B1G and bowl bans

If OSU and Penn State weren't banned I think the B1G could have gone 6-3 or better in bowls this year. Any thoughts?

I agree. This bowl ban screwed us this year. We would of had much better teams playing agianst UGA, South Carolina, and Oklahoma State. Also, we missed out on a date to Miami for the National Championship. It's ok though because we have the 2013 football season to look forward to. buckeye nation. Go Bucks! Screw Scum!

Agreed, bowl match-ups were not in our favor this year with top 2 Big teams ineligible!! Plus we have Rutgers and Maryland coming into Big,so have to think we would have done better!! Believe Rutgers and Maryland will be better, sooner than later!! If Nebraska and that team up north can shore up those defenses,Big would be  A LOT better than showings today!!

for the losses that those two had though they sure did show up to play. I think the conference got alot of respect today for the way they played. Doesnt hurt having a win by NW and MSU's win as well. And Minn. came to play. the only team to roll over was Purdont. I think the conference showed people this year that they were better than people were suggesting even in defeat. Would have loved to see the Buckeyes go to Miami and roll some Irish tail but oh well. Would have been nice to see BOB take Penn. st. somewhere and taste success in a bowl game.

I don't think we would have done any better other than the purdue fiasco. I'm sorry but the conference won't and should Not get respect for going 2-5. We will get respect when we win the NC and go 5-2 with a 3-1 record against the sec.

Are we really at the point where the big ten is looking for moral victories?

I tried not to care about the big 10 games but a lifetime of caring still keeps me glued to the games.

The bucks and Michigan need to string together consecutive bcs level wins and the rest of the conference has to be over 500 before we get respect and a NC before the big 10 is back.

I'm not saying we should've gotten respect, and I'm not looking for moral victories...I'm just asking if it would've made a difference.

Well, Ohio State would have been in the Natty, so it would only have moved the B1G up one spot. Also, we'd be eligible to fill all bowls, so we'd add another bid (The Little Caesar's). The final bowl lineup then would have been:

National Championship: Ohio State vs. Notre Dame
Rose Bowl: Nebraska vs. Stanford
Capital One Bowl: Penn State vs. Georgia
Outback Bowl: Michigan vs. South Carolina
Gator Bowl:  Northwestern vs. Mississippi State
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Wisconsin vs. Oklahoma State
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl: Michigan State vs. TCU
Meineke Car Care Bowl: Minnesota vs. Texas Tech
Little Caesar's Bowl: Purdue vs. Central Michigan

I think all the same teams take an L hold Purdue and maybe the bucks. Penn State loses as well.

I was just commenting that a conference which was dominant when I was a kid is now looking for moral victories.

I still think they'd have a losing record.  I don't know if the Rose would have taken Nebraska, but even if they had, I'd have picked them to lose.  The B1G might have gotten one or two more wins.
