Why are we not talking about TAVION JACOBS? Has anybody else watched his highlight tape and been completly blown away? He's a touchdown everytime he touches the ball. And let's face it these are not some white scrubs from Northwest Ohio that he is facing. I know he might not be big enough to come in and contribute as a freshmen but it doesnt matter how big you are if nobody can catch you.
Also, just wanted to throw this out there. Alex is such a head. Living the life following Ohio State football as a living and getting the inside scoop with all of these recruits. Keep doing what your doin!!
Completely agree with you on Tavion! He has been down played a lot in this class and could be that sneaky game changer no one talks about early with the focus being on Ezekiel Elliot & Jalin Marshall. In a way he reminds me a lot of Desean Jackson with how slick he is. It will be very intersting to see how Urban uses him and Marshall on the field at the same time. And to be able to throw Gibson & Quick into the conversation, the future is scary! Good thread.

I don't disagree with you, but I think what he's sayng is that while farm boys are big and grew up eating they have the stereotype of being typically slower. If they are typically slower, then its hard to catch someone like that.
My point was that that was a stereotype. And I realize someone is going to downvote me for this but that's no different than saying that crap about blacks being able to jump higher than whites. I've seen white boys that could jump just as high as black boys and blacks that couldn't jump at all. I've seen white boys that were just as fast as the black boys on the basketball court. I've heard stupid comments about how you "spot" a team 10 points for having a black player! None of which is right! I was 6'4" and had coach's that assumed I was a center when I played small forward and could score just as good as most kids I played with and I'm white. I wasn't the fastest but I was quick and had a good first step. I can teach a kid how to get from half court to under the basket in only 3 steps and he doesn't have to be fast! Or to go from the 3 point line to under the basket in only 1 dribble. It doesn't depend on size or speed but rather footwork that any race of kid can do! Playing the race card for any race is just plain stupid to me. People should be judged on their hearts and not the color of their skin or where they live.
Excited about all of the 2013 class. Could've done without the racism.

Hahaha! I totally had culture shock when I moved to Ohio. Saw a NW OH high school game: Wapak vs. St. Mary's or something. The away team comes out and I'm like "they're all white! they're going to get smoked!" And then the home team comes out and they are all white too! It was hilarious.
I grew up in maryland and it was 60/40 or so when it came to race. But you can't help where you grew up and where you play. I figure there is plenty of talent from any kind of race/color. A dude can be green or purple; as long as he can play and beat M*ch*g*n he can be a buckeye!

Northwest Ohio like Toledo Whitmer who played in the state championship? Jacobs could be a beast, but who is he playing against? I mean his highlight tape is good but he is not playing against the best comp. in the country. Some of his film looks like he is playing against cans. I am excited to see what he does as a Buck though.

Glad you pointed this out (MDRIZZY1) about his skills...just watch his JR and SR year highlights. Every play's a TD or close to it...and both films are nearly 10 minutes in length. Kid could be...dare I say it...Ted Ginn like. Love his speed and athleticism as well as his overall love for OSU. Could be a dominate kid at KR/PR that we haven't seen in some time. So could Armami Reeves...OSU loaded with talent and will be for the preservable future;-)
I also HATE hearing how Jacobs is too small...this point of yours echos what I've been saying since viewing his JR. year highlights. Couldn't have said it better myself...

No offense man but seriously, did you ever see Ted Ginn up close without pads on? The guy was alot more muscular. I'm not putting Jacobs down or saying that he can't get that way but Ginn was that way from day 1. My ex-wife and I took our daughter to meet the Ohio State cheerleaders and their coach in the practice facility by St. John arena because she wanted to be a cheerleader and I knew the coach at the time and Ginn was in there running on the track they have. I'm not kidding you, the guy looked like a thoroughbred race horse! I've seen some athletes in my time and the only one I've ever seen who compared body wise was Jimmy Jackson. Ginn was practicing running and it was really something to see. It was like watching a hot knife run through butter. His very muscles in his legs would twitch like a race horse! I have never seen a kid that could run like him! Now granted, I've never seen someone like Butch Jones or whoever else but Ginn was special. There will not be many like him to come our way!
I agree completely there are really good athletes and then there are freaks. And Ted Ginn was a freak. Ill stand strong and say that there isn't a football player out there who when they hit there top speed on the field is faster than Ted.

CLOGAN, your right its a cake walk making it to the D1 state championship in Ohio. This kids tape is crazy. I am just intrested to find out what kind of teams he is playing against. His tape is just 10 minutes of him just killin it. I hope he brings it to the Bucks, because if he can come close to doing this for the Bucks its gonna be crazy. In Urb we trust.
In High School White and Black has nothing to do with how good the team is. Bottom line its all about the coaching at the H.S. level. I can tell you a team that has 4 D1 prospects 2 even likely to be a Buckeye. Yet this team went 1-9 and lost to teams that went 1-9 and 2-8. Go figure? Its all about coaching.

Can't deny that this kid is a good athlete, but in the same breath, it is obvious that his competition is not of a high caliber. That being said, he seems to have the tools necessary to be something special. It may just take him some time (maybe a little extra time) to get acclimated to the college game (as it does with 99 out of 100 who make the transition).

Have you ever seen Central State or Kentucky State play football? I have seen a number of these games and in most cases the Half Time show is by far the Most Entertaining part of the game.
The way I see it, Taivon was given an OFFER for a reason. The staff liked what they saw out of him. I haven't forgotten about him, and I think he'll bring some of the speed and elusiveness that Coach Meyer wants to see from the WRs.
Like Jacobs a lot...don't think he'll play much if at all as a frosh, as he needs to put on weight, but he is a very talented prospect

If you're a scrub, speak for yourself. I do find it amusing, though, that if you replaced "white" with a different color, everyone would be all up in arms about it. But eh, you're probably right, I can't think of any good football players who are white...
I can think of a lot of white players that are "scrappy", though:
I am just glad he said northwest white scrubs because i played in the southeastern part of Ohio and that is where white boys are not scrubs...nope we have blazing 4.5 speed and 40 inch verticles and that makes us not scrubs. Tavon would have been hurt playing in the southeastern part of Ohio..... :)
