Ha! Another jump ball fade to the corner as a TE? Actually if your the Raiders, what do you have to lose? Another game? So what you suck anyway.
Wayne Woodrow Hayes
Actually, he could end up quite the deep ball threat for Palmer. Let Palmer launch it down field and have Pryor go up one on one with a corner, Pryor is going to win that battle 9 times out of 10.
Problem is. Palmer is not that great of a passer Left Cincinnati because he wanted a competitive team. When he arrived in Oakland they were in contention for playoffs and they have nose dived ever since.
He left Cincinnati because he didn't want to deal with the Bengals anymore. He said trade me or I retire. He was going to leave 75 million dollars on the table and actually retire. Mike Brown wasn't going to oblige, but the Raiders offered too good of a deal to turn down. He would of played anywhere that WASN'T Cincinnati.
That's why I have no faith that this young promising group of Bengals will last. After about 5 years of dealing with Brown, everyone becomes "Bengalized" and gets tired of the BS. They'll slowly lose good talent, and will depend on good drafts because no good free agent in their prime will come to the Bengals. Only FA's they can get are old guys who were once good, like TO a couple years ago, or guys people are scared to go after because they've been to jail .
T.O played pretty well the year he was there. Leave the Bengals to go to the Raiders? Yeah, that was a huge upgrade. :/ If anyone quit on a team the way Palmer did, they'd get crucified by ESPiN.
So the Raiders wait until the season is completely lost, and Palmer throws his 500th INT to give TP a shot. Great job by the coaching, and management.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
TO may have played well here 1 year, but it was hardly while he was in his prime and he wasn't T.O. here. The reason Palmer kept getting worse here is because the team kept getting worse. There was no discipline in the offense, guys like Johnson and TJ quit on the team too, they just kept going on the field and half assing it.
I respect Palmer actually. He was going to walk away from 75 million dollars to make a point. Brown was going to let him too, til he got an offer he couldn't refuse. Palmer OK'ing the trade and saying he'd rather go to Oakland tells you just how bad it is to be a Bengal.
I know a couple former Bengals, one played with the team for over 10 years. When another player from the Bengals was released and then signed with Baltimore he called the guy I know and said man we should of left years ago, they treat the players like Kings here. The organization is ridiculous. They treat the players like crap, and it shows on who is willing to come to the team. No top flight free agents in their prime ever want to come to Cincinnati and it's because it's well known how ridiculous the players are treated.
If Palmer was stinking it up on Oakland as well, i'd agree with you.
My biggest problem with Brown is the fact that he still allows Marvin Lewis to collect a pay check.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Who is this "Johnson" you speak of?
Exactly right BT - he he left because of Mike Brown. As for comments Pamer is not any good - would differ on that. He is playing behind worst Oline in the NFl, has thrown for 4th most yds to date and is on pace to throw for 5,000 - rating is decent at 85 - due to 14 Ints, but has 22 tds & 85 passer rating, which is higher than Stafford, Cutler & Luck to name a few.

Edit* I'm so glad so many of you still think he deserves recognition from Buckeye fans. He's an overrated NFL player...just like Tebow IMHO. Keep the down votes coming....if it weren't for TP, we wouldn't have Urban as HC. That's about the only thing I look back on to TP for as a good thing...he's a THUG in a uniform...nothing more. By being like Tebow, you mean capable of taking a losing team and propell them into the second round of the playoffs?
I'm %100 sure that BHop didn't cheer once when Pryor beat Michigan's teeth in, lead OSU to wins against Oregon and Arkansas and turned the Big Ten, mostly, into his personal play ground. Except that I'm not-I am %100 positive that he, like everyone else, loved every second of Pryor winning more games than almost any other OSU QB.
Revisionist history. There wasn't a single OSU fan in the world upset at the results Pryor produced on the field at the time in which he was producing them. If you say you didn't like what he did, you are a bold faced liar-and a scoundrel to boot.

^^^^^LMAO for real about this....Tim Tebow did what...propelled them into the play offs...??? I'm assuming you mean Denver...(I'll take Manning Any Day of the Week). He was 8-8 Steetsn...I'm going to just say...."Common MAN!"
You must have missed the media whirlwind of crap that comes with him. Not to mention the NY Jets....he's done wonders for them too. WOW!

I would take Manning any day of the week too, that isn't the point. No one said Tebow was t he best NFL QB, just capable of winning.
I don't think you really watch football... sorry, but your facts are just wrong...
The Broncos were 8-8, Tebow didn't start the whole year. He came in when they were 1-4, Tebow's reccord was 7-3 as as a starter in regular season play and 1-1 in postseason play. I don't care if as a rookie he was 1-3, he was a rookie and he only really started 2 of those games (they give him a BS credit though he played sparingly, so technically he was 1-1 as a rookie). To state he has "don't nothing for the Jets" sarcastically tells me you haven't really been following football at all. With the fans screaming for Tebow to start Ryan has yet to pull the trigger. Stupid coaches don't define a player...
He is a capable football player, no one said he was the best.
I assume you also hate Maurice Clarrett and don't recognize the 2002 champinship? You know, the thug that actually served prison time and talked about all the things he could reveal about Ohio State recruiting? That guy, as opposed to Pryor who took his medicine, left the program, and hasn't been trash talking OSU. What about the other Tat5 guys? Posey, Heron- hate them?
Look, these guys are kids. They make mistakes, they get caught up in things, follow the urge of the moment. That's part of becoming an adult.
Clarrett was a thug, Pryor was a bit of a punk, other Buckeyes have been all sorts of things. I don't care, really. I want them to all to grow into great people, but if along the way they make some mistakes that hurt the football program, well that's the breaks. That's part of college football.
For me, Clarrett was a talented RB who wasted what could have been a great college career, served time in prison, and now seems ot be getting control over his life. Good for him. I wish him all the best. Pryor was a prima donna who was used to being a big star and had an entitled attitude, but he was also one hell of a QB- among the best in OSU history- and brought many great moments to our program. In the end, the harm to our program came much more from the stupidity of the NCAA ruleset than from Pryor. I wish Pryor the best in life and hope things work out for him.
I'll never understand the "hate" for Pryor. It's just stupid.
If someone hates Pryor and hates Mo C, then they also must hate Jim Tressel. Can't play the thug card on Pryor and then turn around and believe Tressel was some altruistic saint who broke the rules to protect guys from bad drug dealers.
You also must hate Posey and Jordan Hall, afterall it was their actions that lead to the bowl ban.
I would offer that many place the blame on Pryor for the whole mess. When you consider all the other things he seemed to be in hot water for (speeding tickets, loaned cars, the whole signing day charade etc), it is easy for people to point the finger at him and justify in their minds that he brought the others in with him.
I understand that people blame him for the whole thing, but to call him a thug or question the kind of person he is because of that kind of stuff never made sense to me. He never physically harmed anyone, he was never in trouble academically. His only run ins with the law came from speeding. If people do blame TP for the whole thing though, I would say why not blame the guy who enabled him to do all that and suck the other guys in???
Because to do that would be blasphemy. Most people don't want to admit the level of involvement Coach Tressel had in the whole mess and the enabling that he provided. As a note, I probably shouldn't have used the 'B' word again, but what the heck, right?
What about Boom Herron? Fans welcomed him back with open arms last year and he and Posey are big reasons that we have a bowl ban this year rather than last. Because of their second (or was it 3rd?? Hard to keep track) set of NCAA violations the NCAA pushed back their ruling date on the matter and by the time they decided they chose to hold off the bowl ban until the following year. Herron at least got to come back for his senior year, be a team captain and go to a bowl game while preventing the guys beneath him from playing in a bowl game when they did no wrong. Nobody seems to place much blame on him. I don't understand why everything has to fall squarely on Terrelle Pryor's shoulders.
Actually the sanctions came more so from Tres trying to cover it up! If Tres would have reported it, the players would have got suspended and we would have went on about our business...
Trading some trinkets for ink makes him a "thug"? Do you feel the same way about Boom, Posey and the others? Auburn players committing a armed home invasion is "thug" behavior. Getting some tat's in exchange for gold pants is immature and stupid, but it is by no means reason to call TP a thug.
Yep....I hope they all fail as far as I'm concerned. It was more than that too...we know what the media wanted us to know. It wasn't just trinkets....TP gave away 40,000 dollars in revenue for signatures and other shit you and I will never know about Pam (per a memorabilia dealer in NW Ohio).
I love all of you or well most of you here, but it's "high" time we all moved on from 2008 class...at least I have. My opinion will NEVER change on those guys....the point most of you are missing is he and a few others didn't care one bit about bringing down the university which we all love...not to mention the Senator. That might be why I wish nothing but bad karma on all those players...sorry just my opinion. I thought that's why we are allowed to put blogs like this on here...or perhaps I'm wrong...
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."
Woody Hayes 1913 - 1987
So "The Senator" has no blame in this mess at all? Also-if you or Pam, or me or anyone else will "Never know about it" (your words not mine) how are you so convinced its true?
Thirdly, how does one 'give away revenue for signatures'. PLEASE enlighten us.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
There are many who do not want to believe he did, thus they need to place the blame somewhwere else. Pryor is the most high profile of the group, so he catches the most grief by default.
This is a Thread about TP isn't it???
Tressell's paying for his failures...did TP??? Please please enighten me??? That's my point...there's stuff that never came to light and never will. Wow ppl I never knew you all like TP so much.
I meant he received revenue for over 40,000 dollars which he did and my computer is messing up and not letting me go back to edit. Anything else you'd like to be "enlightened" with????

So that's it then. You are mad that he and Herron and Posey didn't pay their pound of flesh. Well that's the NCAA. The University of Miami is going to be facing a firing squad for something no one in the program had anything to do with. That's how it works. And yes, I absolutley like Pryor. He's the second greatest QB in OSU history behind only Troy Smith and Pryor wasn't even used properly. I couldn't care less what he did off of the field because I'm not on a high horse where I hold 18-22 year old kids to some standard I'd never be able to live up to myself. We want the guy to be what we want him to be and when he isn't he's hated. Its fine if that's your thing but I can look at Pryor for what he was-a complicated kid who loved OSU, played his ass off for OSU, won a boatload of games for OSU and made a few mistakes he was enabled to make by a coach who sort of sold all of us a bill of goods in his own right.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Yeah, I'd say TP did pay for his. At least half the largest fan base in college football despises him. He lost his whole senior season and all the accomplishments his team made in his junior season were erased. He's not allowed on campus for years. He didn't get a crack a title or Heisman. He got drafted in the supplemental draft, where someone probably takes a flyer on him because of his freakish talents in the late first or early 2nd round(see Tim Tebow) and he wasn't allowed to take part in team activities for 5 weeks when he got to the Raiders. I'd say he paid quite a bit for his mistakes. Not to mention, people who don't personally know him or anything about him label him a thug.
Wasn't Pryor disassociated from the university for not talking? I know for a fact he was penalized by Roger Goodell. Wasn't allowed to practice or play for the team for the first five weeks of the season.
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.
JACK TATUM
If they gave away 40K, I'm assuming you mean in equipment then that's completely on the coaching staff to let that kind of money walk out the door. I have a buddy who works PR for an NFL franchise and a TV crew wanted to borrow a helmet for a segment. He gave them the helmet and said with in 10 minutes the equipment manager jumped his shit and said where the fuck is that helmet? He was baderging him until he got the helmet back from the crew.
SO, every dime of equipment is closely watched and accounted for. If 40K in helmets, shoes, jerseys etc walked out the door, the staff knew about it and allowed it to happen. Again, do you blame the kids or the staff who recruited them and turned a blind eye to all the wrong they were doing so those kids would come to Ohio State?
We can only go on what has been proved. The $40K for autographs was never proved. The trinkets were.
As for moving on, I have. But when someone calls Terrelle Pryor a "thug" I will respond. I also don't buy that those guys didn't care about tOSU. I believe they absolutely did and wished they had never done what they did. Jim Tressel brought himself down. I will always love and respect JT, but he had an obligation to take what he knew down the hall to compliance. By not doing that, he ended his career. I am quite sure he wishes he had.
I'm one of those folks who thinks he did take it down the hall to compliance. I think Tressel took the bullet so OSU wouldn't be truly hammered when it came out the compliance department and athletic director didn't act.
That's just an opinion though. I have absolutely no proof of any kind. Zero. Completely comes from my sometimes strange brain.
CPLUNK - Congrats, you've hit the nail right on the head.
I have very, very, very good sources both presently in and formerly within the football program and administration that pretty much echo the same sentiment.
Tressel did in fact take it to compliance. He took the right steps. I'm not saying Coach Tressel is 100% blame-free, but he was more or less a victim of being loyal to a fault.
The more disturbing revelation is that Tressel was more the fall guy for A.D. Gene Smith. Now, you can make your own assumptions as to why tOSU didn't want Gene Smith to take the blame he deserved. Part of it has to do with Tressel was planning on retiring within 5 years anyways. I, for one, would be surprised if he comes back to coach somewhere agan. I know he wanted to retire a Buckeye on his own terms. But, the time frame for his tenure at OSU came to an earlier end than he wished, so, maybe he feels a few years down the road like he needs another challenge. I don't know.
But, the bottom line is Jim Tressel did take this to compliance. Gene Smith did a lot of whatever you want to call it: fibbing, not telling the truth, lying, lies of omission, etc.. ... and the B.O.T. and powers-that-be went along with that for Smith. Smith flubbed this up about as bad as one possible could flub something.
Some on this thread want to keep primarily blaming Tressel, but, they just simply don't know the facts about what really happened. After what I've come to know, if you had a list of 10 people to blame here, behind the players, the AD, the Board, compliance....Tressel would be at the bottom. Trust me.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
I'm in the same boat with you both. Tress fell on the sword here. To protect the program, the university, and the players. He had already stated he didn't see himself coaching in to his 70's or 80's. He was winding it down, and then this happened. So instead of trying to save his ass and reputation, he simply said ill take this one guys. That way it leaves with me and the school, program and players aren't on the hook for it. Its no coincidence his resignation turned into a retirement, and him receiving the full benefits of his pension.
exactly, LUCKYNUTS
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Here's your proof...this tells me all I need to know despite where it came from. Not to mention...my friend knows this dealer from Columbus (Talbott) in the story and he has shit directly from TP and Tressel. Not to mention stuff from others that Rife got. It's the FACTS that make me ill and I realize this happens when ppl graduate, get in binds or whatever...but not when they're on campus attending college. I'd say there's MUCH more than we actually know...but oh well. Everyone loves TP obviously and it's a shame how fast we all forget.

There isn't a single word in that article that is "proof" that TP received $40K for signing autographs. Not one.
Pam...there's never going to be proof of it in writing or anything else. There aren't receipts for drug deals...or in this case memorabilia trades for tats or cash for it or whatever. That's who Talbott and Pryor (and MANY others) were dealing with...a drug dealer who was dabbling in memorabilia sales to ppl who'd buy it (just like drug dealers do with counterfeit bags and such...but ppl turn a blinds eye to that as well...just not that big of a deal bc hell...these Gucci bags would normally be expensive. Hence free tats or 40K for "free trinkets" now kinda starting to see my point...or still NO). That's why I have a BIG problem with how many ppl are turning a blinds eye and unfortunately most are OSU fans that aren't looking at the BIG picture. It was a culture created by the 2008 kids by far and "dabbled in" by some before like Mo and Ray Smalls as far as we know. Problem was they talked to the media about it...just imagine how many haven't.

Maybe don't use the word proof then in your post? Just a thought
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
BUCKEYE76BHOP - I don't think YOU'VE moved on from the 2008 class AT ALL. Here we are discussing TP in THE PRESENT, as in possibly playing in the NFL, and you're bringing up stuff he did in the past.
YOU made this a discussion about Tatgate, instead of the original poster's intent - to discuss him possibly stepping in for the Raiders.
I totally agree. I cant believe this guy is willing to call TP a thug because he got some tats. Wow...
nailed it Pam
So because he traded some gear for tattoos he's a thug??!!! The guy is a diva but in no way is he a thug!! Get your head out of ur a$$ man! He did alot of good for us on the field while he was here and I respect his freakish abilities. We all make mistakes (including you!) but at the end of the day "Once a Buckeye, ALWAYS a Buckeye!!" Go Bucks...
The article has him playing QB which might not be bad for Oakland since there O-line is pretty weak. Could be interesting to see how well he does.
Here is the thing if you put him in there you have to leave him in. There will be some ugly plays and some great plays.
Don't know how it'll work until you try.
I have no idea why the Oakland staff took so long before they decided to start him:
(1) At this point, the season is lost, so you're not playing for playoff contention.
(2) You already know what you have in Palmer, and know what his ceiling is.
(3) You get to see if Pryor is worth the money they're paying him to be a QB, and if he has any potential at the position.
(4) You find out whether you keep Terrelle at QB or move him to TE or WR.
(5) You'll know if you need to go back to the draft for a QB of the future.
Curious mismanagement if you ask me. I suppose this is part of the reason why the Raiders are such a sorry mess this season.
"There is a force that makes us all brothers, no one goes his way alone." --Woody Hayes
I think you mean a sorry mess every year. Confusing draft picks and weird signings.. I wouldn't have even signed palmer TBH, guy is old. Throw TP in there, see what he does if hes awful, replace him and draft a real QB. I been waiting on this for a while though, big TP fan, always will be.
Agree, I've been saying this for over a year. It's another lost season in Oakland - it's not like you can redshirt these guys...may as well give them a chance. Especially an athletic freak like Pryor. You don't even have to play him at QB --- try him in the "Raaaaida-Cat" (yes, I just made that up), or at receiver in jump ball situations, or at safety in hailmary situations.
The Raiders have been a stupid franchise for awhile now.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Pryor didn't play :(
Too bad...because he never will. You can't play QB for Oakland...then you'll never play QB anywhere in the NFL. Seem overrated...or am I still wrong...???

The way read it was he would get playing time after this week. So here is to next week!
This will be a win-win for the Raiders. If he plays well, the fan base will be excited about him playing next year and they can get rid of Palmer without angering fans. If he doesn't play well, they can move on to a different QB of the future. It's time for them to see what they got when they got TP.
I'm rooting for him.
Maybe this will help clear things up...or just make the waters more murky...either way...here it goes.
Just think about this to yourself, if you were a player from 2008-2012 and you had two or three B1G title rings and several gold pants, would you trade, sell, or whatever for some freaking tattoos or money because you're broke (which college student isn't)? The answer is obviously rhetorical....HELL NO because it's not worth trading or selling! It "should" have meant more to these kids to have those "trinkets" or memorabilia that "should be" priceless (this is why I call Pryor a Thug...because he's not the figure head, he was the top player...and the one who started it all...again more info that you won't find on the internet....just ask a student/player for OSU from 2008-2012..they'll tell you. Not to mention...Tress felt compelled to cover it up because he was the best QB at the time...again...not worth it. OSU would of had two or three losses in 2010 as opposed to one and no ban and Tress is still there). That's just coming from someone who dreamed of playing for OSU but settled for a DIII college instead in order to actually play;-)

Honestly, who needs a ring or gold pants to commemorate a win? They played the game, they don't need trophies and stuff like that. I never played at Ohio State level athletics, but I competed at a pretty high level and won quite a few trophies and awards. Now, at 31 years old, I couldn't tell you where half the crap is now. I've moved and they got in the way. Most of the stuff was tossed out to the curb. I have a couple of things I've drug with me everywhere, but in general that stuff doesn't mean much to me. I don't need something to show people to say look what I did. I played in the games, I took part in the battle, I have the memories and can tell the stories. You can bet your ass though, if any of that stuff was worth a lot of money you just might see it on Pawn Stars one day.
I don't say that to belittle anyone who would keep their awards, my point is, just because you may value something doesn't mean I will. So, Pryor, Herron, and Posey may have not cherished their gold pants, big deal? A guy like Dane may have cherished his, big deal? Good for all of them. The problem is, selling their junk was against the rules. I don't think they should be blasted because the sold stuff that let's face it is sentimental. It was their stuff and it was worth a lot of money. The only I problem I have with it is that they broke a rule. I have team mates that I'm still friends with who display their stuff proudly, and that's absolutely fine with me I don't judge them for it, but I also don't expect to be judged because I got rid of mine along the way.
You played football for tosu???
"I never played at Ohio State level athletics, but I competed at a pretty high level and won quite a few trophies and awards."
Post above the last one. But the point he makes is perfectly on point...
Ah my mistake I missed it.
So basically your bitter because you weren't good enough to get a offer to OSU and play for tress? grow up
Really...??? I wasn't big enough may be...good enough...not so sure about that one (I played DIV HS football too...only DIV or lower kids to have gone to OSU were the Holman brothers as far as Defensive players lately. Ross's brother played FB too...not LB). I could have "walked on" but who really wants to do that...would you? I wanted to play...and at 6'0 210...220 at the most...not playing too much DL for OSU...do you think?? Just look at the last two years classes Dlinemen...LOL prob. not.

Do you listen to what athletes say? To many, and I mean many athletes, they don't care about sentimental crap like trophies and team loyalties (moreso pro). What might be a lifetime souvenir commemorating a memory for you, just might be a piece of junk to them that might be worth more than what they value it for. Does a signature mean anything to Michael Jordan? HELL NO! but it is worth thousands to us, at least on EBAY!
To some of these kids, a pair of gold pants isn't a BCS NC ring!
you obviously value your items more than others do, but don't lay that on Pryor and the others. Its not their fault they have bigger aspirations than the rest of us. Just as a one dollar bill doesn't mean jack to Bill Gates, gold pants don't mean much to someone who thinks they will get much bigger trophies later on in life.
and just because you feel the way you do about Pryor doesn't mean others feel the same. Some actually have great memories because of him, so they just can't throw out those memories. Some might have fallen in love during a Pryor game. some might have had an amazing achievement at that same time and Pryor might have been apart of that. Some traveled to the Rose Bowl for the very first time in their life to watch OSU win against Oregon and Pryor is apart of that.
and its not a good idea to attack others for telling you that!
I don't think players are nearly as fanatical about OSU as fans are. This is why I don't get mad when an Ohio kid picks UM over OSU. If he feels like UM can get him to the league and he has better relationships with their coaches then so be it. OSU made hundreds of millions of dollars on the football team during Pryor's tenure, and we are busting his chops for wanting to make money as well. I think this makes the NCAA the thug and Pryor (and a whole lot of other kids who never got caught) kids that are trying to cash in on something they have earned.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
35 hours to Pasadena! Go Bucks!
I'd sell all my crap, in a heartbeat. That stuff has no value...
What crap...did you go to OSU? If you didn't go there and put in the time to win them....don't say what you would or wouldn't do with them...because you don't actually know.

Umm... why such a stern responce?
my buddies family has 7 gold pants, they have them locked up and wouldn't give them away for anything. it's more than money to people who truely admire and respect what they put in to get those things. dont know why you got so many downvotes.
So you're friends with the Borens?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

My guess would be Rick Harrison.
I went through some tough times after I got divorced. Make that really tough times. My mother had given me some family heirlooms including her wedding silver. I sold it to pay rent and buy food for me and my son. I never ever thought I would do that, but sh!t happens.
That's much different...pretty sure TP's mom moving to Columbus means they weren't hurting for $$$...not to mention the Mazda ZX he was driving which was what students who were "paying" for their college education had a problem with (not to mention you could see him on TV/channel 10 cruising in it too).
Personally I wish they'd delete this thread but apparently ppl want to still have well wishes and sympathy for someone who tore OSU down. Not to mention the rest of his Tat-Gate friends.

Wow...I think if you read this from Chris Spielman and that from Archie and the Dispatch...you'll see that former players weren't cool with this (I hate even looking that crap up...but I guess proof is what I need. Can't wait to see some of you flame those two...if you do...you're going to Buckeye Hell IMO;-). The culture with these kids and evidently fans too nowadays is freaking ridiculous with how these "trinkets" are not important. In memory of 2-10-1...I refuse to hear that gold pants and B1G rings are just material things. I hate to say this but some OSU fans are just as spoiled acting as the Tate-gate kids IMO.

to some, they are. Some players just love to play the game and don't value "trinkets". Some of these players value money and winning more than they value stuff. Some players grew up with very little, in small places that have little room to keep extra stuff. Some players come from homes that struggle to just pay rent let alone hold items that are valuable just to be robbed of them in the future because luxury items just attract thieves!
Maybe some people should think about that every player didn't grow up in luxury to cherish such things so they can care less to have them around. Its just another toy!
Despite whatever story these kids may have, even Spielman and Archie don't know what matters most to people. Not all these players have the earning potential they have and not all these players will have careers after their college career. To some, a few grand is a few grand!
What is buckeye lore and history to you, is nothing to a man who can't find a job and anything they can get is worth a whole bunch more than some trophies! You can't assume every player will be set for life. I just doesn't happen that way in life and really if what you say is true about Pryor, then maybe he does need to get what he can, while he can.
I don't think so, I think he will eventually become a WR and pretty good one too.
Spot on. My dad was an administrator in one of the poorest school districts in Ohio. He saw numerous kids come to school with shoes that had giant holes in them. Some family or PTA mom would buy the kids a brand new pair of shoes to take home. The next day the kid would come in with the same old worn out shoes. Their parents sold the new ones to pay the rent, or put food on the table etc. The PTA parent would inevitably get upset, but the fact remains, shoes are worth less than the things the family values. It wasn't an insult to the PTA mom.
What the crap, did you go to OSU!? How do you KNOW what you would do... oh wait... they did...
If you could buy a pair of gold pants on ebay or at a pawn shop would you buy them to add to your collection of memorabilia or would you pass out of disappointment and disgust at the player who gave them up? I'd be tempted to buy them and then feel a little guilty for having them.
I wouldnt buy them. And visa versa, the opportunity cost of not selling isnt worth it if I need the cash.
im gonna jump in here and give my honest opinion of TP. When he played football, i was so happy to have him on our team. by the time i was a senior and he was a sophomore i believe, i had heard plenty of stories about him tokin a lot and being at parties all the time and even seeing him at little bar his freshmen year.. not too big of a deal i guess. but i was in a position of just a student at ohio state. i looked up to him because he had been given a scholarship to play, and him making those decisions made me think less of him. because in my opinion he should have held himself to a higher standard - it's tough for some kids to find the money to afford a college degree.
i loved watching him play but i can remember watching with my friends and after he converted that 4th and 20 (?) against iowa we were like oh my god that was awesome, but we still think he's an idiot off the field. and that was before all this tattoo stuff happened (btw i can't believe people who comment on stories like the nd-osu article sarah posted in the skull session are still trying to make jokes about that). there are so many factors in all of this, but i have to agree that what may be worth something to one person may not be worth as much to another. so after all of this, i don't hate the guy and what happened happened. i really think he understands that quite a few osu fans despise him and he might be afraid to show his face in columbus now - i think in that regard he's paid his dues. i can't hate the guy but there's a little bit of animosity for making a selfish decision (only because i have never been in that position to be able to say would i or wouldn't i). he was a young guy who probably had a bunch of "yes men". one hell of a football player though. thanks for the rose bowl!! and the sugar bowl! and all the victories against michigan!
I like football
What happened to BHOP? I usually enjoy your comments and am not entirely disagreeing with SOME (majority no) of your points, however, you went full on HAM in the worst way on some ppl in this thread.
EDIT: And I really, really dont understand the downvotes for presenting a disagreeable opinion, bullshit.
I hate what happened to OSU last year and apparently most don't or what ever their opinion is....that may be it. But oh well...as stated above...how quick many forget...
As for your edit...I'd say MANY need the Banhammer based on 11W policy...but apparently that's was forgotten too...
•Upvote anything that's well-articulated. Even if it's contrarian and inspires you to write up a 1500-word response, give opposing viewpoints the same love you'd give something you agree with 100%.
•Upvote anything witty that makes you laugh (or most anything Denny posts).
•Funny pictures? Upvote.
•Use the upvote to cancel out needless downvotes. Not everyone plays by the same rules, and a lot of quality comments get downvoted into oblivion because someone (A) doesn't like the poster, (B) doesn't like their arguement, or (C) doesn't like the team they root for.
•Use your downvotes sparingly, for things that are obviously over-the-line. If you're violating the policy (i.e. "being a jerk"), let the downvotes rain.
•If it's borderline, play it safe.

The second to last bulletpoint pretty much sums it up.

I love Terrelle Pryor....he should be up in the ring of honor at the shoe. He's the best ever...I bet the Raiders go to the Super Bowl next year just because of how good he is.

Dude, abandon thread!!!!!!!! climb instead of dig!!!!! run away!!!! pull up the white flag and fight another day.
If Custer had had one more Cavalry soldier June 25, 1876, in Montana, it would not have made a difference.
I never give up...sorry dude.

So you prefer to look like a fool instead?
Well this thread went well off in the wrong direction. Props to every one who tried to get back on track with it.
Because I couldn't go for three. -Woody-
Can't say as I blame Oakland. Their season is beyond toast. Being from Cincy, I'm just glad the human turnover machine that is Carson Palmer is gone. He always one of the most over rated QBs in the NFL.
Our honor Defend!
says he attempted a pass today...no rushes however
He handed the ball off 3 times...read the skull session from today. Not to mention...the down voting boo birds should be out...others besides myself were making fun of him...uh oh;-) Not the beloved TP...others besides my self think his NFL career will be lack luster...whats this world coming too right???

Bhop - Ever stop to think the issue is YOU and your passive aggressive knocks on TP and those who "support" him. Noone thinks the guy is a saint, noone thinks he's the greatest Buckeye ever, but the guy did keep his mouth shut for the most part and likely saved us from getting slapped with LOI. It's one thing not to like what happened as a result of his actions, but you are basically hoping he fails and laughing about it. He made mistakes but there is no reason to want him to suffer in his life and career.
I just give an opinion(s) and all who "support" him as you call it, go over board...so I did. Never "lauged" about his failures...he's in the NFL no??? So "technically" he hasnt' failed...yet. See...my point is Karma is real...and you'll see with him and other tatgate guys. Simple as that really...
I have never said ONE thing about his abilities on the field for the record. I mentioned his as well as Tress's record vs tTUN as well as bowl games will always be appreciated....but the off the field stuff won't be forgotten by this guy (if he "cared" so much then why put that all at risk???). Sorry but that's how I feel...many others can't handle it...simple as that.
