Doesn't apply to us, but on a slow day for news, I figured everyone would be in the mood to head over to mgoblog and laugh at their inevitable freakout about never getting high level WRs. Enjoy.

Oh, yeah, and also we might, like, want to keep track of our rivals, or something like that. Whatever.

Wow. Big miss for them. We'll see if they can still close on Green and McQuay.
4-6 seconds of relentless effort
McQuay aint leaving the South if he does its to Oregon or USC the Hill commit shuts the door for scUM. As for Green still wouldnt rule out Tenn and esp Ole Miss when Treadwell and Nkemdiche commit there def still think Green wants to play in the SEC.
I wouldn't be surprised if they get Mcquay, then again I could see it going the other way as well.
i think ttun has a much better chance at green than mcquay....green has given scUM the edge at the moment, but their fans must have the same bad taste in their mouths as they got from treadwell a few months ago. ttun seems to be the best fit, and they seem to be leading, but he never actually pulls the trigger. if green doesn't go blue soon, he won't at all.
mcquay is interesting because the quality of the music department is as important to him as football, if not moreso. also heard he was visiting usc and there were helicopters and police cars all over (interrupting practice). can't go over well for them. i think he goes to vanderbilt now that franklin has signed his extension
Class of 2010.
Glad to hear it.
It's because he doesn't want to go up against Cam Burrows, Eli Woodard, and possible Mr. Bell every year. While his scrawny QB is being chased all over the field by Washington, Spence, Lewis, Bosa and Co. Hell I don't blame the kid. Go Bucks!!!
Haha! I certainly don't blame him.....but I'm pretty sure all the guys on our d-line are faster than Mr. Morris so it won't exactly be ALL over the field ...more like a few yards at a time all over the field haha.
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
Totally agree
Buck-I.8 did you just finish with finals at OSU?
Finished last friday, yeah
You seem like you are enjoying yourself here today with your free time. Good for you. Hope you have done well with your classes and enjoy the holidays as well as the rest of you working hard to get through school.
You REALLY have to respect what Hugh Freeze (SEC or not) has been able to do with Ole Miss recruiting. Even as recently as a year or two ago, these sorts of recruits wouldn't have given Ole Miss a second glance (at least post Manning/Willis era).
Cue the "we never really wanted him anyway" or "must not have been a Michigan man" or "don't worry, we'll get Mcquay and Green so it doesn't matter anyway."
You forgot "his grades weren't good enough" spin that M*chigan and ND fans use.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
So if the miss out on Green as well, will they completely freak out?

If he goes ole miss look for Treadwell to make a serious push for Green
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Dawson is telling ttun fans not to "trip", for sure... :)
Perfect reason why I hate Michigan everyone talking on there like he is some diva or bad kid because he didn't sign with them. What a bunch of clowns.
Agreed. But unfortunately you see it here too, sometimes. For the most part, though, 11w members are respectful of these young men even if they don't choose OSU, but it makes me cringe a lil bit when it happens here every now and then.
Wow. This one has got to sting a little bit more than most as Treadwell seemed all Michigan for a while and tailor-made for the pro-set offense to which Wolverines and Hoke are transitioning. You can say the same for Green, but that recruitment will go to Signing Day, at least, which hasn't boded well for Hoke, whose classes have been early bird specials. One thing that has to be said is that Treadwell has been pretty much 100% upfront with everyone about the process (if you remember, he had a good visit here). Would have been a big get for Michigan. Have to wonder now if it will be a big miss or just a hiccup.
This really speaks to Hoke's issue on closing with marquee recruits as a whole. Granted, he plays the early game--which naturally puts him at a disadvantage, since top players of the early cycle are often eschewed to hype uncommitted propects towards NSD--but until he lands a McQuay or Green, it's a relative black eye on his recruiting that he cannot seem to close with these top recruits.
There's no question that Michigan is back on an upward trajectory; but to really be "back", you've got to pull in your fair share of elite talent. There's not a lot of Shane Morrises waiting at UM's beck and call.
It will be interesting to see how Michigan changes their recruiting tactics, if at all, next year. On the one hand, it's a top-ten class across all the boards. Hodge is right, though, in noting the lack of closing power with the special talents (like Noah Spence for us last year; he was a game-changer in terms of national perception) and you can possibly chalk this up to getting to 22-23 kids so early, thus sending out the message that space is limited. For some kids it's going to light a fire under their fannies. For others, the ones who like recruiting, it might come off negatively. It seems like the guys who are indifferent to it, namely offensive linemen, are making up the bulk of Hoke's coups.
Not really directed at Hodge, but rather at the idea of Michigan being "back." As always I have to ask, back to what? Back to Llllloyd Carr being owned by JT? Back to their hero Bo who never led them to a championship? Michigan hasn't been a dominant program since they stopped wearing leather helmets. Maybe 8-4 is back for Michigan?
I use the term "upward trajectory", because they've shaken off the shackles of the RichRod era, but still are not yet what I'd consider "elite".
Imagine if we hadn't landed Urban--perhaps flipped Pellini or D'Antonio--Michigan would be doing a hell of a lot better just from a recruiting standpoint.
I urge you to never bring up such frightening scenarios Brother Hodge. I got a series of cold shivers and convulsions at the very thought.
