You could probably make that argument. I don't think it's out of the question either. I still think ND played a very tough schedule despite what some will say.
I agree but they didn't have the top end teams other than Bama. They had very few "off weeks" and I beleive 8-10 of the teams they played were in bowl games.
When TAMU beat up OU I started to think ND was in trouble.
Could go either way on whether they should be ranked.
In terms of our game, we stunk it up with personal fouls, roughing the kicker, passing on 2nd and inches when we had just run all over them, dropped punt, weird symmetrical D Robinson sandwich touchdown, etc. So could not agree with you more that we should have obliterated them
I agree with hail...I think Florida's was slightly more difficult. Michigan's is easily top 3 though. But while trying not to look thru my homer glasses, I think we only lose a couple. We found a way to grind out victories and I think that goes a long way.
It's really kind of hard to say for me. I mean game one against Bama this team would of been curbstomped too. It really benefitted Urban and this team to get to have little resistance early on. They got to take some lumps but still win games and gain confidence. Had they got blasted right out of the gate, maybe they don't pull off all those close games.
I can't beleive I'm going here but here goes. Below are the teams ranked from both schools in order of final finish - UM had the top 3, UF had one more.
Florida def. had the toughest schedule this year IMO. actually your whole statement was pretty accurate. 3-5 of those teams could possibly have beaten us this year. I also think OSU could have possibly beat all those teams as well.
I guess if you take the final rankings litterally, and at face value, you have an argument. Florida beat TAMU and South Carolina and is now ranked below them. Most would admit, even before last night, that ND was overrated (I think they were, anyway).

I could agree, but let's face it, they deserve it.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
They don't deserve to be ranked though.
Their accomplishments consist of beating a good NW team and not getting killed by anyone other than Bama.
I think we played as bad as we possibly could have and could have made the game ugly.

I won't list all of Michigan's mistakes from that game, but we all know that it was far from error-free football/coaching.

and free first downs...
(sorry, not...)
I think Florida had a pretty difficult schedule, too.
@TAMU
@TENN
LSU
@Vandy
South Carolina
Georgia (neutral site)
@FSU
Louisville (Sugar Bowl)
Tougher than Michigan's, IMO, aside from Bama. 3-5 of those teams could probably beat both ND and OSU.

Yes, ND was very much overrated. They went undefeated and they're Notre Dame. That's why they received so much attention.
You know you can't play that game.
Louisville crushed UF and ranked below them.
