I held absolutely nothing against either of the two at the time of their decommits, although the situation around the Anzalone decommitment made me very uneasy. Now I can't help but think that will the staff's quick reaction and relentless recruiting that they have us in a much better position as I feel Mitchell and Johnson are better overall athletes and chances at being playmakers down the road.

Who is this Anzalone character you speak of? I've not heard anything about him....
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Isn't is one of those Italian dishes, where you put the meatball in then wrap the dough around it. You could couple it with some grilled zucchini or asparagus. Also a side of crisp garlic bread...
Oh my God I want Carrabba's right now..
~Because we couldn't go for three~
I grill a hell of a lemon rosemary asparagus, I'll tell you that. As for the anzalone, I'm pretty sure it's like a calzone.
Hmm I thought it was like the mollusk abalone
he reminds me of that kid in that movie, Home Alone!
I thought we were talking World War 2 with the "Beachhead at Anzio" or the "Guns of Navarone". I'm confused.
Yeah you're gonna have to explain who this Anzalone is. I'm lost.
Those names do not ring any bells. As for the current class, I am excited for them.
~Because we couldn't go for three~
And Auburn fell apart on the field and fired their head coach...have to add that in the is everyone else glad question because without those happening...Johnson would be at Auburn and we would not be glad Anzalone and Neal decommitted...
But yes I am glad now!!!!!!!!!!
Trey and Mike are going to DOMINATE!!! Hopefully
I don't think it would have mattered. Worley is still a possibility and Urban would have switched someone eventually. Johnson is just a cherry on the top of what this class would have ended up at.
Only time will tell which players out of this class pan out or excel, but pulling in a top-5 recruit at both ILB and OLB positions is impressive, regardless of the circumstances. I think Neal just was too jumpy and wanted to stay in the South all along. I'm over the Anzalone situation completely and I think our staff handled it amazingly. He's where he wants to be and we have stud LB recruits. Everybody wins.
Neal I'm not that worried about, Anzalone is still a great LB prospect and would have been a great add.
I like my calzones with extra cheese

circumstances that surrounded Anzalone's commitment left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth but at the same time I couldnt care less about a non-Buckeye commit once he has decided to bail on the bucks...do feel that Mitchell is a heck of a lot better prospect than Anzalone and Trey Johnson is going to be awesome for our defense
I was never super impressed with Neal on film, but Anzalone caught my eye-- there's no doubt he would have been a great grab, but I'm beyond satisfied with the way the LB class has finished out.
Remember that in the end you will be judged not by what you believed, planned or dreamed; but, by what you did.
Sal Anzalone da jabroney. LOL
I really don't care about Anzalone or Neal just because we've know for a long time they weren't going to be in this class. The guys we did it seem athletic and motivated to get on the field as freshmen, so I'm happy.
Anzalone = Andrew Sweat redux. Much more excited re: Johnson and Mitchell.
Wish we could've landed Jaylon Smith. Other than that, very happy with the Mitchell/Johnson/Lewis combo.
I'm glad anzalone isn't on the squad just because his name is spelled to much like analzone

You owe me an explanation for how one joke made you spit out an entire cup of coffee haha. You may need to go back and reassess your consumption techniques.

if/when he gets playing time i am screaming that incessantly at the tv
I like football
Honestly, everytime I heard his name on here all I could think of was danger zone. I'm on the highway to the analzone.
But further, I wasn't high on Lewis Neal from the get go.

Yes.
Class of 2010.
Still like Anzalone a lot as a player...Lewis Neal is really good too, but I think I like Alex as a player a bit more. Johnson and Mitchell were nice "fall back options" though haha
Alex, who would you have preferred, Mitchell or Anzalone? I think Mitchell is at least as good as if not better.
I think losing Jaylon was a much bigger miss. I just don't see Anzalone being missed as much with Mitchell.
Anzalone wasn't recruited at the MLB spot, I don't believe, so you'd have to compare him to Johnson primarily.
Mitchell, being the athletic marvel that he is, certainly has more upside than Anzalone and just about any other linebacker in the class. Not saying he's going to be the best I'm just saying he has the physical tools to be just that.
I think I prefer Mike Mitchell over almost every other LB in the country not named Jaylon Smith
Wish we still had Anzalone, but I could go either way on Neal. Very happy with Tyquan.
I agree Alex. Anzalone"s decision to decomitt was a loss. Getting both Mitchell & Johnson puts the Anzalone saga to rest. Neal, to be honest, I did not think that highly of.
Meh, I don't worry about the guys who didn't want to be here. As Patches O'Houlihan says, "No crying over the breastmilk." I'll take the kids who signed and say the are as good if not better than the guys we missed.
Except for Smith, he is going to be a beast.

I think the two in this thread have different skill sets as well as ablilities. However, Johnson is ranked higher and so is Mike. I'm happier with the two we have now...as a very important lady to me always says, "Everything happens for a reason."

I think it's just a testament to where the program is heading - you lose two quality recruits and two more take their place. I think we're going to continue to see this trend. You have to love this staff. They are relentless.
Anzalone no, Neal yes.
What's really great in all of this is that the coaches didn't settle. Kimbrough would have accepted, and likely McCray (had we offered sooner), but they weren't as high on the board and the patience was rewarded. Mitchell has to work on not overpursuing and getting out of position, but he seems like a hard worker who will do what it takes to play, so I expect big strides from him.
This is a conversation to be had in 4 years.
Wanted Smith more.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Id still take anzalone but I like mitchell n johnson more.
