Some more Dontre Wilson rumors:
Gerry Hamilton at 247Sports has a source who expects Dontre is likely to re-open his recruitment in the coming days and OSU is expected be the favorite and get an official for either 1/11 or 1/18.
Also states that this has nothing to do with Chip Kelly going to the NFL and there has been smoke behind the scenes for a while.
Obviously not official but he thinks the probability is very high.

Hopefully he does! Nothing against quick, but i think wilson is better
They dont play the same position...
No, but if they have Quick and then add Gibson and Worley, that puts the class at 24 commitments total. I guess 25 is possible, but I think 24 might be where the staff stops or at least slows down.

If the staff has room for 25, I think they know it now. Other spots might open up in the future, but wherever the staff stops in the next month, I believe, is the number they know they can manage.
That said, I'd be happiest with a finish of Gibson, Worley, Mitchell, Wilson, Bell.
This is who I hope we get too. And I think we already have Gibson, Worley and Mitchell. Just have to sway Bell and Wilson.
I realize that. I still think Wilson is better. He is just so fast
Right, but I think the offense needs a true WR, and Jacobs has a high ceiling, but hasn't proven anything yet. I think we'll see Gibson and Quick show out today, and it will become clear what we're dealing with.
Any guy scouted for Chip Kelly's offense has gotta be worried with Kelly gone. There's no way another coach can just come in and make a seamless transition, with the offense that Kelly excelled using. I dont blame the kid for looking around
Yes. And another concern he should have is that Oregon doesn't really 'feature' anybody (L James was a bit of an exception) and they recruit over top of their kids, so just because you earned a starting position or a lot of looks does not insure your keeping your job or your reps; and that is week to week as well as year to year.
the oregon oc is being promoted to head coach, if kelly moves on. the quack attack wont be changing. there should be no drop off in offensive philosophy, imo.
Which is why it's interesting that Gerry says that this isn't NFL related.
Wow, this kid is really pumping Oregon full of rainbows about his commitment then. He basically said this last week that he is all Oregon, and that Chip Kelly wasn't the reason he went there. He was comfortable with Helfrich taking over, and Coach Campbell was the real reason he was there (he even described him as "like a best friend"). It would be great to get him, that's for sure.
Now that Quick has chosen UL, I think Urban is gonna make a big push for Wilson. Kid is ridiculous with the ball in his hands!
Let's hope for Gibson and Wilson!!Wouldn't be disappointed with Elder or Timmons either!!
SCOTTC.
When was this rumor from? Apparently Wilson told ESPN last night that he is solid on Oregon even if Chip leaves for the NFL because Kelly's expected replacement is Oregon's current Offensive Coordinator, whom he has a good relationship with.
I believe the coaches know there is a limit to how far you can expect patience. Im sure at least 1 of 3 is committed by the end on next weekend. Gibson/Elder/Timmons.
Two quotes from Wilson
“I think the continuity of the program is still there,” Wilson added. “Coach Kelly came in from being the OC and he was very successful. I expect Coach Helfrich to be the same way.”
“The minute I saw Thomas return that kickoff I was ready to throw on a jersey,” Wilson added. “I’m 100 percent committed to Oregon.”
Still a month till NSD tho. Great weekend for Buckeye football tho. Yes the Quick loss hurts but let's welcome Mitchell and Johnson to Buckeye Nation!
The info is from 247Sports.
Steve Whitfong has been on this for the past couple of weeks, talking about the extreme posibility.
Now Gerry Hamilton is also reporting it from his inside source.
Also FWIW, on the Texas Rivals site, most are saying that there is a 95% chance that Wilson decommits from Oregon and commits to OSU. They have no dog in the fight.
Interesting to say the least.
Wondering if missing on Quick means Wilson and possibly La Rue will both be open to coming to OSU? That would be ok I think...if we could get one of those two with Gibson, Elder or Timmons. Should be interesting to see who OSU goes after now...
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."
Woody Hayes 1913 - 1987
LaRue is definintely open to coming to OSU, it's more an issue of OSU being open to him coming. He's said that he'd like to visit and would welcome any communication from UFM & Co.
Why haven't we been open to Larue before? Because we were waiting on Quick?
You're asking the wrong guy. I'm still lost on why we never offered Max Redfield, especially with all the talk about him really liking Ohio State.
Unless I see any credible info outside of message board speculation or 247 going out on a limb, I'm just going to assume Wilson is all duck
