The 11W guys are reporting that Timmons' visit to Columbus has been cancelled. It doesn't look like he will be a part of this class. The staff is either shooting for 1 more WR or are confident they will get Gibson plus 1 of Elder/Smith.

Think Gibson or Smith walk away commited by the end of their visit, maybe both.
Indeed. Gotta think the staff feels good with the group of Smith, Gibson and Elder--just have to wait to see which become Buckeyes.
Rumors have it Smith is on Commit Watch right now!
Source?
Read it off jbooks twitter, assume he got it off 247 since he is VIP over there.
Jbook is a very reliable source also. has alot of good inside info as well
#Buckeyes
The saga of Timmons/OSU/11W should replace the story of Marcus Dupree on ESPN's 30/30 "The Best that Never Was". Too bad we'll never know what would have been. Thanks to Waycraken, it will give me a player on an SEC school to cheer for.
Sucks for real. Thank you tatgate. I really believe the staff could see his potential, but just could not justify using a scholarship on a set of skills that they already have well covered.
In a year with full scholarships, I think the staff would have taken him months ago, just on his potential as a deadly kick returner.
Good Luck, Ryan Timmons.
I think the staff will probably push Gibson and Smith both for at least a silent verbal this weekend. Gotta know how to finish out the class.
Good luck to Timmons elsewhere. Wish we could've squeezed him into this class. I hate turning down talented kids that would love to be Buckeyes. Hope he ends up at Kentucky
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Timmons will go to uk I think smith is to ohio state
Wait, I'm not sure I'm reading this right? Timmons was a back-up (read: emergency) plan behind a litany of other WR options and his offer wasn't contingent on James Quick saying yes or no to Ohio State?
That can't be possible.
I think they only wanted him if they couldn't land an outside WR like Quick, Smith, and Gibson. Timmons had his chance at camp to rip that offer from the Bucks but Lee and Jacobs earned theirs instead. I hope he becomes the next Randall Cobb or better for UK.
If he does end up at UK, I think he will thrive in Neal browns offense. He will get plenty of touches (assuming they have a halfway decent qb)
Timmons was supposed to visit this weekend. The staff told him if he didn't have an offer by the time he left he would need to go ahead and look at other options. The 11W staff reported tonight that the visit had been cancelled and speculated it was cancelled by the OSU side. Waycracken is saying that Timmons cancelled the trip and the OSU staff is now trying to get him to come up.
No matter who cancelled, good for the kid. He's always been an emergency plan in the staff's eyes and the way he has been drug around has been hard to watch. Time for him to move on (for the better) and time for this board to finally get over this absurdness.
If Timmons pans out the way a lot of people on this site think he will the staff will be kicking themselves for a long time.
Eh it's impossible for us to take them all. Next year will be even worse with the ridiculous talent eyeing us and less than 20 schollys available.
Which Smith is this? I haven't seen a first name from anyone yet I don't think?
Thanks
Corey Smith; JUCO WR (originally from Akron iirc).

Corey Smith
Corey Smith. JUCO WR committed to Miss St but is from Ohio. Could flip this weekend. I think Quick to L'ville made him a real possibility.
Thanks guys
Yep. Time to move on. I wish the kid luck (kind of hope he does go to UK; they just signed Lovell Petersen, another kid who really wanted a Buckeye offer) and will keep my eyes and ears open for news of him.
If he has an offer from L'ville he needs to go down there with Quick. They just snagged a 4* QB in the 2014 class too. I have a feeling Drew Barker will get slow played like Timmons and end up at UK or L'ville too.
Barker is only behind one QB right now, he will in no way end up in Timmons boat.
His current "slow play" is not about how the staff views him (as the staff clearly never viewed Timmons as more than the Xth emergency option) and far more about how high Meyer is on Watson. I would think the staff would have a far stronger grasp on where they really stand with Watson after the Georgia Invasion in February.
Who is Barker behind? I've heard this before but I've never heard anyone in particular named.
Deshaun Watson
DeShaun Watson, a soft Clemson commit that is visiting in February and pretty much the perfect Urban Meyer QB. Kid is insanely talented and currently has OSU at #2.
Watson... he's the Georgia Qb currently commited to Clemson. He is the #1 QB on the staff's board.
Cause I couldn't go for three
Thanks guys. An upvote to all, and to all a good night.
Deshaun Watson. Soft Clemson commit and a heck of a QB! Visiting in February with the rest of Georgia's best!.
well if timmons is uk bound, good, i will get to see him play as a freshman and become a star in the SEC. he will get more playing time at uk than he would at TOSU.
Im hoping this chapter is closed as well at this point. There is a lot more to this story however and it comes down to other opportunities and only 2 visits left. I believe OSU has always been straight forward and a mutual agreement exists. Timmons still loves Coach Meyer and OC and understood where he stands.
So, is there ever a chance that Uncle Waycraken tells us all the details?
I really wanted to see Timmons in this class. I hope he does well wherever he ends up.
Help is on the way.
Mutual agreement or not, it was akin to watching one of those old cartoons where the dog has a stick tied to it's back with an unreachable steak at the end of it.
as I said on the other thread:
"Whatever... moving on. He probably wasn't gonna be part of this class anyway."
Cause I couldn't go for three
Help is on the way.
It's too bad. Waycracken had me convinced and I wAnted to see Timmons as a part of this class. This class is nonetheless amazing, but had we not had the reduction in scholarship, Ryan would be a parr of this group. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up
Smith and Gibson on commit watch, Elder a good chance now.
Help is on the way.
This makes the most sense
Buckeyestu. I think you said your wife works with his mom. Maybe you can clear this up.
I'll be shocked if it happens
A lot of folks are saying that it looks good for Elder, and that Smith/Gibson are on commitment watch.
Help is on the way.
How are these 3 guys going to play out? Will the staff take a commitment from any of them at anytime or will they give Gibson a chance first, Smith second, and Elder third? I assume they have a preference based on need, but I'm assuming 1 of them will want to commit this weekend. Anybody got info on how that will play out?
@ waycracken: my wife is actually my fiancee. we arent married, however she knows timmons mother. when she will see/talk to her again is anyones guess. my fiancee says it is very unlikely his mother will approve of him going to florida, even though joker has contacted ryan, it is very doubtful he will be a gator. my fiancee and i both expect timmons to be a wildcat. as much as i want to see ryan in scarlet and gray, i think he is better off playing time wise, to go to uk. either one is a win win for me. frankfort isnt far from lexington.
I remember fiancee now, sorry about that. Thanks for your input. I hope hhe goes to UK.
Feel bad for the kids who really want Buckeyes
Channel 18 Lexington News last night spent a few minutes last night covering UK football in the midst of BB season. Their feature was Timmons cancelled visit to OSU and what that could mean for UK. Reports are he decided to cancel without the offer and if an offer was to come he would reschedule. This apparently was understood and mutually agreed upon by both sides with all friendship intact. Good Luck Ryan.
With that said I think we end up with Smith and Elder. Something doesnt add up with Gibson. My choice would be Gibson and Elder. Elder is better than Jacobs hands down.
Okay, now that makes perfectly good sense. The kid is limited to just a few more official visits. No way you want to waste one on a school you may not be able to attend if you want to.
Still hope!
Does anyone else hope that we don't take Gibson, Smith, AND Elder?
Just too many IMO.
You can never have enough playmakers!
So,..Smith > Timmons?
How come I'm not convinced. Hmmm....I too hate seeing excellent players that want to be Buckeyes get turned away. Smith shows up very late to the party and Timmons has been patiently waiting and loyal and he's the man left out? I assume the staff knows what they are doing here.
More and more, I'm finding it hard to believe that Quick and Timmons were potentially taking up the same spot. They really need a true WR in this class. Quick was it, maybe Smith is it now, and if they can't find one, maybe they'll accept more HS RB, slot back types (ie. Elder, Timmons).
I'm going to look for Smith's JUCO tape now.
Can't remember where I read it, but someone posted that Smith has advanced his game tremendously since HS, becoming a very polished route runner to go along with great athleticism. So it may really be the case that Quick was #1 as a pure WR, and Smith was #2.
I was really hoping for Timmons man... best of luck to him
smith makes a ton of sense due to scholie situation. and as this offense grows from this year to next is there anyone who really doesnt believe in 2014 we can do better than any of these guys at the moment? quick would of been the stud of the group but he went else where. its already been said that 2014 class will be important for the receivers and im sure the coaching staff is all over it.
I dont know karate but i do know crazy and i'm not afraid to use it.
&
Just wondering if this class is running out of room quicker than they thought.
"It's just another case of there you are". ~ Doc (1918-2012)
Exactly. I can't see the need for 3 more wr/ath players.
