Sucks to lose either one of the, especially O'Connor after only a year, but I know that was speculated over the weekend that an OOS OL wants to transfer and he was seemingly the only logical explanation (there was another, but it didn't seem likely). It also explains the push from the staff to get another OL in this class.
Lack of depth always hurts both positions, but I wish them the best of luck in recovery and/or future endeavors.
Yeah, this was posted over on Quick Bits!! Crowell doesn't really hurt, but thought O'Connor would be a good lineman for us.That one stings a bit.Just added 2 more schollies for 2014!! And we're expected to take 4-5 O-lineman in that class,so good luck to them on their futures!!
I was always a fan of him and thought he was one of the underrated players no one talked about on OL. Sucks he has to leave but I wish him the best wherever he decided to continue his football career. Maybe Colorado an get a good player on their team!

In fairness, the two in this forum were like 19 seconds apart lol. Those mods need to saunter over to that Dontre Wilson thread in the recruiting forum. What a dumpster fire that has become...
Yeah. I wasn't trying to knock anyone. It was just hilarious to me to look at the 'Active in Forum' section and see 4 posts with similar titles all at the same time. I was like "Which one do I choose?"
I commented on this one and then I scrolled down after that posted and was like, "Whoa, what happened?" It's all good...just glad we don't have 3 threads.
And yeah, dumpster fire is a great term for the Dontre Wilson thread. I kind of started that by calling out the guy who did the downvoting of the pic...in retrospect, horrible, just HORRIBLE, decision on my part. We'll leave it at that because there is no reason to discuss that any further, lol.
I hope it is just optimism when people automatically say "oh well, another open scholarship" each time someone very good decommits or transfers. I'd say it's rather naive to say this in the case of O'Connor. That kid was going to be very good for us. Let's call it what it is here: that one hurts. I would agree, however, that the Crowell one doesn't hurt much.
Does not being "medically cleared" mean being put on medical hardship? Which, to my knowledge, is not playing football, staying on scholarship but not counting towards the scholarship limit. If so, is this a one year suspension of him not playing, or is he done playing football?
I m never happy when any of these kids transfer or take a medical redshirt. As much as we are dissappointed that they didnt live up to the expectations that we have placed upon them, I am sure they are much more affected by the same. Its a shame that all of them could not complete their time at tOSU on the team, but unfortunately things did not turn out as they expected. Teh scholarship offer they received, was just the first part of their dream. Its a shame that things did not go out with a fairy tale ending. I hope their futures remain as bright as the day they signed that LOI.
Couldn't have happened at 2 worse positions, but I suppose it frees up some schollies.
vacuuming sucks
losing O'Connor is a blow. Would he have left if UFM wanted him to stay?

Urban pushed hard for him last year, he just wants to be closer to home. Urban definitely would want him to stay
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I don't think it was at all UFM's choice... kid was from Colorado and was homesick. Happens all the time. Sucks, cause he coulda started at G in 2014
Cause I couldn't go for three

Holy heck, a story so big there's 4 threads about it going on at the same exact time!
Seriously though, I wish these guys well.
::wiping sweat from forehead:: No worries now, the other 2 have been deleted...
In all seriousness, at least the MOD's were on top of that.

Tough loss..But hello scholarships!
So what does this mean for our number of scholarships? Can we take two more players in this class now?
Good luck to both of them wherever they wind up.
Mr. Brightside: 2 more schollys!

Good luck to Joey. I've been away from home when I was a kid and being really homesick sucks. Hope Connor makes a full recovery down the road.
