like Quick.

I wouldn't say that, I think he just wants to go the the best school possible... I mean, his other finalists are Kentucky, Illinois and Arkansas... Quick has a better shot at at Title than Timmons would at any of those 3 schools.
As far as Timmons goes we will know in less than 1 week. Not sure where I read it but do remember thinking it was credible that if he does not have an offer by his OV he should consider his other opportunities.
Im sure that would mean we are still ok with who we have.
I think Gibson is priority #1 because he's a pure WR. I think LaRue, Wilson, Timmons should be up next. Elder would be last. Someone mentioned earlier about him gaining enough weight to play. If he's on the basketball court too, he won't be able to maintain any weight he gains with Coach Mick.
UFM & Bucks will be just fine. Quick had a good game today & belongs in Loisville. The Bucks will move on & wiil sign 4 or 5 more quaility recruits. Enjoy reading everyones's opinion on recruiting. Gotta belive UFM is ok with process & will move on.
Limited schollies, guys. We likely only take 1 more WR, and 3 more total. Assume Worley in. And we save a spot for Bell, up to NSD or past if needed. Gibson is top on the board. Something doesn't feel right with him though. He seemed a little scattered in that interview ... Yeah maybe just a 17 year old kid. If his grades are good and he is a lock, why hasn't he committed with a schollie limited class. Likely that grades or test scores aren't good as he says. Guess we will see, but I don't see 2 more WRs unless we know we don't have a chance at Bell.
Getting Gibson is the main priority. After that they will focus on replacing Quick which I don't think will be a guarantee. I think Elder is ahead of Timmons and I also think Stevens is still in play despite committing to A&M yesterday. Lauren is not in play
I think of this when I see a great ass! Sorry...off topic of this thread...but couldn't resist.

The one big deal in the whole Timmons thing is his strong desire to be a Buckeye. When you have that it can make a player great. Know nothing about him other than what I've read but to get guys that badly want to be here is big. Two players, very talented, one comes to OSU because he thinks it might be the fastest way to the NFL but really would prefer to be elsewhere. The other ever so slightly less talented but loves OSU and wants to prove he belongs and would do anything to help the team. I want the second guy.
Completely agree. The guys who feel they need to prove they belong and are die-hard Buckeyes at heart are the ones I would take when choosing between two players. That's why I favor Timmons to Elder or LaRue. It isn't like we are looking at a huge talent gap between any of those three, IMO.
wouldnt be bothered one bit if Timmons got his offer and joined the family for the reasons listed above by LOUGROZA...but I do want to wait an see what happens with Wilson first
The obvious question I have about Gibson Especially if grades are not an issue and he suppossedly wants to be a Buckeye. Why didnt you commit?
I read one of his artcles where he likes WV because they lose all of their WRs. To me he didnt choose OSU early if what he says about his elgibility is true because he would not have wanted to compete with comp.
Timmons I have heard has said he is not worried about comp and in fact likes it and his confidence is not on the cocky side but instead on the driven side.
Personally I was watching Quick and Gibson as much as the coverage allowed and I was much more impressed with Gibson. Quicks high school coach was the coach in this AA game and he still was very limited. I saw Quick getting knocked backwards many times and not running any route more than 50% of the time. I saw Gibson running his route 100% and open many times. Quick scored on a zone type D with busted coverage and he still nearly dropped the ball. Im sorry but that in total was the 6th time i have seen him play and the 2 catches for 40 yds was about the average for him in all 6 games. Remember he got more minutes kn this game than any player on both teams also.
I hear ya you must have watched his better games. He had quite a career at Trinity. Started first year as a Freshman In Quicks career he started 55 games and scred 57 TDs. Over 4200 yards. His junior season he had 16 Tds and 17tds this year. I wish him well but personally I think we will do fine.
There are players out there each Saturday making plays that we all see and say, man, wonder why OSU didnt recruit him. Linemen in the past on rosters of MSU, Northwestern, Illlinois etc (Some from Ohio) that osu didn't recruit, but they've become really good players. I think Timmons is one of these guys that is gonna end up making plays on Saturday's (and maybe Sundays) no matter where he goes. I'm hoping he lands an offer soon & we don't miss out. Added bonus that the kid really wants to be a buckeye.
OSU cant get every star player in college football or the Big 10...think people need to realize that we have also been fortunate with recruits that werent highly sought by other programs like all the 3 star guys that have been all americans or all conference for us...recruiting is about identifying the potential of an athlete, sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesnt...Timmons is a good player, but who is to say he will light it up on saturdays...obviously the same can be said about those 'cant miss' type of recruits...TP was supposed to come in and lead us to national championshipS and he was outstanding at times but also really really bad at times...recruiting players is not an exact science
I realize OSU can't get them all. It was just "my opinion" that Timmons is gonna be one of those guys that many schools overlooked & will be lighting it up at the next level. There's hit & misses every year.

Wow...Now that surprises me. He doesn't have that Teddy Ginn stride...Not saying he's NOT fast, he just doesn't look like it. Hey, bottom line is if he gets it done, that's ALL that matters!

Nobody will know for sure what will happen.
LaRue is expecting a phone call too more than likely. But like I said, if we miss out on Elder, that's when I expect OSU to offer Timmons.

A Timmons forum that wasn't started by Waycracken? I'm shocked.

Who is this Timmons kid? Never heard of him. Do you know anything about him?
I think we take 2 more recievers/slot backs. So we'd have to miss out on 3 of Gibson, Elder, Wilson, and LaRue to offer Timmons.
He's a great player but I just don't see that happening.

Their is one clear difference bewteen James Quick and Ryan Timmons
Quick wants to be a hometown hero
Timmons wants to be a National Champion
I was spectacle of Timmons, as most of us here know, but now I am all in on this kid. Urban Meyer needs to sign this kid up.
125 I gave ya an upvote and woulda gave ya 20 if I could.
I should have given you 1000000 upvotes over the past 6 or so months
I wouldn't say that, I think he just wants to go the the best school possible... I mean, his other finalists are Kentucky, Illinois and Arkansas... Quick has a better shot at at Title than Timmons would at any of those 3 schools.
Speaking of Timmons though... Question for Waycracken since you seem to know the most about him...
Was he ever recruited by Lville??
Yes he was and was offered. He told them no early. Believe it or not some in Kentucky feel the same way about Louisville as OSU feels about UM.
I would say most in Kentucky feel that way.
As far as Timmons goes we will know in less than 1 week. Not sure where I read it but do remember thinking it was credible that if he does not have an offer by his OV he should consider his other opportunities.
Im sure that would mean we are still ok with who we have.
I read the same thing.

Who's Lauren? Hoping your girlfriend makes the cheerleading squad? :)
LaRue sorry stupid auto correct
I think we finish with Gibson, Wilson and Bell. Maybe Worley, but numbers may end up working against him if the aformentioned play makers sign.
Up vote for your avatar. Well played.
