Any staff or insiders hear ANYTHING about how his visit went? Heard different bits about Gibson, Smith and even this new kid to the party, Clark but nothing but crickets on Elder. Not sure if he's cooled on us, we cooled on him....anyone? He's a great prospect.

Last I heard is he's still on campus and leaving sometime today.
Cool thanks! If he's still there that explains the radio silent. I figured he left yesterday with the rest (except surprise visitor Hunt)

I am very curious about what's going on with the WR recruits. We had Gibson, Elder, and Smith on campus, the Timmons visit was cancelled, and all of a sudden are talking to Clark. From the outside, the whole thing is difficult to follow.
Agreed! I bet there was a silent verbal this weekend and waiting until NSD to announce. Elder is a one of those slot/RB type guys. We already have 2 guys like that and I believe he is the least talented of the 3. I think the staff is looking for 2 true WR's.
I agree that I'd rather have Gibson or Smith (or both), but Elder is one heck of a playmaker. Watching his film, I'm not sure I'd say there are TWO more talented guys than him in this class. If so, it's a close race between #2 and #3. We are all hoping Jalin will translate, and I'm confident he can, but, his learning curve will be much greater than for a guy like Elder imo.

I agree, watching Elder's film he is just versatile and explosive. I personally wouldn't consider him a consolation and would be glad to have him. UFM values versatile playmakers and I think Elder fits the mold.
12-OH
Elder's learning curve will be the same as Marshall's. He had 95% of his touches at the RB position. Marshall is a lot more athletic and elusive. I personally think Elder's competition is very weak. I live in TN and have watched his league growing up and it's not that competitive. The public leagues around here are much more competitive. I'd rather have a true WR than another slot guy.
Has any 11W staff heard anything about him or heard if his offer is commitable? I truly believe he hasn't been given the green light yet
Nothing on Elder, nothing on Hunt. Strange.
No Mama, no Papa, no whisky soda.
I really think if a WR silent verballed this weekend, we wouldn't have offered Clark or Kyrin. It looks like we are pretty unsure about which way Shelton will go as of now.
I think we found out that Gibson isn't going to be a Buckeye come NSD. That is the reason for all of the other offers going out IMO.
He must see the easy playing time up for grabs at WV
Meyer visited Elder at his school today. It would seem to indicate that at this point he is still very much a possiblity of making it into this class:
It looks like Auburn wants Corn Elder fairly bad. They are reportedly not only would let him play both football and basketball, like he wants to, but Cam just happened to stop by the Auburn basketball game that Elder was at:
Chillin with my dude Cam though!! - http://instagram.com/p/VIas6Yymfb/
The good news here is that Cam is wearing athletic shorts. Can't stash too much ca$h in those pockets. Unless, of course, that is Cam's man-purse in the background. Then all bets are off.
Money bag! That's not Cam's man purse...it's his dad's!
It makes me ill to say this, but Cam is a physical beast. This pic makes it look like he's doing a meet and greet with middle-school-age fans...
Thats a little mean. His heart and desire pushes him past kids twice his size.
Don't misread what I said - Corn Elder would be very, very high on my draft board, believe me. He's got the goods. My comment was that Cam is the type of physical specimen that really turns your hear, as we used to say about our own Pryor, for example. No slight of Elder intended or implied.
gotcha
Elder is listed by Rivals as 5'11" and 170
Newton is listed by ESPN as 6'5" and 245
Yep, that's what I was saying. Hell, Elder would look small next to me (6'2" and 295), but I still think he's a beast in waiting...
Here is a pic of Corn holding Troy's Heisman:
Caption: "One day my name will be on this"
He looks like he needs to hit the weight room for a year before he sees the field
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
Either that trophy is huge or elder is a little on th small side.
Very thin but he is tough I like his spirit.
Corn is on the smaller side. I actually sat near him on his visit to the Purdue game and thought the same thing about his size. But living here in Nashville, and seeing him play live, he really is a playmaker. I'd love to have him, but if we don't get him he's going to make some team very very happy.
I believe it will be a year before Jacobs sees the field because of size and if we brought in Elder it would be the same thing. It would be even harder to keep weight on Elder because of basketball. BOTH guys need at least 20 pounds before they play D1 football in my opinion. Zeke and Marshall both have the frame to take some hits as freshmen, Elder and Jacobs don't.
I don't think Elder would play basketball if he came here.
That would be a smart move by the staff and him.
247 reporting that Elder will not sign by the football NSD. He is still trying to decide on whether to play bball, football, or both.
