“We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test,” ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys tweeted. “However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that.”

Not surprised they apologized. Tough job speaking live and filling time, too often these guys say things that really have nothing to do with the event. You couldnt turn on the t.v. or radio today without this subject being talked about, so no doubt an apology out of respect was necessary.
it was a little creepy (musburger is in his 70s!)
LOL, what he said wasn't THAT bad. A little creepy, yes. His wife may not be particularly happy with him. Conan is making fun of Brent on his show in a skit right now.
P.S.: Is she trending because of Brent, or because she's f'n hot?
Class of 2010.
That last question is rhetorical right? (Uh, the answer is YES and YES!)
Whoa. Thats all I got to say.
By the way wasnt it Musberger that was accussed of being a back biter?
that is Marv "the toupee" Alberts
That was marv alberts
Hotness is the prevailing factor I believe Showthemohioishere
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
It was a snoozer of a game, what did you expect?
I believe this was also mentioned in the original Katherine Webb thread: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/football/2013/01/the-most-uncomfortable-and-best-part-of-lastnights-game-katherine-webb
But like James Quick, you can never have too many Katherine Webb threads. Although Katherine Webb threads are MUCH better...
Edit: that's a really big picture.

"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
haha I needed that. +1
The apology was one of those pre-fab formalities, but I think the faux-outrage over the whole "situation" was a bit overdone. Creepy? Maybe. Out of line, ah, we're getting a little too sensitive as a society.
As one of my gay college friends said by way of explanation when he hit on my very straight roommate, "When you're hot, you're hot!"
I agree with Andy, creepy...prolly, a big deal...nah.
vacuuming sucks
This whole thing is PC BS. I actually really enjoyed her response: "It was nice. I didn't look at it as crepy at all. For a woman to be called beautiful, I don't see how that's an issue." I love how ESPN tends to hire very attractive talent (both male and female) like every other news organization does but when someone actually calls someone good looking they have to apologize for some reason? Idiocracy.
We've become a culture looking for a reason to be pissed off. I've always said that if you're looking for trouble, chances are you'll find it.
A man makes a comment about a woman that he finds attractive? HANG HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
A woman who intentionally seeks out affirmation that she is in fact beautiful by entering a contest to reinforce that fact. Oh the horror.
vacuuming sucks
No,No its ok for a woman to be a beauty queen but lord forbid a man make a disparaging comment about her by calling her.........'beautiful'. Oh, the shame!
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
I don't think it was worth all the talk it go. Someone above said it, Musberger is in his 70's. I worked at a retirement home for a few years and once men hit a certain age, they don't give a fuck. Hell even when I worked at a grocery store I used to hear old men say CRAZY stuff to highschool girls working in the bakery or cashiering. I'm not saying it's right, but his commentary really wasn't that big of a deal. The game sucked, she was hot, I wasn't mad at them for showing and talking about her.
What do I know though, I didn't think Corso should have to apologize for saying fuck it.
Sorry BT, my fingers are too big for my phone. Accidental downvote there.
But back on topic: I never thought Corso should have ever had to apologize for dropping the F-Bomb either. Apologize cause he's an idiot? Sure, but I think this all of this self-righteous, PC crap is a bunch of bull myself.
Musburger was a little over the top, but as you said..His commentary wasn't realy that big a deal. She wasn't upset and when questioned actually seemed quite flattered with it all.
“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
So basically BT, your saying at a certain age men become like the perverted grocery stoe-working stuffed bear on the movie 'TED'? I can see Musberger shooting loads of hand lotion all over pictures of katherine webb.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
LOL yes.
This is Brent Musburger......and you are looking live at one hot piece of ass!
"Because I couldn't go for 3"
If he actually said that i'd probably bust a lung from laughing.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Hilarious. I'm probably going to think of that comment for a while now when Brent does a broadcast...
On another note, ESPN's not renewing Rob Parkers contract. Adios Robert.
I have no idea why there was an apology. The fact that they felt required to apologize makes it creepy. It makes it seem as he is seen by his co-workers and the leaders of ESPIN as a shady dude. He should seek counsel.lol
Am I the only one who is not that creeped out about it...think about it when your older, you will still be attracted to these same girls. Look at Hef... I could see others viewpoints but c'mon, he's a man.
At first I didn't think it was a big deal but then I thought of my daughters and if someone did directed that to them. It would bother me a little bit too. I have two very pretty daughters and one is 15, the other 5 and if some guy was creeping on them like that, I would probably knock his teeth out. Although you have to wonder if Mooshbooger has real teeth.....lol
Well a father is always going to feel that way about his daughters. But didn't you kind of do that to their mother when you first saw her?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
They have two different mom's and NO I didn't! I did something else to them......lol
My dad used to tell me to not get mad when someone looked at my wife,he said to worry when they stopped looking
There's a huge difference between someone looking at your wife like she's hot and making rude comments to her!
He probably was thinking the same thing most guys (and some girls too) were. She pretty fricking hot and way more interesting than the game.
Espn is filling in the role of the angry wife quite well for Brent speaking his mind.
No need to apologize. Musberger is in his 70's, and has earned the right to be The Creepy Old Dude.
Fellas, Brent's just a ladies man. Always has been, always will be.
Looks like a young Marty Brenneman.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
Don't you dare throw Marty under that bus.
I didnt find anything musberger said out of the ordinary but in this twisted-ass world we now live in, any comment about a woman's good looks is seen as creepy. Remember, when musberger was growing up , the things he said would have been a flattering compliment to a woman. I'm guessing he got caught up in the moment and saw webb looking like she was about to enter a beauty pageant while surrounded by 'normal' looking women. She looked like the modern day Rita Hayward to him.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
It's probably because Brent was too drunk...
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."
Woody Hayes 1913 - 1987
What exactly was so offensive? Also, what demographic that watches college football found this to be offensive? Finally, the woman he was talking about was what exactly? A beauty queen who wins competitions based soley off of her beauty? Whatever. What Musberger said was a total non issue to me.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
It was a horrible game and Brent was trying not to lose viewers. He went a bit long winded in describing her beauty but I am certainly not concerned about anything he said.
besides, as typical of older 70ish gentlemen around younger men, they say things over the top to try and sound cool. He was trying to jumpstart Herbie a little talking about her subtle, pouting....er, Bama is still winning folks!

Not surprised only because of how big of a deal it became in the media/twit/web. I still don't think anything he said was even remotely inappropriate. Plus, if anything, it was an overreaction. There are several better lookers walking around the Short North any given Tuesday.
Bucktooooooooth, heeyaw.
Did ESPN watch this game....what was he supposed to talk about for three quarters ?
