It's one thing to question a prospect's ability to fit into our scheme or whether we have a need at that position but calling possible commitments or their family members names is kind of ridiculous. It's been proven that recuits and family members visit this site frequently. Granted they can find silly crap like that all over message boards on espn or rivals or wherever, but one of the best things about 11W is that the forums are generally free of trolling and needless vulgarity. Keep your criticisms football related and refrain from personally insulting recruits or their families. Leave that nonsense to other fan bases.

100% agree. We're better then that.

CajunBuckeye's post pretty much said it all...
Does football related include grades? I knew there was some split when concerning grades among fans.
It's ok to say a player is retaking a test or waiting on his grades. It's not ok to say a dude is retarded, stupid, an idiot, a dumbass, etc.
A lot of times people make assumptions about grades based on things they "hear"? I don't think anyone should talk badly about a kid's grades unless they are 100% sure of what the kid's grades actually are.
For instance, Shelton Gibson says his grades are fine, yet a lot of people still write posts saying he needs to get grades up to be able to commit. I guarantee these people have never seen his grades and are just going on rumors.
I believe there's been some history with Gibson and grades, dating back to before FNL. That's my point, if the history is there, who should we believe?
Did he, his coaches, or family say he had grade issues? Otherwise, the only history of grade problems is rumors. He may very well have grade or test score issues, but Ijust don't see the point in speculating about high school kids' grades, since there is really no way to know.
Analysts talk to coaches, family, whatever. Are we not supposed to trust the guys who make a living reporting this stuff? Where there's smoke, there's fire.
Even if they're just rumors, we can report them without being disrespectful. For example:
Bad: I hear Robert Foster is a prima donna moron that can't get his grades together. Do not want.
Good: Rumor is that there are some grade issues that Gibson has to get worked out before signing still. Take that for what it's worth.
It's mainly in the syntax.
I don't think poorly of someone who speaks about grades respectfully, but I just choose not to disparage a kid based on rumors, especially if the kid specifically says the rumors are false. As to your question, I rarely listen to recruiting analysts unless they say they know for sure that grades are a problem. They rarely do that, though. Mostly, they say that they heard grades are a problem, without saying where they heard this.
Well said. Such venom is immature and ignorant and only hurts a program. When a player we covet chooses another school we should wish him well but silently pity him for making such an egregious error
I am guessing I missed something in regards to this... I don't understand how people need to be told about stuff like this? What kind of parenting did they receive? I can be a total jerk to people I actually know, but all I know about any recruits is that they play ball and might wanna play here, that's the end of my involvement. Can't imagine how anyone would get personal beyond that, even if I do live/die for fall Saturdays.
(So much so my Scottish poker buddy stayed w/ me a few weeks a couple falls back, and he came to LOVE Saturdays and still mentions how he misses that stuff.)
Lets just stick to just bad mouthing M*chigan players.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I mean, calling their recruits names isn't cool either. Wait until they're out of high school I suppose?
I said M*chigan players, not recruits.
But can't we make an exception with Shane "look at me" Morris? :/
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Is this is reference to some specific incident that I am unaware of?

End of page 1, start of page 2. Too much coverage of Vonn's brother, which crosses the line (as determined by the large number of upvotes for this thread) at some point.
Thank you. Yeah...not cool
