As much as I hate to say this, you have to believe Quick is drooling at the mouth watching the Louisville/Florida game. Teddy Bridgewater is simply dominating and making the Florida secondary look ridiculous. I believe Louisville is in great shape now with getting his commitment.

He would only overlap with Bridgewater for a year and if he uses just one game as a way of choosing his school then he isn't very smart. He may still go to UL, but I don't think it will make a huge difference.
This recruitment is a tough one - total nail biter. If you saw the 1/2 Quick Bits, there's a source that says "they know" Quick is going to OSU, but it's tough to argue with Teddy & co taking Florida's lunch. I won't be surprised either way with the result of his announcement.
He isn't going to change his mind because of one game. Also he probably believes after all the talk of Strong leaving this year that next year Strong will once again be a canidate to leave.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I'm gonna expect the worst and hope for the best with J. Quick.Could see it go either way really!! See both sides of it,and wish him the best either way!!
SCOTTC.
Don't think he will choose over 1 game. Could see him delaying his announcement to give it more thought. Personally if you're 50/50, take more time. Maybe visit both schools again. Big decision for your education and next 3-4 years of your life.
There's no way the wave of enthusiasm for UL he's going to get from home after this game doesn't effect him. Don't think it makes or breaks his decision but I think this game is ends up being VERY important in it.
Louisville's performance tonight definitely is a plus for them in Quick's recruitment. However, one game isn't going to make or break a prospect's commitment. I've never been confident that Quick ends up in Columbus to begin with. Charlie Strong is building a good program at UL and I think the local pressure keeps Quick home. But, I'll never count out Urban when it comes to closing on a recruit. If he chooses to come and play for the good guys, then great! If he stays home, best of luck to him.
I can envision Quick sitting around watching the game along with a few other recruits whopping it up for UL right now.
Everyone is right this one game will not make or break the deal but the culmination of the 6 games he attended and the bonds he has made certainly do enter into the equation. It is what it is.
The players were questioned at the UA practice, what was the biggest factor in choosing a college? The biggest reason was the coach. So it is Urban versus Charlie.
Quick to L'ville would most like mean Dontre Wilson to OSU.
Hope so, with all this news about Chip Kelly leaving it's looking like a strong possibility.
Quick is great...but I would rather have D. Wilson/Gibson than Quick/Gibson.
Personally I think it goes
1.Quick
2.Wilson
3.Gibson
But I'd be happy with any two of the three
I'd rather have Quick/Wilson just saying not a huge fan of Shelton seems shady to me.
I've been reading tweets about Gibson at the AA bowl... He's supposed to be a stud. Very explosive off the line, good speed, and hands are getting better. I'd take 2 of 3 Gibson, Quick, Wilson.
What seems shady
Just when I hear him talk and what I've heard about grade issues make me feel he is kinda shady idk it's hard to explain
I don't know if I would use the word 'shady' but I've got to agree with you. He just doesn't present himself in a mature way. He could be a great kid but those are just my initial impressions. Hell of an athlete
"Love my State, hate the football"
"Shady"? Have you heard about him getting in trouble? No? Then stfu.
Not going to say anything back like that to you just don't appreciate being told to stfu
For someone that literally asked for upvotes, you're not helping your case
I did the same thing... slightly different user names.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Oh, yeah you're right. Well, whatever, "don't be a jerk" and whatnot.
A single game will not decide the destination of a recruit.
Its a possibility. I mean if he was still undecided as of last night the game definitely could of pushed him over. Or if his biggest worry with UL was can they win a big one and that proved enough for him. Its hard to say though with 17-18 year old kids. It could mean nothing, it could of meant everything.
No one that is announcing in 48 hours is undecided.
While I agree with your statement in a general context, I think a game like the one last night can definitely decide the destination of a recruit if the recruit is on the fence, which Quick has seemed to be throughout this process.
I agree 100%. I always get annoyed when people think one single game has an effect on a recruit.
Going to be hard to get quick Teddy is a future NFL starter
Kizzle
You are right that Teddy is a good player, but they will only overlap for a year, so that should hardly be a factor.
Ya.....this one game probably kills our chances.
This seems like it's going to lead to Geno Smith/WVU 2.0. Louisville is going to have a ridiculous amount of hype next season.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
They definitely will but I think Bridgewater is the real deal. Dude can just sling it.
Isn't that what we heard about Geno too before the Tech, and KSU games. Luckily for BW, he still gets to play in the Big East.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I don't know, I've watched them play several games and he's just looked really good. Plus, last night wasn't a Big East defense that he was picking apart. He's really good, I can't speak to what will happen next season, but he's a damn good QB. Anyway, I don't think there's any question as to whether he is a better pass than Braxton or not, and that's all my point was.
James Quick > Every other WR in the Nation
Every other WR in the NATION? Laquon Treadwell, Robert Foster and Demorea Stringfellow disagree.
I like Quick better. That is my opinion.
It's going to be very tough for even UFM to pull this kid away from Louisville. They've been his leader for almost a year. I'd say it's 70-30 in favor of Louisville. I'd live to see this guy in the shoe though!
70/30? Every recruiting analyst on Twitter has been saying 50/50... I think Quick needs to look at the fact that Bridgewater will only be there one year. He needs to consider Braxton will be there 2 more years and JT will be there the next 2.
We don't know too much about JT Barrett yet, hopefully he becomes a beast at this level but chances are he won't be even close to Braxton or Bridgewater. Losing Quick to L'ville is likely but nothing to worry about as getting Gibson and Dontre Wilson will be more than enough to make up for it. Maybe we even get Corn Elder in his stead. Way I see it, the better Charlie Strong looks, the better Urban looks and the worse the SEC looks (he let sorry-ass bielama have the Ak job). Let him have Quick and keep rising to one of the top 5 coaches in the country.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
We actually know that JT is the #1 rated dual threat QB in this class and from what I've read he's a better passer at this point in his career than Braxton was. We also know he is enrolling early to rehab, lift, learn the playbook, and work with the coaches. Barrett will be just fine if he doesn't get beat out by Deshaun Watson or Drew Barker. Watson is on another level than everyone else from what I've read and Barker is Tebow 2.0.
Quick said that the biggest factor in his decision was his and his parents' relationship with each schools coaching staff. He also mentioned that his Dad has a better relationship with Urban. One bowl game would probably not affect his decision.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Anyone saying one game won't be a factor in a recruit that is wavering back and forth is silly. It's not just 'a' game, it was against the third ranked team in the nation, an SEC team. It gives more credit to the program and answers the question if that program can play in and win big games. It certainly will play a factor, just like them getting smothered would play a factor.
Well said. Emotionally on a 50-50 decision it could very well be a tipping point just the same as conversations with other recruits at the AA game. Bridgewater also is more likely to play 4 years. Very few QBs are 3 yr guys.
I think Strong and Bridgewater both take off after next season. Pending an unforeseen injury or Barkley-like fall, Bridgewater is likely a top 10 pick. Strong will leave when he loses his QB in my opinion.
Well this is just semantics, but seems appropriate. While yes UF was ranked third in the BCS, I prefer to think that Ohio State is the third ranked team in the nation.
If Quick is still 50/50 he needs to visit OSU and L'ville again and then make a decision on NSD...
Makes sense that he may delay, although everywhere I've read indicates that he'll announce this weekend. I would prefer him to make his decision this weekend for two reasons.
1) I'm impatient.
2) If he commits to tOSU, I want to celebrate. If he commits to ul, then I want to get Wilson, Elder or Timmons. The longer he delays, the tougher it is to navigate the final spots.
For as long as we've been talking about this and as many James Quick threads their have been along with as close to 50/50 as everyone is speculating I'm not going to believe anything until NLI day and UFM has a fax.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Hopefully the kid decided to come to tOSU before watching that throttling of Florida last night. I always assumed these recruits have a pretty good idea of where they want to go in advance and the bigger question for them is to when to actually verbally commit. That's just me though. Hope he's a Buckeye!
I'm sure the recruits have heard that Braxton is working with Whitfield. This may help those that are on the fence about our passing game.
I wouldn't mind taking Dontre Parker from Louisville and let them have Quick. Parker is a beast on the outside. If Quick did choose to go to UofL, him and Parker would be a nasty combo for Bridgewater even next year.
If Louisville gets Quick based on last nights win, so be it. Louisville was a 13.5pt dog and kicked gator butt. Hey, if they get a top notch recuit because of that, God bless 'em. I'd still like him to be a buckeye, I don't mind if he goes to the Louisville.
For those that think one game will sway a recruit, what about an enitre season? 12-0?
Yes and no. While it may not completely sway a recruits decision, it certainly shows that UL can compete on the big stage with the big name.

With respect, I disagree. This forum post obviously spurred conversation which is the point of posting. I get that some people are like the forum nice and tidy. But I personally find it preferable that a new forum post is generated when one on a similar subject hasn't been posted on for a few days/weeks. It also becomes somewhat cumbersome to sift through a forum post that already has a hundred or so comments.
Point taken...
Apparently after last night BCS whopping of Florida, James Quick is now leaning towards Louisville - Per Steve Wiltfong for 247
I can't wait for this to end.
And Urban is going to meet with him after this weekend at which point he will lean towards OSU again...round and round it goes *sigh*
“The teams that don’t respect their coaches and don’t trust their coaches are the teams that go .500"
~Zach Boren
To be fair, Steve actually said that his source "feels" like Quick was leaning towards UL.
It wasn't right from Quick's mouth like when he said OSU was leading.
Let's all be honest with ourselves... Last night was pretty impressive my Strong and L'ville. Not only did their offense put up points, but their defense was pretty darn good too. If Quick goes to L'ville it's not the end of the world. We might be able to flip Stringfellow or pick up Timmons/Elder. I know a 12-0 season is very impressive by us, but if you're 50/50 up until last night you have to be impressed with the game and probably leaning toward L'ville. Urban is an exceptional recruiter tho, so we can bet he is on the phone with Quick all the way up until NSD.
Honestly, he has always wanted to stay home. It's the appeal of tOSU, national exposure, Urban, etc that has given us the ability to try and pull him away. But since they already had a several point advantage, last night is probably the nail in the coffin.
There is only one situation in which I worry about Quick's recruitment and it's this. If Quick commits to UL on Sat, it's too bad cuz he was a top target but we do have a full month to recruit Elder, Timmons, Wilson ect.
However, let's say Quick picks OSU on Sat but over the course of the month leading up to NSD gets the pressure or second thoughts of needed to stay home at UL and then flips on NSD. By then the ship will have sailed on not just Quick but our backup options as well.
That is the one senario that I worry about with Quick.
good thought here... i think once hes in the fold (if he does commit), Urban will keep him on board, especially this close to NSD...the recruitment of Quick wont end with a commitment, think Urban keeps the pressure on if he picks OSU...but, you are very correct in that even if he does pick UL, plenty of time to get similar talent at the WR position, I think Wilson would be an incredible (and surprising) addition to the class
I do not know where Quick will end up, but what I do know is that Teddy Bridgewater is a beast.
comment has already been made here, but Geno Smith had a similar bowl outing last year in a BCS bowl against a tough defense, dont get too ahead of ourselves with this Bridgewater beast mode stuff, the UL team we saw last night wasnt the UL team that has played the other 12 games IMO, if Rutgers didnt blow that lead, it would have been them against Florida, not UL and this Bridgewater beast mode stuff wouldnt have much fire...kid is awesome and is incredbily accurate but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves
+1
I'd argue that the Rutgers game is where he really got into beast mode. Dude had a broken left wrist and a sprained ankle, ran everything out of the shotgun and still went 20-28 with 268 and a pair of TDs
You use awesome & incredibly accurate...I use beast. Also Geno Smith had an awesome year after his coming out party in the bowl game last year. I do not understand your statement.
I put this comment in the Skull Session because I just don't understand why everyone is ripping Geno Smith for his season. West Virginia was bad, but that's not on Geno. Anyway, here's the comment:
Just because West Virginia's season didn't go well doesn't mean Geno Smith wasn't any good. Dude threw for 4200 yards, 42TD's and only 6 picks and had a 71.2% completion percentage. West Virginia was bad, but it wasn't on Geno.
RGIII had just under 4300 yards, 37 passing TD's, a 72% completion and 6 picks and won a Heisman in the same conference.
Just food for thought.
I dunno about you guys, but I can't wait untill this kid chooses which school he is going to.. I feel as if we may miss out on other "backup" targets if things keep getting strung along.. Just my opinion..do I think we will be fine without quick, yes.. But oh would I love to hear "braxton miller finds james quick yet again for 6" come from Paul Keihl's mouth!
I am not sure why we are holding on to this kid. There is no way he is coming here.
That seems to be a bit of an over-statement
Agreed. The whole thing has a Stefon Diggs feel to it. I'd be stunned if he comes here.
The good news is that it might allow an Elder or Timmons to come.
FWIW and to answer the OP, apparently Steve Wiltfong of 247 (which I got from jbook's Twitter) has heard Quick is now leaning Louisville due to last night's Sugar Bowl victory. Take it with a grain of salt but just wanted to pass it along.
In all honesty, this kid leans quite a lot.
