Umm Turner is an excellent hire as an offensive coordinator....In fact his offense fits Cleveland's personnel very well, with two big WRs in Little and Gordon, as well as a QB that can stretch the field in Weeden..
People seem to assume that since he wasn't a spectacular head coach, he can't run an offense. General rule is, you don't even get a head coaching spot unless you're exceptional at what you do as a coordinator. He's exactly the type of guy that I wanted in that role.
Hell, see Dick Jauron. Terribly unsuccessful as a coach, but the Browns managed to have a great defensive season, despite injuries and suspensions. If you can start Buster Skrine and still play a good overall defensive game, more power to you.
Norv Turner is the classic example of a great coach but not so great as a Head Coach. I love this hire and hopefully they keep this coaching staff for more than 2 years.
I would have to agree with those in favor of this hire...His offenses always seemed to perform well, and that his style seems to suit what the Browns have in place...now if we can just make sure that we dont move to far away from th 4-3 on defense so that we dont have to rebuild that from ground zero would be great...
Love the hire!! Now we just need a homerun defensive coordinator!! Thought they might keep Jauron.Defense actually played pretty solid for most of the season.
Great hire for Cleveland. Norv has an offensive mind and add in Chud who has been a great OC for years and the Browns have themselves a nice pair to create an offensive scheme to highlight the talents of TRich, Gordon, Little, and Weeden. If they hire Raheem Morris as DC then I would say the Browns did an excellent job of hiring coordinators.
Really like this hire for Cleveland, any time you can get a guy who's been a head coach in the league for a long time like him to come be your assistant it says a lot. Now I know he wasn't a great head coach, but to relate this to college, this would be like hiring Rich Rod as your offensive coordinator - not a great head coach, but a good offensive mind with a lot of coaching experience.
Nooooooooo!
not this guy. come on CLE!

see Dick LeBeau, even tho he was defense
