he had some kind words for Butch Jones and said something along the lines of him being a great coach and turning that program around but i wouldn't look into that too much. This could go to NSD but I believe he's a favorable lean right now

There was an interview with Vonn after last week's game (you likely posted it haha) where he mentioned setting up "visits" as opposed to the "taking one official visit to the school he's committing to" line that we'd been hearing previously. He just said it off-hand, so I don't know that he'd changed his mind necessarily, but I do think there's a possibility there that he might have decided against only doing the single visit. Especially if the OP is correct on that and "other teams are still in it."
But, as you said, no official word yet so it's hard to make heads or tails really.
I heard Meyer met with Vonn Bell after the game in the locker room, then this report of an OV surfaced. I'm trying to do some research here.
Heard the same on other sites as well. Looking good for the good guys.

I like the fact that Bell has set an OV to OSU... The only downfall would be is if he takes an OV to Bama in January. They could tout 3 national titles in 4 years. Hopefully Bell's relationship with Urban overrides Bama's titles.

I'm reading around sites here, and most of them are coinciding with Lance Thompson not being there (his recruiter from Bama) and people who say Tennessee have a play for Bell, no coaches were spotted. So everything seems to be pointing in the right direction from what we have been seeing and hearing.

The same reason the other pic is still up, it's Urban Meyer, it's relevant and it involves recruiting. Don't hurt yourself thinking about it too much it's not worth it. Just a picture, nothing more, people make jokes, so what it's called having a sense of humor.

Actually, I think that makes it all the funnier. If you can't make fun of your head coach once in a blue moon, don't you think that you are taking it a little too seriously? It is not like Urban Meyer is some sort of saint, despite his namesake. To be a head coach at the level that Meyer is, you have to be at least halfway insane. You have to make questionable moral choices every single day. You have to put football ahead of everything in a person's life that actually matters. If we can't poke some fun at the dude, we are being seriously way too sensitive to a guy that I will guarantee that if you really saw what his life is like, you would not envy him or probably even like him.

Well here's an update for you
Here is my train of thought on the whole situation.
The Alabama DB coach Jeremy Pruitt just accepted the Florida State DC job, and Nick Saban just accepted a DB commit Johnathon Cook, that should play Bell's position if he was to go to Bama. He must know that Bell is going elsewhere, otherwise Saban wouldn't have accepted Cook's commitment. Also no Bama coaches were spotted at Vonn Bell's game. All of this points to Bell being a Buckeye.
I could be looking into it too much, but this is what Bama is giving me to work with here. I'm thinking this OV could actually be true.

I heard that Saban and the coach in charge of Bell's recruitment were at the game, but nothing definitive.
However, Pruitt wasn't the coach scouting Bell, and Cook doesn't play the same position in the secondary, so I would think Bama is still in play. If Bell has already made his intention to play at OSU clear, it likely has little do with the goings on at Alabama.
Lance Thompson is his recruiter, but he doesn't coach DBs.
I haven't heard anywhere that Saban or anybody was there. Unless they were incognito.
Why would Bama offer and accept a 3* DB recruit on the same day, shortly before Bell's state game anyway??

Great info on new Bama recruit (and I wonder if Tide fans are freaking about taking a 3-star?) that has me feeling good about Bell. Whomever he chooses, I like the way that he's handled the process. Very mature.

The play-by-play announcers in the link that Derek gave last night (GPB I believe was the station?) said that coaches from Alabama and Georgia (among others) were at the game. They didn't clarify which coaches specifically, though. It's possible they were wrong, but they spoke as if they'd seen them themselves.
Only a select few said Saban and Kirby Smart were there, but there's no proof of it. Incognito like I said lol

Neither Thompson nor Saban were at the game if they were trust me we would have heard about it esp with the Meyer/Saban rivalry. Whats even more interesting if like Alex says its between Tenn and tOSU then why were no Tenn coaches at the game you would think with a new staff theyd at least try. I agree with Gene Bama has 4 db commits IIRC and not all of them will be playing CB. Also the pic with the coaches and Nicki i believe is after the game in which Vonn was tearing up and didnt want to leave the field so i guess Urbs made him feel better after the loss :)
When Urb says he wants you on campus, .... you go to campus. Good to see he is incorporating family time into work time. If he can't do that, we got no Urbs.

I was just wondering the same thing. Every source I've seen just leads back either to this thread or to a thread on scout. Rivals has a story called "Meyer Magic For Bell?" but I'm not an insider so I don't know if he establishes the OV date there. Haven't seen anything on twitter, scout, 247 or ESPN BuckeyeNation about it yet from insiders/staff.
Wish Ohhiyo could tell us where he got the original information (and quote from Vonn's dad).

On Rivals, Marc Givler basically says he heard as much from someone "more on the ohio state side of things" last night (whatever that exactly means) but is currently working today on confirming the official visit for January 11th with someone in the Bell party. I havent seen anyone confirm it.
You would think it is a positive that he was reportedly in the locker room after the game and not Saban.

Vonn Bell would be a huge get to the way our defense had shifted last year. We played a TON of 4-2-5 especially against teams that like to spread out the field. Having Burrows, Thompson, Bell and Worley will be huge with playing 2 safteys and a STAR so often.

Ridgeland HC Mark Mariakis says it will be known today whether Vonn Bell decides to officially visit #OhioState January 11th.
All of the fans here in TN are going nuts over Bell visiting. I don't think UT will get him because he wants to have a good relationship with the head coach and Butch Jones is too late to the party. I could be wrong tho.
They also think they are in great spots with Derrick Green, Marquez North and Carl Lawson too. My guess is they get none of them.
I think they get North... He has had UT tops on his list for a while even when they were sucking. The other 2 I don't think they will get tho. If Green was smart he would give them a hard look. He could prob start from day 1.
I think Green would be better off at Auburn, assuming Michigan is off the table because ew. With Malzahn cleaning house, Aurburn still gets a top 10 recruiting class coming in, and have a fresh start. They don't have their marquee back yet (No offense to Jordan Wilkins), and Green can be a star, assuming that Malzahn is willing to run a similar power spread to what we ran this year.

I think Vonn has a great oppertunity to come here and help build a team and get his feet wet in coaching, even though Alabama is hard to turn down too and it's closer to home for him but Urbz is more personable than Saban and that's what I believe it will come down to. I think Tennessee is out.
