I realize the BIG will probably never rename the conference. The tradition and branding of the name would make it a difficult decision. But, since the traditional conferences are being sacrificed anyway, could we ever get to the point where it would be considered?
I know 11 teams wasn't a big deal, but doesn't Big Ten seem like a silly name for a 16 or 20 team conference?

And imagine 20-30 teams.
The Big Ten will refer to the teams that are decent to good. Big 10 + 6 to 10 mediocre teams.
If we ever expand to twenty teams you could have two divisions of ten and then the Big Ten would just be referring to one of the divisions

Ohio State vs. Michigan (The Game will only intesify when played twice in one season)
Ohio State vs. Oklahoma
Ohio State vs. Nebraska
Ohio State vs. Texas
Some rivalries are probably about to take a hit, especially if it lands at 16 teams as most are assuming it will, but the tradition of the conference name is one that I can't imagine being sacrificed. I personally believe it'll remain "Big Ten" in some way, shape or form regardless of the number of member institutions.

Big 10 is fine IMO. Its just a label, it has been just a label since Penn State joined the conference and pushed it to 11. Theres no sense in trying to rename the brand because of the number of members, its been this way for 20 years. I think the divisions need renaming and be more geographically designed.

I'm with Highwire and Tenn...We should put TOSU in the Winners Division and the rest of the B1G in the Losers Division. Let them duke it out and then we'll come in and finish them off.
If we expand to 20 teams, just switch it to the Big Tens.
Until we go over .500 in bowl season we should be the Big Slow.
