Random: Can Barry Alvarez coach Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl?
Since Paul Chryst pretty much took Wisconsin's coaching staff with him to Pitt last year, nobody really has "seniority" on the staff that is left, right? What are the chances that Alvarez picks up the whistle again on an interim basis just for the bowl game? The guy is their current AD, and the Wisconsin faithfuls still love him.
Would the NCAA allow it? I can't think of any reason they would block him from doing it.
Edit:
Per Sports Madison.com, Barry Alvarez will announce in a press conference tomorrow at 10AM that he will coach the Badgers in his 4th Rose Bowl appearance.

Not a NCAA decision. Alvarez holds the power here, he could name himself interim coach for a game with no issue. I actually hope he does coach that game, I'm a fan of his.

Me too. What a good guy and great coach.
Hope he does and wins, something Bielema couldn't do...
I think I saw a rumor on twitter that he may consider being the coach for the rose bowl purely as a figure head, but wouldn't call any plays. Would definitely be a cool thing to see him back out there for the rose bowl though.

I have a feeling Alvarez will be Wiscy's next HC if he can't find anyone he wants. Many are saying he won't...I'm not so sure. Sure would be interesting to see Alverez VS. Meyer considering he kind of had Tress's #.

Looks like it is going to happen. Can Barry go 4-0 in the Rose Bowl?
Thanks!
I like Barry's chances better than Bielema's in any case. Plus, there really is no downside to Alvarez coming back.
1. Wisconsin wins, Alvarez is a hero, and the B1G gains some respect back on the national level.
2. Wisconsin loses, Bielema's fault and it was the expected result anyways.
I hate Wisconsin, but I have family from West Allis and they couldn't be happier about Barry coming back to coach the Rose Bowl. Apparently he hasn't ruled out coming back full-time as well.

Fun fact, when Alvarez coaches he is 3-0 in Rose Bowls. Bulimia is 0-2

Cool
O H I O is the Buckeye State
I wouldnt be surprised if he coaches next season, either. Maybe to give the school more time to find a successor. Watch the Badgers go and upset Stanford now.

I wanted to see Wisconsin lose in the Rose Bowl...but I've always been a fan of Alvarez, so I'm definitely pulling for a win now (even though it's not likely against Stanford)
