With our ridiculously easy schedule, I fear that no matter how good we feel we are, if there are 2-3 other undefeated or 1 loss teams with tough schedules, we will be left out in the cold. So how do we get to an NC with our schedule? Absolutely blowing out every team? Stop playing "at the level" of our opponents? What are some scenarios that you all see that could get us there?

if tosu goes undefeated again and runs off 25 straight they will get a shot
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
I disagree... If there are multiple undefeated teams at the end of the year, we could be left out. AP voters don't like Urban Meyer or OSU. We will have to blow every team out.
Considering we're already number 3 in the AP with multiple voters claiming they don't feel comfortable placing a bowl banned team near the top (and therefore placing us around 10) I don't think we will have any problem being a top 2 team if we go undefeated. OSU's media pull is unreal, if OSU has run off 25 in a row it will be damn near impossible to keep them out
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
The AP has nothing to do with it anyway - only the Coaches' Poll and the Harris Poll count toward the BCS formula.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
true but the AP gives you a pretty accurate idea of where teams are going to be/are ranked.
No guarantee theyll be multiple unbeaten teams next season. There were only 2 this year and 1 couldnt play for all the marbles. Bama wins there wont be an unbeaten national champ now. Osu very well may be the only unbeaten at that time. Were not we dont deserve to go with that schedule

Go 13-0. If they do that, they're in, hands down. As far as concerns for other undefeated teams...OSU will probably be around #5 to start the year (Athlon's very early prediction has them at # 2 http://gamedayr.com/gamedayr/2013-college-football-preseason-rankings-athlon/). If an SEC and a school from another conference (Oregon) are both ranked ahead and both went undefeated, OSU wouldn't make it. The top 7 teams will probably include Bama, OSU, Oregon, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and TAMU. The SEC teams will take care of themselves and won't produce more than one undefeated. Oregon and one of any SEC school that starts ahead of OSU would have to go undefeated. Possible, and it will depend on where OSU starts in the polls relative to two other major conference schools that would both have to run the table.
Of course, I don't think OSU will go undefeated. There schedule makes it a big possibility, it's just so hard to do it once, let alone, two years straight.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

We would beat out Oregon in the polls. The OSU pull is too strong. And I doubt they'd have enough in the way of computer help to jump us.
You couldn't be more right. It will be absolutely crazy though for us to have 2 undefeated seasons in a row.
"Winter is coming" - Urban Meyer
I thought this thread would be more about what OSU must do to go undefeated, but if the question is what does OSU need to do to play in the NCG AFTER finishing an undefeated season, the answer is simple, nothing. OSU + Meyer + undefeated = championship game.
OSU + Meyer + undefeated - bowl ban = championship game.

Just go undefeated. The allure of putting a team with a 25 game win streak in the 'Ship would be too great to deny.
It should be as simple as running the table for the Buckeyes next year. I know going undefeated is a very tough task despite the somewhat easy schedule but with their more than likely top 5 preseason ranking they will be hanging at the top of the polls all year long. There are other variables in tOSU's favor because they would be sitting there at 13-0 with a 25 game win streak, they have one of the top coaches in football with Meyer who instantly turned a bad year and a season of sanctions into two undefeated seasons in a row, Braxton Miller should be in the Heisman conversation all year long, and leaving an undefeated The Ohio State University team out of the BCS National Championship just doesn't seem possible!!
win baby win
vacuuming sucks
Go undefeated, and most importantly, look good doing it. No close games with Indiana, etc. The teams we are expected to dominate and blow out, we need to dominate and blow out.
First, they would have to go 13-0 hopefully playing a highly ranked team in the B1G Championship Game. It would help if some of the teams on our schedule end up being better than expected. It wouldn't hurt if we blow out our opponents and avoid any close calls against teams like Purdue or Indiana. Lastly, it will obviously help if there are only one or two undefeated teams at the end of the season.
OSU is going to start out ranked pretty high next season so that should avoid the issue with having to worry about looking to teams ahead of them for help. That coupled with an undefeated season will land them a spot in the big one, no questions asked.
I'd like to see someone from the Legends were to rip their schedule a new one en route to an OSU beat down, that'd be cool too.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Gonna have to blow everyone out with the schedule we have next year.Any down to the wire games like this year, will kill us.Nobody is giving us any love and it will be worse next year with strength of schedule. Can't give them a reason to not look at us.Next year just going undefeated, won't be enough!!
SCOTTC.
DROP FLORIDA A&M...
+1
Sure wish we could find an FBS replacement for them. There are plenty of FBS squads...we should never need to schedule an FCS opponent.
Well I dont know about you, but I am honestly pretty excited for Florida A&M. Here is why..

The we can do is win'em all,but the national media has already started their campaign to keep us out.I'm afraid it's Rose Bowl for Bucks. The coaches sure are not gonna help, look at the way they stuck it to us this year.so you got the media and the coaches against us, only the computer likes TOSU and that won't be enough.GO BUCKS!
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
I don't agree with this sentiment. I'm pretty sure the AP Poll had us higher than most computers for much of the season, since the computers accurately assessed our weak schedule.
If anything, the human element will pretty much ensure us a NC spot if we go undefeated, because voters will look at Urban's body of work at 25-0 and his history of teams and will make sure that he doesn't get snubbed. All we have to do is go undefeated and it would take a crazy year with multiple dominant unbeatens for us to get snubbed.
That being said, I'm not expecting to go undefeated next year, just because it is so hard to do so, even with a rather weak schedule. I think we will stumble somewhere and lose to a team we shouldn't. Hopefully I'm wrong.
How about blowing ppl out? Style points! Show off some lateral passing to compliment the power run game. Keep the defense healthy , especially Shazier. Show a DL that gets after the QB ala ND this year. I feel like We need to be like Oregon this year, but dont choke. The bigger you crush people, the more doubt it would cause to put a one loss team ahead.
Go 0-13 and you'll be a lock to get in..LOCK!!

Things for us as fans to hope for:
Class of 2010.
I do think if there are 2-3 other unbeatens next year, OSU will need to have "destroyed" the non-conference foes not named Cal. The Cal game will be much more interesting than many give it credit for - a new coach with a team that will be excited for their first test is never a formula for a surefire blowout victory. Just win that one.
The other thing that would be very helpful would be for Nebraska or Sparty to have an 11-1/10-2 type of season, and play opposite Ohio State in the B1G championship game. That, along with solid years from Northwestern, Wisky, and TSUN, will be extremely helpful with the computers.
I think OSU would be fine with the pollsters when compared to other undefeated teams. They will start high, and if they play enough tough conference opponents, they should stay there. People respect what Urban Meyer has done everywhere he's been, and having a 25-0 record to start a career at a school is enough to get voted #1 or 2 in the Coaches' and Harris Polls. The only problematic area is the computer rankings should OSU's schedule lack in comparison to the other MNCG candidates.
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"
It would be nice if we could drop Florida A&M and pick up a better opponent.
We will be in the National title game because we will be ranked so high to begin with, the teams that get left out are the ones that start off really low. I personally think we might get upset in one game and will have to settle for the rose bowl but I am hoping for the best.
Another udnefeated season and I dont care how many undefeateds you have you will see an undefeated OSU team in the NC. So much appeal in what we could accomplish coming off a bowl ban that we would be smack dab in the middle of a NC game with an undefeated season.
