Sonny Dykes has reportedly accepted the Head Coaching position at the University of California-Berkley.
The Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech finished the 2012 in the AP Top 25 at 9-3. The university turned down an offer to play in the Independence bowl this past weekend.
Under Dykes, Louisiana Tech ran a no-huddle offense at a frenetic pace, finishing No. 2 in total offense this past season.
Something tells me the game next year @Cal could be a slugfest. First team to 60 wins.

Yes, I agree. This hire makes the scheduled game @ Cal much more interesting. I haven't seen La Tech play this year, only some of their highlights. I wonder though if his offense is predicated on having the "right" players in place to run it, or if it is a system that is effective regardless.
Just my observations, from albeit a horrendous Buckeye's D at the start of last season. Scoring did not appear to be Cal's problem last year.
“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
On a side note: By turning down the bid for the Independance Bowl, Louisiana Tech essentially allowed my alma-mater, Ohio University to take their place.

Gentlemen, please welcome to the main stage, Sonny Dykes!!!

Lets hope the staff at Cal is smart enough not to turn down a bowl offer
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
Sometimes schools actually lose money accepting bowl bids, with travel accomidations, etc. But being them, don't think I could have done that. That being said,GO OHIO!!

wow, the Cal game might have just gotten much more difficult. Not sure they have the players to play his style, but that could be a much tougher game than I previously thought it would be if they do.
I think Keenan Allen has said he is going pro, so that takes away one big playmaker.
Good.

The Silver Bullets cut down on the number of big plays early enough next season that's a 2-3 touchdown win for OSU.
Louisiana Tech lost to Texas A&M 59-57 on Oct. 13 and led the nation in scoring average at 51.5 points per game. That offense causes headaches. Of course their defense allowed 38.5 points per game, too (119th in the nation). So they were essentially an improved version of Indiana this year.
Could be an early trap game for OSU. Could be a WVU-Baylor type of basketball score game, too.
