Al Pacino will play PSU football coach Joe Paterno in Brian De Palma film titled: Happy Valley. Pacino and De Palmo teamed up back in the day for Scarface.
I'm sure Pacino playing Paterno will look different than we he played Coach Tony D'Amato in Any Given Sunday.
Is it just me, or does this Pacino guy seem to always play the role of a sleazy dirtball?

I guess they can recycle the famous “Say Hello to my Little Friend” line for this movie.
SO WRONG (but I upvoted anyway)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
“Not everybody’s the perfect person in the world, I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever. I think that people need a second chance, and I’ve always looked up to Mike Vick, and I always

What was so sleazy dirtball about Scarface?
maybe he's pissed about getting his coke and doughnut powder mixed together?
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
you think they could get David Caruso to play Mike McQueary?

My friend, it's a very sad day...<put on sunglasses>... in Happy Valley.
YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
Bet Happy Valley isn't too happy about this. Depending on how this is done it could get really ugly for all involved if the Sandusky role is highlighted. Films like this can gloss over the nasty things or embellish them. Interesting to see which way it goes.
It says the project is based on Posnanski's book, so I'll save you the suspense: it will acknowledge the nasty things about as much as a Paterno Family PR statement.
pacino is one of my favorite actors. need to find a role for deniro in this film. and caruso to play mike mcqueary would be awesome.
Al's a true method actor and is probably practicing pooping his pants while running for the infamous running off the Ohio State sideline scene in the middle of the game.

I'm happy to see you've crossed the 1000 helmet sticker threshold (again), this time in a slightly less celebrated fashion. Congrats!
Thanks! Hadn't noticed :)

This just in, carrot top to play the role of Joe Sandusky!
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
More like McQueary with the red hair and all.
I stand corrected, carrot top as McQueary, and Andy Dick as Joe Sandusky.

Who is this "Joe" Sandusky you speak of?
not surprising at all, pacino is overrated imo, second fiddle to De Niro
Can't wait for Steamin' Willie Beamon to show up
Taquitos.
Wonder if St. Penn will change their colors from White and Blue to Black and Blue.
Will Franco Harris be making an apperance?
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Only Gary Busey can play Franco Harris.
Urban Warfare
Any Given Sunday is the second best football movie ever. It ranks just behind the Replacements. In my humble opinion.
Pacino playing Paterno will be interesting. Sounds like a "Netflixer" to me.
I love pretty much all football movies --- Any Given Sunday, The Replacements, Varsity Blues, The Blindside, The Program, The Express, North Dallas Forty, Everybody's All-American, The Waterboy, Wildcats, Remember The Titans, Rudy, Little Giants, Necessary Roughness, Brian's Song, We Are Marshall, Friday Night Lights, The Junction Boys, Lucas, Jerry McGuire.....but my favorite two of all-time are definitely still All The Right Moves and (the original) The Longest Yard
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
No love for Air Bud: Golden Receiver?
Oh snap! Bud could ball...I forgot

Invincible?
DePalma (DePalma?) and Pacino just do not seem like good fits for this kind of a story - where's the violence? Where's the outlandish, outsized, charismatic lead character? JoPa? Are you sheiting me? This thing will be going straight to PSU alums DVD collections.
Worst movie of all time, before its even made!
Paterno was the head coach @ PSU for 45 years. How long is this movie gonna be?
You can basically skip to 1998 for all the interesting bits. Pre-1998 is all fluff and foundational background to the Paterno/Penn Sate story
Not to mention how are you gonna make Pacino look 40+ years younger? Ain't gonna happen!
hahaaaaa
It's at least a 3 parter, Tennbuckeye
Class of 2010.
Regardless of the movie's length/content, I think we can all agree very bullishly and close-mindedly that Penn State is the greatest institution of learning in the country and has the best football team in the B1G. They just get a bad rap and bad refs.

Happy Valley:

PSU fans' Joe Pa support progression:
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
My only question is if Pacino dies in the middle of this movie or at the end? Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Jerry Sandusky.
Is that Pacino in You Don't Know Jack?
Yep, that's Pacino as Jack Kevorkian in HBO's You Don't Know Jack.
wow, nice founds
Always trying to keep up with DiNero
DiNero had Meet The Fockers...so Pacino has this...just hope they use a different name.
They should call it Bare Minimum. It could be a double title. Jerry's preferences & also a description of what Joe Pa did in reaction to learning about kids getting raped.
