Gene Smith okay with OSU and TTUN being in same division

Wouldn't this hurt the rivalry?  Who cares if we play against each other the last game of the season plus in the B1G Championship game?

That would be fine with me.Whatever makes the league better, in the long run.Would much rather clean their clock early and knock them out of any contention of a Big Ten Championship game, then worry about being in separate divisions. And yes I know,we would skip playing them every 2 years as well, but we're gaining 2 more teams ,so I'd be good with it.

How many seasons in recent years would OSU and Michigan have already locked up divisional titles by The Game?  I could see it happening fairly often.  I think the game would be much more intense if the divisional title/conference championship game berth is on the line every year.  Plus, most big rivalries accross NCAA all occur in the same division: Alabama/Auburn, Oregon/Oregon St, Washington/Washington St, Duke/UNC, FSU/Clemson, OkSt/Oklahoma/Texas/TexasAM/Tech were all in the same division etc etc.

Agree with everything above.  OSU and tTUN should be in the same division.  It bothered me that they weren't...I don't see what it would prove if we did play in The Game and then tB1G title game.  It wouldn't make sense really....not to mention...what if we are unbeaten...and then lose to them in the title game...then be on the outside looking in.  As tTUN goes to the Rose Bowl with a 9-4 or 10-3 record (or worse...like Wiscy this year and be 8-5).  It just doesn't seem fair really if that were to happen...and it very well could.

Always hated the idea of a rematch and always will.

I've posted this many times when this topic comes up: The possibility that one or both teams don't take The Game seriously because they will have a guaranteed shot the next week makes me physically ill.

Do we remember Stanford vs. UCLA this past year? Is that what we want?

I want both teams in the same division. This rematch crap is the brainchild of the same folks who gave us LEADERS and LEGENDS.

I HATE the idea of a rematch. The game would lose all of its importance

Beating down M*chigan twice a year would never lose value.

It would certainly be the easiest way to protect the last game of the season tradition.

I never liked the idea of a rematch either.  That's part of why this rivalry is so great - one meeting with everything on the line.  No second chances.  You don't get it done this year in The Game - better luck next year.
