Thanks for the welcome! I have followed this site for awhile now but I never realized it was free to have an account. I always thought it would be a paid site likebucknuts is. Glad it is though!
I attend law school at tOSU but before that I lived in Coral Gables. I am writing this post from Coral Gables now. Miami fans are the worst. There could be a game going on and you wouldn't know it. The most fair weather fans ever. Most of the people in Miami don't understand American sports, or are first generation sports fans. There isn't information passed from their fathers or a plug into history.
Also they are so lucky. Marlins have won two world series, Miami multiple national titles, Heat multiple championships in the last 20 years. Meanwhile, Ohio sports fans have had a single NC and no other sports championships in the same period.
I know a bit off topic but the fans here infuriate me.
You forgot the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their Super Bowl win, and the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Stanley Cup. ; )
The Rays also almost won a world series a few years ago.
You are correct though, Miami fans are some of the worst out there. Went to the OSU vs Miami game in 2011 and it was one of the worst times ever dealing with rude, obnoxious fans. It didn't help that we lost that game.
Come to think of it, Virginia Tech fans are pretty obnoxious. They never win big games outside Lane Stadium and their fans act as if beating UVA is an accomplishment. Though, they do at least fill their little stadium.

Even Herbie was commenting on the arrogance of the Gator players. It was a perfect display of how the SEC thinks everyone should bow down and fold at the thought of playing them. I loved watching it, in spite of the fact we may lose Quick. It was worth every second of it. My favorite scripture saying is "Pride comes becfore a fall", and fall they did! So far as I can recall, the only teams that the SEC have beat are the B1G teams. smh.
Wish I could upvote you. I would feel pretty bad about your last statement, but we were completely outmatched and those games were supposed to be losses by 2 possessions. I'm actually happy that they were as close as they were!
Muschamp's interview they ran going into a commercial pre-game...not sure on exact quote but I remember these tidbits. We have the best coaches, players and are the best conference. Ha
i'll give you that. good point. I guess i was talking more about the fact that Miami was the defending champs and was riding a 34 game winning streak. we were given no chance by any media.
and Boise winning the way they did against Oklahoma was just amazing.
Didn't Tyler Moeller say after the Gator Bowl last year that the UF players were flinging racial slurs and other classy comments toward OSU? I don't seem to think Urban Meyer would condone such a thing. Muschamp and his staff I think are the college version of the NY Jets. Muschamp is Rex Ryan. Ever a classy gentleman. His players sure play like it. Those 2 unsportsmanlike penaltes vs. Louisville to start the 2nd half would've blown Coach Meyer's gasket.

Hats off to U of L . I'm not sure if the game last night proves that Louisville is the "better" team, but it sure was nice to see an S-E-C team go down hard. I loved evey single second of it. To me, the Sugar Bowl said a lot more about Florida than it did Louisville. I was not expecting anything from Louisville, and so they definitely exceeded my expectations. This was a Louisville team that lost by almost 20 to Syracuse and lost in 3 overtimes to UConn, but still they came to play last night. But for Florida, my expectation was that they would win going away, which was foolish, cause I had watched them some this year and was not impressed. This was a Florida team that was supposed to be the 2nd "best" team in the "best" conference in the history of western civilization and the 3rd "best" team in the country. Not so much.
I would say for the game last night Louisville was better. And you're right, it could've been worse. But I'm not willing to say U of L is a better team overall than Florida.
As much as I hate to admit it, Florida was a very good team this year. They beat 4 teams ranked in the top 12. They won at FSU and at Texas A&M. They beat LSU and South Carolina at home. I mean, they had a more impressive resume then either team in the national title game.
I agree with you 1,000%! The SEC isn't that great this year. I think OVERATED is the word. Other teams are catching up to the SEC, including the B1G. We were very competitive this year. I'm sick of everyone falling all over them. 2 of their top teams got smoked this year. We'll see how the rest of the bowl games play out.
No question they are good, that is obvious based on their record, but they lost on a neutral field.
This is the beauty of college football.
I will be annoyed if UF is ranked higher in the final rankins. That should be interesting. Same record, similar score against a mutual opponent and UL crushed UF.
Teddy was seriously injured in the Uconn game and they really aren't much without him. The Syracuse game was a really off day for Louisville and it is pretty tough to play in their home. Plus Syracuse wasn't that bad of a team.
but at the same time, I said take Louisville and the points but Florida will win. I thought they were going to give Florida some unexpected trouble, but nothing like that. It was awesome. Second favorite bowl season moment behind the Clowney bell ringer.
I knew if Louisville could catch florida early they had a chance. Florida is a second half team and if it was close, they would have pulled it out. Florida really had no chance. Louisville curb stomped them early on and if it wasn't for the fact they couldn't run the ball, would have been up at least 44-10 at one point. Again goes to show how amazing Bridgewater is and a real contender with Braxton for Heisman hopeful.
This is not meant as an excuse for UF but rather a condemnation; they did not come to play and Louisville did and the difference that attitude makes could be seen both on the field and on the scoreboard. I've gotten the feeling this bowl season the many of the SEC players have bought into the SEC hype. Louisville made them pay for their cockiness, as did Clemson and NW. Michigan almost did, but they Hoked, I mean choked, no I guess I mean Hoked.
I actually think if they did bring it, it still might have gone Louisville's way. Florida was way overhyped and really should have been a 2-3 lose team going in. If FIU can almost beat Florida, then Louisville should have a chance. still was a surprise but I don't classify this as a huge upset because Florida being overhyped.
I agree, but I think it would have at least been close. The surprising thing isn't just that Louisville won, it's that it wasn't even close. They flat out dominated the Gators on both sides of the ball. Had the Gators respected Louisville they might not have found themselves down 14-0 so quickly and might have been able to play ball control with Gillislie to keep the ball out of Bridgewater's hands. As it was, they walked into that game and got pantsed, and by the time they realized they might actually lose to Louisville they were playing catch up, a type of game they were not capable of winning.
Just to let you all know, I went over to the Orlando Sentinel's site and Mike Bianchi's article about Florida's embarassment last night did not contain the words "Urban" or "Meyer". I figured for sure he'd try to spin the game as Urban's fauly.
Let's all just be grateful we didn't have to see this clownshow play Bama for the MNC. We were just a couple Kiffins away from another complete waste of everybody's time. What a joke.
I was never convinced that they were top-3 worthy at any point this season. But Louisville is playing great football.
Even after all the flags the Gator players are still acting like a bunch of clowns.

Down by 20. They were stuffing runs and doing their little "look at me" dances.
Their fans were doing the Gator Chomp thing while down by 20.
It was truly a weird thing to witness.

My guess is Mike Bianchi's already got an article written to spin this dreadful bowl performance so that Urban is to blame not Muschamp.

5k is being generous.
But how can you expect the fans to show up when half the time the team doesn't.

Florida played cheap the entire game. Karma is a bitch, and tonight, UF got slapped like one.

I still say this Sugar Bowl was better (We all know it happened)
I refuse to vacate that game because the NCAA declared them as eligible.
That is my #1 Sugar Bowl also. However, I really enjoyed sitting in the midst of the UF fans tonight.

KG!
One of the most satisfying victories ever. But I could have done without that 2nd half. I think I almost cried when they blocked the punt. lol

I was there... I saw it happen. And I couldnt speak for two days after it.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
I was too, that place was super loud especially considering it wasn't full.
Great game. I was there, it happened.
Can we piggyback on the whole "but for Ohio State" thing and make a "but for the SEC" meme?
I missed the end of the game, were Florida fans chanting SEC?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
I would describe it as "stunned silence".

Saw where Sharrif Floyd and Matt Elam are going pro. The cupboard is really bare now.
Enjoyed the SEC getting beatdown last night!
Urbana fault... Him leaving put munched in charge giving Florida no hope...

Vanderbilt did beat North Carolina State. SEC in bowls is 2-1 vs. the Big Ten, 1-1 vs. the ACC, and 0-1 vs. the Big East.

The sportsmanship was so bad in this game,I thought I was watching the Miami Hurricanes
I think it's a Florida (state) thing.
Add florida fans to the dumpster fire. Meyer made this man do this
I thought I seen this last night but wasn`t sure if someone would really do that at a game.Loser
That's a man?
Louisville players were classy as heck! I like Strong. I don't want him to get quick, but I like the guy.
Strong looked ... very strong indeed. Intense dude. I thought he was going to rip out of that shirt.
Muschamp's interview they ran going into a commercial pre-game...not sure on exact quote but I remember these tidbits. We have the best coaches, players and are the best conference. Ha
SEC can't handle Big East SPEED LOL. Greatest upset in BCS history and I love the fact the receiver of it was a 1 loss SEC team.
greatest in history?!
Not even close
OSU over Miami was bigger and so was Boise over Oklahoma
I actually think it was the biggest by point spread. I think Ohio State was a 12 point underdog in that game. Louisville was 14 1/2 last night.
i'll give you that. good point. I guess i was talking more about the fact that Miami was the defending champs and was riding a 34 game winning streak. we were given no chance by any media.

Based on what? They played at a neutral site and UL smoked them.
Consider:
2 missed field goals
1 FL TD on a punt return
1 FL TD on a "trick" play
Do you think the better team always wins a game?
Always, no, almost always yes, last night, yes.
Do you think the team that comes in "better" always leaves as the better team?
By your logic, were the 2002 Miami Hurricanes better than the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes?
They came in better, the game was closer than last night, what is the difference?

Off topic, but if Herbie uses the phrase "SEC speed" one more time, I think my head will explode!
All of that SEC speed is slowly turning into Urban's speed.
This is not meant as an excuse for UF but rather a condemnation; they did not come to play and Louisville did and the difference that attitude makes could be seen both on the field and on the scoreboard. Just to get it right; OSU was an 18 point dog against Miami. I bet the game and cleaned up on my team.

Then there are fires like this even when they win, like endangering the lives of Gainseville firefighters and no one really caring.
(Disclaimer: Yes, I was there after beating Michigan in 2002, and yes, I realize that Ohio State has its own share of black eye celebrations....)
The SEC will solve this problem by expanding further and invite Louisville. If you can't beat 'em have 'em join ya!
