Ive seen several places that derrick green is looking hard at scUM and bonding with the commits at the all star game. I would really hate to see a guy that grew up idolizing eddie george and wears no. 27, go to scUM. i think hes gonna be an incredible Rb and probably just what they need bc they were terrible rushing this year. Dont get me wrong i wish him the best but hope he has his worst games against us if he does in fact commit to scUM. I know we cant get every recruit that wants to go to OSU but it sucks when we lose these guys that are top talents and they go to scUM. Alot of the best players they have every year in the game are kids that grew up OSu fans but for one reason or another go to scUM and tend to do well when we play. I hope from now on urban gets those kids that have ended up north in the past bc it"ll only help the arms race for the good guys. In the end i hope that deep down greens love for OSu forces him to go south. go bucks!

I trust in what Urban thinks because he decided not to pursue Green anymore. I do think Derrick is a great talent but I believe Zeke will be better than Green for our offense. Zeke will outperform Derrick in their 3-4 years IMO.
i lthink zekes gonna be amazing but very different than green. i think if we had the 3 schollies urban takes green no ? just wouldnt work with the #s limit. just dont wanna see green play for the skunk weasels bc i have visions of tim biakabatuka going for 300 yds vs eddie george running thru my head.
That is the gamble. It really has converted me to a recruitnik, because I wonder how some coaches seem to hit it out of the ballpark with their choices, and how some completely wiff. Obviously, fate and hidden traits play a part, but we chose Elliot. Does this inspire Green to work his butt off and bite the Buckeyes, like a Leveon Bell? I know we shut him down, but he still turned out to be a B1G superstar after being spurned by the Buckeyes.
I hope dearly Green does not choose TSUN. Maybe Hazlett can come in and steal him! We can only hope.

We did not lose this kid to Scum. We stopped recruiting him. He has been out of the picture for months now.
Agree. I think UFM knows what he is doing. But I to think Green is very talented.
You have to hate losing more than you love winning! GO BUCKS!!
He's just bitter urban stopped recruiting him. he sounds cocky if you ask me
Way to degrade a kid for no reason?
I have seen interviews of him calling himself the next Bo or AP. that just sounds cocky if you ask me
I wouldn't say cocky, the word is STUPID. There will never be another athlete like Bo and after the last 17 weeks, it's safe to say AP is a medical marvel that will never be duplicated. All in all, I would prefer that the bucks stick with humbled running backs that can be coached. Too many egos in young kids before playing a down.
TO has something to say about being a medical marvel.
That's what happens when you drag your feet with recruiting and limited schollies!! You lose out!! Don't really care where he goes!! Agree he is talented, but not ready to annoint him the next BO,or Peterson just yet!!Plus with the defense we're gonna have in the next year or 2, it will be all good!!

I have noticed the same thing.
Does anyone know why we stopped recruiting him? Some said Zeke. Green said it was Taivon Jacobs. Seems strange to me.
I have no issues or concerns about Green going to UM. We passed on him for a reason -as I recall it was a combo of him playing recruiting games and us not needing another big back.
If he makes them better, so be it. If he commits to them he better bring his A game when he plays against OSU or he'll get pounded.
So, Derrick Green has not committed to Michigan?
No he has not but they are the favorite to land him
some disagree with that and think he stays down south..
Actually, it's cool with me. He should go where he wants, and not where fans or his prior allegiance says he should. It's a decision that will impact him for the rest if his life, so he should make a decision for him and him alone. It seems a bit shortsighted to say it isn't cool, when he's a kid making a huge decision for himself.
im fine with a kid picking whatever school they want what isnt cool is when they want to go to OSU and we miss or pass on them for whatever reason and they end up being the best players for our rival.
Well, we obviously can't offer a scholarship to everyone who wants to come here, as you've conceded.
And how often have we 1) not offered someone who 2) wanted to come here and then 3) ended up being among Michigan's best players? Desmond Howard and Charles Woodson were never interested in us, so they don't count.
As long as we get the players WE want -- and assuming we don't make too many mistakes in evaluation along the way -- I don't much care what they do in Ann Arbor.

Trey Burke would be an example, but if you're looking for football, it's difficult to say. It isn't always documented that some guys really want a certain offer and don't get one. There's really no way to know whether or not Jake Ryan grew up wanting to play for OSU, and didn't get considered.
That said, I agree with your overall point. Let a kid go wherever he wants, if it's our rival or not. It's a bit self-centered to assume that their choice is out of spite, especially when looking at some of the aspects offered at UM.
I was tunnel-visioned on football when I answered above, but Burke definitely would fall under this heading. No disrespect to Shannon Scott--and we'll appreciate him next season when Burke has likely moved to the next level--but this was a clear miss.
Bottom line is that Urban has to primarily think about who fits our needs best when he's making offers to recruits. Offering a kid out of fear that he might otherwise go up north--you can't run a program that way.

I can't think of any kid that wanted to go to tOSU, didn't get the offer and ended up being a stud for scUM, but this could be due to perspective. I seem to remember a fullback/linebacker that wanted to go up north and ended up being the center of the iconic image of the 2012 season. #Borensupremacy
Well the last highly rated prospect we took from Hermitage HS or whatever has barely seen the field for us(Grant), so who knows how he'll end up.

I personally believe the reason why he has been flirting with tTUN is because of being dropped due to space in this class. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes there...

He's going to M just because OSU stopped recruiting him? Or because its still a great place to play football?
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Can you still put "great" and M*chigan in the same sentence?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Brewster...I used to like to debate with you....not much anymore after your diatribe for TP (not to mention insults on my intelligence bc of an OPINION I have on his post OSU career. I've NEVER once mentioned what he did on the field for OSU in a negative light...it was great, besides Purdue '09 and Wiscy '10. It was the off the field stuff that SO many, including yourself, that don't seem to have a problem with anymore).
How can you call (as seen above) that tTUN is a great place to play football??? Not sure about you...but the 11-2 team of 2011 wasn't as good as many thought....ala this years season with a 8-4 record with the same players. tTUN has prestige and can lure many kids there. IMHO I think Green wants to go there for more than it being "great" as you called it. He's not happy about being dropped and wanted to do the "all eyes on me recruiting" and I'm personally glad to have EzE over him. Have a wonderful day Brew...

It is pretty easy, really. Michigan is a great place to play football. I'm going to do my best here to educate you on the difference between facts and opinions passed off as facts. Try to follow. DISCLAIMER-I am going to use the word "Michigan" a few times and I know the way a lot of fans think, as soon as that word comes up, the logical parts of ones' brain shuts off and all truths about them must be ignored since "OMG I'M AN OSU FAN AND MICHIGAN SUCKS!" but here goes.
I said "Michigan is a great place to play football". That's an opinion and its my opinion because of the following reasons (Which are also known as facts).
Michigan Football has won 903 games-most all time.
Michigan Stadium holds over 100,000 people-something few schools can boast.
Michigan claims 11 titles (The seriousness of some of these can be debated but they've still won a lot)
Michigan has won the division 42 times.
They have produced 78 Consensus All Americans and 3 Heisman winners (I know, Des and Woodson were from Ohio-they still WENT to Michigan).
So...here's what I did. I took those items and looked at them individually, and then together and thought "Boy my opinion of Michigan is that it is a great place to play football" and in my own head thought "Well that Derrick Green fella sure could do a lot worse".
The end result-my opinion based on actual things.
Here's what you did....
"How can you call (as seen above) that tTUN is a great place to play football??? Not sure about you...but the 11-2 team of 2011 wasn't as good as many thought....ala this years season with a 8-4 record with the same players."
You might be unaware of it (Of course I'm explaining it so there is a good chance you aren't) but you are saying that Michigan's 11-2 team wasn't that good because this year's team went 8-4 and had the same players. This of course isn't true as Michigan fielded a lot of new starters and lost a ton of leadership, specifically with Molk and Martin. Now the real argument you and I are having here is whether or not Michigan is a great place to play football. I feel that it is and you feel that it isn't. I used the 900 plus wins, multiple titles, and AA\Heisman winners to back my theory up while you used an 11-2 season and compared that to a separate 8-4 season (19-6 over 2 years) to say that they aren't a great place to play. Really, stellar work there partner.
Also-I'm taking issue with your assumption that Derrick Green is only going to Michigan because Ohio State doesn't want him...I'm going to pass off an opinion here for you but I doubt anyone would call it incorrect. If Derrick Green is good enough to play at Michigan, he's good enough to play elsewhere. For whatever reason, OSU decided maybe they didn't really want him so he maybe decided on Michigan because...ready for this? Its a really good place to play football. I know, I know, the horror of it all! OSU's rival is actually a pretty good program in its own right. Of course its easier for you to just say Michigan sucks and wear tee shirts of that adorable little Calvin fella peeing on the State of Michigan but the fact is, despite their recent bad to mediocre play, The University of Michigan is still a top notch academic and athletic institution.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Brewster, you win the internet. Still, I would make one slight clarification:
That's the thing man. I get put in the awkward spot of defending Michigan. I don't like them in the sense that I'm a fan but a good Michigan team is good for Ohio State. It is also good for the Big Ten which in turn is also good for the Buckeyes.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I might have to give you automatic upvotes from now on, but +2, for now.
Another point, especially for big-eyed recruits, are the renovations that have been completed or are scheduled to take place. Most notably Glick Field House and Shembechler Hall, related to football.
Facts
• The Wolverines have more indoor practice space than any college or professional football team in the world.
• Michigan and Texas A&M are the only programs in the country that have two indoor practice fields.
In other words, they have come out of the 80s and have some of the best facilities in the country. Plus, the upgrades to other athletic facilities certainly don't hurt.

As much as I hate UM, to say it's not a great destination to play football insults tOSU. It might not be as great as OSU, but it's damn good and that is one of the main reasons we consider them to be a rival.
Ohio University is in our backyard and resulted in the tackling of Brutus and we still don't care about them because it's not a great place to play football (and halloween is so fun there). If Michigan isn't a great football school but they've ruined our National title hopes multiple times, what does that make us?
That being said, Brady Hoke is a disgusting slob and I would never want my son to be in any position to have to look up to him.
Green had a lot of big time offers early on, but waited around and watched other top RBs commit and take his spot with a lot of teams. OSU, USC, Alabama, OU, etc. I think he believed he'd have those spots waiting until signing day, but was wrong. That's why he's down to Michigan, Ole Miss, etc. I think in reality, Michigan is his only legit option left so he is kind of forced. It's the risk you take when you play the recruiting game and are not considered can't miss by the coaches.
I can't imagine him looking at the OSU and USC games and not think that that offense has 200 carries with his name on it next year. I expect him to go blue.
4-6 seconds of relentless effort
We can criticize him all day, but look at what he has available. A chance to play early at a program with great recent OL recruiting, with a giant whole in the depth chart at his position, in an offense that is transitioning to be one that advantages him in the largest possible way. Sure, we can say that Carlos Hyde shows that Green may be successful in Columbus, and he very well may have been, but no power runner will get the number of carries in any spread variation that he will in a power-I pro style system.
That's not even mentioning a coaching staff with (albeit with mixed results) experience, solid facilities, and tremendous academics.
2 words: Doctored Tape. I've thought this for over a year now. I can't remember which one, but I was watching one of his highlight videos on YouTube and I swear - parts of it were sped up to make him look faster.
I don't know anything about doctored tapes, etc.; however, I'm inclined to trust that Urbz and company stopped recruiting the kid for good reasons.
Most likely scenario: Urbz and company evaluated Green as a player and did not think that his play warranted a schollie offer.
We could speculate about a dozen other contributing factors (Green possibly being a diva, assurances to E. Elliot that he'd be the only RB recruit, etc.); however, in my ignorance, I'd probably put my money on your explanation (Green is not especially fast/quick).
He ran a 4.35 at his UA game workout. Sped up tape or not, the kid can move.
"It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways." - Buddha
i think he will be successful at mich. however, if the kid thinks hes even in the same atmosphere as bo or ap hes just plain silly.
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Looking back, I think (I hope) that quote was hyperbole.
They can have him, we got a hell of a DL tandem, and probably the best RB tandem in the nation next season. All they got is Fitz and Green may play as a true freshman.
I'm not worried about it.
That's it Gene. So what? They have another back to try to run the ball on us if he goes there. Good luck to the kid.
They have no proven backs except for Fitz, and he's injury proned. So we'll see, they don't have many 1,000 yard RBs these days anymore.
The longer this recruitment drags on the worse scUM's chances become see: Treadwell, Laquan. If scUM has this big lead then why not commit esp sinces hes visited twice. IMO hes looking to play in the south and wants to. Ole Miss and Tenn will make big runs at this kid.
Completely different situations.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Ole Miss is gonna make a nice little recruiting run before NSD... I bet they finish with a top 10 class, or borderline.
Very true. They lead for 3 5 stars (Treadwell, Nkemdiche and Conner) as it is and are in on many other 4 stars.
I really wonder how a program that's been boarderline average for a decade can have this much success recruiting in the heart of the south.
I didn't bother to read what the conversation was about, but the pic gets you an automatic upvote.

its not so much about green as it is players in general that we should get from ohio (ie mike mccray, dymonte thomas) or have offered/pass on (ie green) that become some of their best players. woodson and howard are perfect examples of ohio guys we missed or passed on for whatever reason that went to mich and had excellent careers. granted they might not of come to OSU regardless but it just seems alot of thier best players are guys we shoulda, woulda or coulda had but didnt. I think its important for scUM to get talent to keep the rivlary great just dont like giving them guys that come back to bite us. they got some of the best talent out of ohios 2013 class we never shouldve let get out of the state.
So what do you suggest? We take every Ohio kid?
If theyre some the top talent in the state then yes. How do we not offer mike mccray a legacy til the summer. not to mention, we almost lost decker and dodson 2 of the best olineman in ohio. we should at least offer and show interest if they go elsewhere fine but losing someone simply for not offering makes no sense.
You were probably just making a general statement, but Dymonte was unlikely to go to OSU, but McCray was an OSU lock before being OSU's 3rd/4th choice and an offer coming way late, months after committing to Michigan.
Then you have Conley who would've gone to OSU to begin with but didn't get any early love. Still, once his [I'm assuming] dream offer came, he put that behind him and flipped to OSU.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
It is an emotional process, and these are young guys. When a team shows love early, that love is generally reciprocated automatically, and some loyalty builds. Whether that relationship trumps the long time dreaming of playing for the home-state school, whom they have probably cheered for since they were in their diapers, is an individual phenomenon. We can't take all the Ohio kids, but it really sucks when we spurn somebody who takes his talent and a chip on his shoulder northwards and gets inspired. Anger from perceived disrespect can be a powerful and lasting motivator. Ask Michael Jordan.
Respectfully,
Larryp713
my point exactly cant take all the ohio kids but at least offer the top talent so if we play against them it doesnt add more fuel to the fire.
To be honest, when the 2013 recruiting really took off, Green was my favorite player. Unfortunately I think Urban and co. realized he doesn't fit in with what they want to do quite like what ezekial elliott does. It's just not a great fit because we already have running backs to manage the power game. In the end there were other positions of need and 2 RB's just didn't fit.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
Green to scUM doesn't scare me, it should at least make The Games somewhat fun to watch. I think with Green and Morris Brady Joke will finally be able to run his type of offense which will be something similar to Lloyd Carr, only ineffective versus our suffocating D.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
I want Green to go to scUM. Also want to see him get smashed by our D line.
So apparently Reuben Foster wants to visit Michigan and LaRue has Michigan interest.
Anybody know how serious their interest is?
While I don't really want to go up against either of them in the future, the BIG stealing very good recruits from USC and the SEC only bodes well for the BIG.
