Looks like they went with a big name guy who has already been to an upper level school but did not last. Maybe they want someone who is not using UC as a stepping stone to get to a bigger school - Tuberville could be just that guy - most upper tier schools won't want him because he has already been there and did just an OK job. Not someone you would go out and spend big $$ on. Could be it's not so weird.
Texas Tech will first go after Kliff Kingsbury, the young OC at Texas A&M who was an Air Raid QB at Tech under Leach. He brought the Air Raid with him and is the reason that Manziel is about to win the Heisman in his offense.
He's only 33 but I don't see why they wouldn't try to bring him back if they could. They could land themselves a young up-and-coming coach with a great offense who was a star QB there.
Herman could be on their radar after that, but hopefully not.
That's a solid prediction. I also think Tech might take a run at Holgorsen. Sonny Dykes, I think, would be Tech's top pick if he had not already taken the Cal job.
I think WVU fans should be worried. Holgorsen was an assistant at Texas Tech from 2000-2007, including three years as co-offensive coordinator (the other co-coordinator was Sonny Dykes, Cal's new HC). These were the glory days of Mike Leach's 'Air Raid' attack, so I could see Tech boosters pushing to throw big money his way hoping to recapture some of that magic.
From Holgo's perspective, it might be easier to recruit the players he needs to run his version of the Air Raid to Texas Tech.
I also don't think Tuberville was "trending up" at Texas Tech. Started 6-1 and dropped the last four; ended up with a trip to the Car Care Bowl. With as well as A&M and TCU are doing, things might have started to get warmer for him.
I really thought it was going to be Coombs. So glad it wasn't. Kind of good to see Cincy bucking their trend of hiring rising stars who abandon them in a few years. Then again, nobody really saw Tuberville leaving Tech.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Tuberville was never a spread coach before his TT hire, which I always thought was a weird hire... and he lead them to their first losing season in almost 20 years (the year before last). I really thought Cincy would go with a young aggressive coach but maybe they understand they are more likely to leave like Dantonio, Jone and Kelly...maybe they know Tuberville isn't looking for Cincy to be his stepping stone?
What the...this is totally surprising to me. I'm wondering if he wasn't getting along with his AD or something. This was unexpected. I would have expected to see someone go to Tech from Cincy, not the other way around.
Guess he wanted to leave before that grad assistant sued his ass off...

He wasn't fired at tt was he? Did Cincy just step up? I kind of like the way he coaches. He's no Urban but I respect him.
Tuberville was not fired, and details of the deal with Cincy haven't been released. He was making $2 mil/year at Texas Tech.
Respect him? He's an assclown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCqAfV0oxj0
I know of another coach who many of us respect who once lost his cool and swung at someone on the sideline.

I'm just happy they didn't poach an OSU assistant. Heard some rumors of a couple of them being candidates.
But now I'm worried about Texas Tech coming after Herman, after all he has plenty of ties in Texas and came here from the Big 12
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

Good hire by UC. Bad loss by Tech. Not worried about Herman leaving.
Tuberville is close with UCs AD. They believe this will help to get attracted to the ACC

Smart move to leave now.

Great move for Cincy he'll be the perfect coach as they'll continue to run the spread

D. Anthony
Isnt Neal Brown at TT. There were rumors of him taking OC at UK. Might be TT did not want to lose Brown and something was said to TT?
Neal Brown is certainly a rising star.
I heard he was interviewing with southern miss and possibly Louisiana tech for head coach

We can't stop here; this is bat country...
Tuberville? We talkn' about Tuberville?

Who was going to sue him? Why?
