Kaepernick accounted for 444 yards and 4 TDs last night. Now I know the Packers D isn't the 85 Bears, but to put up numbers like that in a playoff game is impressive. Urban mentioned this week he planned on stealing some pages from the 49ers playbook. I think our offense can be very similar to what they run in San Fran. Even Hyde somewhat reminds me of Gore. Hope Braxton watched that game last night. Is it September yet?

Can't wait for next season! At least the spring game is only 3 months away.
Does anyone know how to obtain spring game tix? When do they go on sale? Is there anything different since it is at Cincy? I would really appreciate any info you guys have...
Edit... Sorry for the off topic post. I read razrback's post and it raised my aforementioned questions. Go Buckeyes!
Tom Crean listens to Nickelback...
So who is going to be Ohio State's Crabtree, and Davis? Devin, and Marcus?

Good question. Davis is a beast so it'll be hard to duplicate his production. Call me crazy but I think our receiving core can be a strength of this team next year.

You're crazy!!
But yeah, with the talent Ohio State has at WR, it should be a strength.
Maybe Michael Thomas or Evan Spencer will step up and fill that role if Devin doesn't.

As a lifelong 49ers fan, last night was incredible to watch. The thing most commentators mention about their offense is the diversity of their formations. They run a lot of different plays as well, but what really gives them an edge is all the different looks they throw at the defense pre-snap using formations, shifts, and motions. I'd love to see the Buckeyes do that and hope they can match the productivity.
It would be cool, but there seems to be a mutual exclusivity between hurry up and multiple formations. Harbaugh's Stanford and 49ers teams are incredibly slow and deliberate between plays. I would envision the mature version of our spread to be faster between plays
You make a good point, and you're right about the slow and deliberate pace. I was thinking of it for us more as an incorporation of some of the elements in certain situations, not as a wholesale change. Just using it for the times in the game when we aren't hurrying up, for example.
I would like that too. Frankly though, our coaches are way behind Harbaugh's offense (and David Shaw's Stanford team is even better) at commanding the substitutions.
We do very little substitution, and when we do, it does not run like a swiss clock.
Kaepernick is a beast. He's what Pryor should've been in college and hopefully can become in the NFL
Lol what? Pryor won two BCS bowls and was the MVP of both games. Kaepernick is a damn good QB, but to say he is what Pryor should have been in college is crazy-talk.
Yea Pryor was awesome in college. He definitely needs a chance at Oakland
Just imagine what he couldve done in an offense more fit to his play style though. Think that's what poster was going for (not sure though). Pryor could have easily won a Heisman playing in a spread style offense his Junior year. The fact the read option was almost never run with him at the quarterback is a crime.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Pryor was a beast in college
BCS to 6-7
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
I could not be more thrilled with Urban, that being said, I am very pleased we do not have to go against Harbaugh. Anyone else?
That would've been epic and a true ten year war.
ESP with UFM vs Harbaugh, still, after watching him grow stanford into a power that beat carroll and USC, he worried me.
^That's for sure..my mich buddy keeps saying theres a new ten year war with hoke I just laugh hes not even in the same league as urban but harbaughs another story.
yea im glad its hoke and not harbaugh... he doesnt let his ego get the best of him and is truly about making his team better... the defense is what would worry me the most those boys in san fran dominate the line of scrimmage
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
true but im not sure harbaugh could procure the same level of beast at michigan that he has with the 49ers (obviously one is NFL the other isnt, speaking relatively) he has carlos rogers, bowman, p willy alden smith and more and you cant forget about that stud donte whitner who has to be one of the 5 most underrated players in the league
I hope we run some diamond formations with Hyde, Marshall, and Zeke in the backfield. Power, speed, and elusiveness. Our offense can be sick this coming year if Braxton improves on his passing game.
Harbaugh wants his offense to be like ours, not the other way around. Urban is the offensive genius here.
Slow down buddy. What Greg Roman and the 49ers are doing is based off the pistol offense Kaepernick ran at Nevada, created by Chris Ault. Urban and Herman both openly admit to adapting it in different ways.
It's not just about the Pistol formation, it's about daring to run the quarterback from spread formations (which includes the Pistol). Urban's been doing it since 2002.
That is true, but Urban adapted his offense from other coaches at Northwestern and Rich Rod at WV. But the point was that just a few days ago Urban mentioned on an interview that he had been watching some NFL film thanks to the bowl ban and was impressed at how the spread has finally been adapted and that he saw some things the 49ers were doing that we don't do, but he plans to add for next season.
That's right...I nearly stated in my previous post that while he's been doing it since '02 he morphed concepts from many other coaches. I haven't seen the interview in which Urban says that. Now very curious myself.

Here is his interview with Dan Patrick where he talks about it.
