This suggests that yesterday's story provided enough rope for Te'o/Swarbrick/Notre Dame to hang themselves, which - amazingly - they obliged by actually doing so.

ND is losing its touch in cover-ups. They've done a good job on the football player rapes and victim suicide(s) so far. Finally, folks are digging deeper over this?? WoW! Where has everyone been??

Manti's father was quoted as say that Manti met this fake person after a Stanford/ND game and that she visited Manti a few times in Haiwai. If they can nail down these quotes from the father and actually prove that he said this then I would think that they found the smoking gun?

I don't think that would be a smoking gun. He could have lied to everyone that he met her. Doesn't mean he set this whole thing up. Sometimes kids lie about what they do with girls. Some kids say they went "all the way" when they didn't, just to fit in.

I still don't understand why everyone thinks if the kid lied about meeting this girl or not, that he perpetrated the whole hoax. Maybe he told her that some of the guys were questioning his relationship with her and she told him to lie about metting each other.

So for a whole year, Te'o was smart enough to not only pull the wool over his own families eyes, the teams eyes, but also TMZ, ESPN, Yahoo and everyone else that has investigating journalists that will find out if Braxton's left nut is purple?

The kid probably lied about somethings but I am still a bit suspicious that he pulled what would probably be the biggest con in sports. Even bigger than Delany and Pete Rose.
