Both of his parents are Mizzou grads, so he does have some strong ties. My best guess is that he doesn't like the look of the depth chart with Hyde, Smith, Dunn, Ball, etc in front of him. Missouri is graduating a senior running back (Kendial Lawrence), and while the backups (specifically Marcus Murphy) have some experience, a recruit of Elliott's caliber could probably compete for touches from Day 1.
