Did anyone see this great tweet/quote from Wes Welker's wife? Wes had some drops that hurt but she was on her game:
"Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!" - Anna Welker... I don't think she should have apologized like she did. She should have stuck to her, um, "guns" (see below).

i saw wes welker in a weight room once, he looks likes the farthest thing from a football player. Still can't believe the Ravens won :/ i hate the ravens

If he takes care of his kids, so what? :/ She's just bitter her man got sent home early.
She's married, so I don't care what she looks like.

Kudos to this young woman!
She hit the nail on the head. She is not only (obviously) beautiful, but smart and gutsy, too.
The murky murder situation tied to Ray Lewis is one thing, then the children born out of wedlock is another thing.
Like it or not, and whether they choose to or not --- today's star athletes ARE examples to the youth of America. That's just a fact that won't change. So if you're a star athlete, you should try to set a good example. I don't care what anybody says - you should for your own children at least.
America's leaders - past and present, both sides of the aisle, have failed this country on some fronts. Namely in regards to addressing the wedlock issue. Not a lot of people want to address it, but she does. Maybe Twitter isn't the best place to vent thoughts like that, but the classless Ravens have no room to speak with all of their remarks. The government of this country for decades now has put the inner-city youth, mainly the black child, though a vicious cycle. Entitlement programs, welfare, etc., are not meant to really care about the child, but to rather buy the votes of now-dependant people. It is sick and it is a crying shame. The children of this country, no matter what their race, class, creed, etc.. ... deserve better.
* Did you know that nearly 81% of first born children to black mothers are born out of WEDLOCK in this country today!?! That is just a shame. About 8 out of every 10 black kids born are without a father. The lack of family, in many parts of our country, is ruining the hopes of our future.
So, to see that Ray Lewis has fathered 6 kids to 4 different women...that is so irresponsible. Of course he can afford it....for now. But, that's not the point...99.9% of the people looking up to him can't afford it. It's just a bad example. It is the problem (in the inner-city and throughout the black community, mainly) that nobody wants to talk about or address, but it needs to be addressed. I'm sure this will get some downvotes, but I don't care. This isn't a political statement, not all a Democrat or Independant or Republican problem...but an American problem. It's heartbreaking. Remember, think about it - 8 out of every 10 black babies are born out of wedlock. That's not right. People in positions of power need to be more respsonsible and set better examples. Hanging out with criminals and murderers isn't a good move, either.
With Breaking Bad, expect that number to go up because of people thinking they can be successful drug dealers.
Either that, or it'll frighten them so much of all the trouble they have to go through to live and not get caught that they won't go near drugs. Give or take.

People can be successful drug dealers... for a while.

Im pretty sure she wasn't thinking of any of that you just posted with her comments. Her comments were comming from the hurt, make that butt-hurt over her husband playing sub-par and getting a case of the drops. This is not the first time (check last years superbowl). Im not saying what you posted is wrong, however i feel it had jack to do with what she was doing.. Which was a hurt person lashing out..
I also laugh at the comment "This isnt a political statement".Kinda sounds like one... also reminds me of folks saying no disrespect before saying something disrespectful or "some of my best friends are/i have friends that are" insert ethnic group that fits...continue on with your hate masked as caring..
@ PETEBUC:
"hate masked as caring" ?
Get a clue you hack.
Sore loser welker family. Lewis is far better than wes could dream to be. Key word acquitted of murder nit guilty. She's butt hurt lol

Sure, she only said that out of frustration but it doesn't make the statement any less true.

Exactly its true he was acquitted and not guilty of murder. And ifbhe has 4 baby mims who cares they are all taken care of good for him. He's the best lb in nfl history n welkers team won't even sign him to a contract he wants. This is hilarious. He's not paid to he a role model he's paid to make tackles and he does better than anyone ever.

He was acquitted because his buddies took the fall for him and he made some very nice payouts to the families of the two victims.
True, he's not paid to be a role model. However, Ray Ray is a made out to be a role model by a media who glorifies him and omits the negative things he has done. 4 baby mamas just means he has no respect for fidelity or his children. The only reason it isn't bigger news is because Ray Ray has the money to pay all of them. Without money, Ray Ray would just be part of a disturbing norm that prevails through a certain part of America.

And what "certain part of America" might that be? Just curious. Would LOVE to see a response here.

The "best Linebacker in NFL history?"....I have guys by the names of Butkus, Taylor, Huff, Nitschke,Lambert, Hamm and whomever else I missed that is worthy that would like to protest your statement
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
...and Mike Singletary
D. Anthony
and if you want to go outside linebacker, gotta include Lawrence Taylor.
Ray Lewis was not acquitted of murder. He was never (fully) tried for murder. He
plea dealedplea dealtplea deal'daccepted a plea bargain. Hepledpleaded* guilty to lesser charges in exchange for his testimony against his friends. So he's a criminal and a rat.Certainly he is no one to be looked up to or to be glorified in any way. It's really a shame that the media allows these types of things to be ignored in search of the almighty dollar.

Welker is not the player that Ray is and never will be...on top of that Wes will probably never even be acquitted of murder or have 4 baby mama's. What a loser.
D. Anthony
Again, if he takes care of his kids, why is this being brought up?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
There's far more to taking care of ones children than just giving them money and buying them things.
I think Dick Butkus may go down as the best LB in NFL history.
Lawrence Taylor, Jack Lambert, Ray Nitschke, and some others may have a say in that, too.
I'm a big Chris Spielman guy, too. For most people, he won't go down as one of the best in NFL history...but, in my book, if he plays his whole career, healthy, and for better teams, maybe - he could be in the Hall of Fame.
I don't know if anyone else caught the NFL Network special A Football Life with Chris Spielman, but I highly recommend it. It's on youtube, too. I will embed the link.
He's a really inspirational man. And, for the record, he is a great example of how to be a great husband and father.
Fabulous documentary

Here are some new careers for Ray Ray now that he's less than two weeks from retirement. All are pretty funny and some have a sinister (and true) background.

you can see my post again yay lol. I respect all your opinions but I think ray is the best mlb ever in the nfl. I'm only 24 granted. Either way u slice it he was not guilty of murder and has done amazing philanthropy work in baltimore the past ten years. The murder thing was ugly but he got off so he's clean in my book. Innocent until proven guilty right. As far as the 4 baby mamas lol idc how many kids or woman he has. Its not my place to judge him on that. Go baby browns ( ravens) lol

I saw Butkus in Las Vegas in 2011 signing autographs and I must admit it was the first time I have ever actually been star-struck. Even though he had retired long before I was born his game films and the way he used to scare people were inspiring, especially when learning to play football as a kid. It is impossible for me to look up to anyone like LT or Ray Lewis just because they still pale in comparison to how great Butkus is. There's a reason an award is named after the guy.
"Sherman ran an option play right through the south" - Greatest.Civil.War.Analogy.Ever
I don't really want to start this full-fledged debate, but I feel it's pertinent to mention that like all sports, the game has evolved over the years. Who knows how the current competition level would compare with a guy like Butkus, or with Babe Ruth in baseball.
Or how good they could've been with the training opportunities at a young age that they would've been able to access in this day. Athletes today have more advantages (and less steroids) than they did 50 years ago.
/Duff'd It
Yeah that's why the competition level is what it is.
As a player Ray Lewis is every bit as good as those LB's mentioned above. He is a tackling machine and a great leader of several great defenses over the years. Off the field I think he is annoying, theatrical, and acts like a pro wrestler. Everyone bags on him and it may be rightfully so but the dude was one of the best at his position and will be a first ballot HOF'er.
Maybe she should not have referenced Wikiepedia. That would have made everything a little bit more legitimate.
What is the over/under on either team having to deal with off field "issues" in the next two weeks? It seems every year there is a story of a player/players getting involved in a bad situation. I don't understand, in the 2 weeks preceding the most important game of your life you decide that _______(fill in the blank) was a great idea?
The funny thing about the media is that they idolize Ray Lewis because of his work in the Baltimore area ,and forget that he had something do to do with the murder. And do not feed me the crap that he was innocent because innocent people do not pay off the families of the victims.
Then on the other hand Lance Armstrong who has done WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY more than Lewis is being demonized for PHD's.
