I keep seeing that everyone thinks Cam ends up at safety but he looks really good playng corner against the best Wrs in the country. I could see if he gets to like 220 but hes plenty fast to be a shutdown CB. if he did move to S it'd be incredible with him conley woodard and possibly bell in the secondary would be shutdown all around.

I would disagree. He's had a few nice plays, but was beat by Foster/Gonzalez a few times. Not even close to Hargreaves, who has put on a clinic in the game. He's too slow to play CB at a D1 level. Safety.
i agree hargreaves has definitely ripped it up but burrows has played great as well hes made alot of plays probably the most in the secondary for the white team. he hasnt givien up a play of significance ive seen and has had several PBUs and tackles. deion sanders talked about 2 players being stud DBs and cam was one of them.
Dont get me wrong he'll probably move and be awesome at S but he could definitely play CB if needed. Just very impressed with what ive seen from him against this talent. really all of our commits have stood out.
Meyer's Defense requires BIG BAD safeties who can come up and blow up running plays as well as cover receivers as conrers do.
I wouldn't say he looks amazing but I think he has done what he set out to do in this game, and that's prove he can play corner at the next level.
ok maybe not amazing like hargeaves but really good. just exciting seeing how good these guys are we got coming in. cant wait to see eli and zeke tomorrow.
OK, beating a dead horse here, but why was this downvoted? Honest opinion with no arrogance or anyting like that. And it was positive aboutg the Buckeyes. Upvote to counter-balance....
2002OSUBUCK is disliked by one person, possibly because of previous comments, so you see the downvotes. It's pointless to say anything about it, because then you might get the same thing. There's enough people who upvote to make things even or better that it really doesn't cause any harm. Don't lose any sleep . . .

Future safety IMO
I agree...if we don't get Bell. Or unless they switch Bell to CB...if not...I can't see them moving Burrows there to get lost in the shuffle.

Reminds me of Malcolm Jenkins. Can be pretty good at corner, but special at safety.
He has looked alright but this game is not of much importance, sure i wanna see future bucks look great but im also okay with them getting polished by all our coaches and teaching them how to play the Ohio State way but all in all im very excited about this years class.
Michigan Sucks!
Agree. He looked solid but it a little to big to line up against D1 WRs. He would be a dominating force against the run but is destined for Safety IMO.
Conley/Apple/Burrows/Bell seems like a pretty solid starting defensive backfield to me.
I would not forget about Jayme Thompson. His team did win the state championship over Burrows' team if I remember corretly. We all know how some of these underrated guys can turn out to be beast (see Brad Roby)
F--- Michigan!
Very true. It also sounds like Lee came on strong at the end of this season. I can admittedly get starstruck with how these lineups look on paper, but you are dead on. At any rate, he attacked the defensive backfield aggressively in this class, and it sounds like the defense in general is just going to get stronger in 2014.
keep Bogard, Murray, Reeves and our boy Powell in the mix
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
Wait till you see Eli Apple tomorrow. When I saw his stuff from the Opening...I was amazed at how well he stuck to the WRs (caused a lot of batted passes and missed passes bc of it). It should be something to see all these defensive guys on the field together (all the guys from 2012 and 2013 class as well as current players...I can't wait to see them this year).

we are going to have PLENTY of options at db in the coming years
Burrows to safety works great because Bell was playing lots of CB during the UA game.
Burrows = the next Donte Whitner
The depth in the secondary for years to come is going to pressure 3 or 4 guys to become really special. That's going to give plenty of time for our rediculous d-line to really destroy some QB's and let our linebackers creep up in the box for run support. If your on our schedule, good luck.
I'll be the weird one that says that coverage sacks are my favorite occurrences in football
they're not weird they are beautiful ways of completely pissing off the opposing teams OL coach with how inept his line is that they can't block only 3 or 4 guys with everyone else dropping to coverage, i love em.
All the games of the season are just practices for that glorious saturday in November when we get to jack Shoelace's invisible cereal bowl and drink our fill of delicious skunkweasel tears ...Michigan Still Sucks!!
That's not weird at all...a Dlineman's best friend is a good secondary. Not to mention...good LBs too;-)

Someone earlier said that Burrows looked like he could add weight to become a LB. He seems like a perfect safety/star type player. 6'0'' or 6'1'' with about the size of moeller but better hips and a little faster.
Alex or anyone, Burrows right now has been told he's going to start his time at OSU at DB? Or just in the Secondary? Do we think he's a Star candidate?
It almost sounds to me that it would be a sad day in Buckeye town if Cam Burrows has to move to safety? Does anyone think that this possible move could be a great thing? With the guys we have coming in maybe that would be a good fit for him. With the size and skill set maybe Cam makes a ball hawking safety kinda like a guy we all know Ed Reed? I just seem to get a sense that alot think this possible move is a bad thing.
I think people believe being an elite DB is more important than being an elite safety. Elite DBs are 1 v 1 vs the best WRs on an island, leaving safeties and LBers to make plays on the TEs and in the run game.
The NFL draft shows that fact as well, as safeties are rarely taken in the top 10 (Berry is a recent exception so there are those) while a DB or 2 is often taken early
Personally, I don't think it's a bad thing to start guys with the frame of a S at DB, see if they can play it like a Patrick Peterson type, and if not, shift them inside as a S, where they can still play effective pass coverage
I think Jayme is the odd man out if Bell comes. Conley and Eli CB, Bell and Burrows at safety. I think Bell and Burrows could end up being the best safety duo in the country eventually.
I'll say it again, and you may know the positions better than me, if Bell comes, can Burrows or Thompson bulk up a little into a Star type role where all 5 could be on the field together, with Mitchell and Johnson (just playing with this 2013 class). Thompson is 6'2'' so could he add 30 pounds and move into the 3rd "LB/S" spot?
There are always injury issues. To be able to back up spots with guys that could be starters is an amazing situation to be in. And it is how a championship team is formed. Backups playing at near or equal to the level of the starters makes me pee down my leg just a little....
You have to remember though that OSU's defense will more often than not be I in the nickel package with that extra DB. I'd say a five-some of Apple, Burrows, Conley, Bell and Thompson could be pretty special. That's a lot of interchangeable parts who can all cover and hityou in the mouth, too.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
They mentioned Dion Sanders had a lot of good things to say about watching him practice as a corner...I think he can still be a dominate corner like Malcolm Jenkins was even without the top-end speed.
D. Anthony
A lot of people sleeping on thompson. I think thompson is as good as any if our dbs we currentky have. Other guys get a lot of pub but watch that st title game n u can't tell me he's not just as good as burrows granted they're much different prospects. I think thompson has more range but burrows more physical but burrows also has range n thompson can hit can't wait till coombs n withers get these guys. Top secondary in country.

I don't see can at corner either definitely safety saw him at a few camps and to me I didn't see the hip movement to just turn and run with some good wr. I also don't see Conley playing corner I think Wr is more like it. I don't think UM was going to let him play wr which is why I think he decommitted.
Conley decommited bec he's an ohio boy n always wanted to be a buckeye at least that was his qoute. He'll play where ever urban needs him. Hes a stud on both sides.

Its funny how a year can make us forget. Armani Reeves and Devan Bogard were ranked higher last year than this year's recruits at the same positions. Needless to say, we should have quite a bit of depth in the secondary in the coming years.
That's not true. Reeves' composite ranking was .95 to Burrows' .979 and Woodard's .982.
Bogard was a .92 which is higher than Jayme Thompson's .91, but Vonn Bell, if added is a a .976.
That said, I agree that the depth in the secondary should be remarkable
You are right I.8. I was basing my comment solely on the 247 ranking. That ranking had
Cam - 96
Eli - 95
as compared to:
Reeves - 96
Bogard - 95
So even with that assessment, they are evenly ranked.
Well if we land Jabrill Peppers in next years recruiting class, hopefully he'll be switched to S.
i think wherever urban and the staff decide to put them is exactly where they need to be.. I love bein a BUCKEYE.. (oh yeah).. thanks ncaa, we love our coach
He's better than most of the players lately we have had at corner coming out of high school. Give the coaches a chance to figure out his exact spot.. He's solid and a very good tackler from what I saw. We now have a lot of depth back in the secondary, and I think he can be a solid corner/slash nickel back. Just my $.02..
Go Bucks!
