Brad Bournival of ESPN tweeted Kenny Lacy (4-star OT) has an official visit set for OSU. Is the coaching staff trying to have some backup plans or is this a realistic flip?

Yeah that's already on the thread "January Vistor Thread"
My bad, if the 11W people want to deleate this go ahead.
I was only talking about his visit, still a valid question.
Yeah I am wondering if this is a backup plan. I sometimes wonder what Urban and the staff are thinking but will never question them.
We missed out on a lot of OL targets... he is probably no longer a backup plan but rather at the top of the list now.
This one feels like an OSU Michigan battle to me, with UCLA having EIGHT (8) offensive lineman in this class, it's a pretty big logjam there and the fact that Lacy is taking visits tells me he either A. isn't a fan of that many in one class or B. finally got the high profile offers he wanted.
Also think even should he want to commit to UM, he will be told to wait until Dawson decides. They had long been done recruiting OL before Dawson decommitted. I see a decent opportunity for the buckeyes to land another OT. Haven't seen a whole lot of film on him but he doesn't look too bad at all. He has a very solid offer sheet and good size to play OT
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
There's kind of a log jam over at scUM on the o-line too. OSU will be starting some young guys in the near future.
Lacy is definitely Michigan's backup plan, as is any OL who received an offer after Dawson visited Florida. However, it's not really a log jam, by any stretch. UofM is likely losing 4 lineman (assuming Lewan is gone) and Schofield was a JR this year. Michigan is still trying to build some depth that was greatly depleted during RichRod's time at Michigan.
The staff wants 5 OL in the 2013 class and 4 more for 2014 (with one spot already occupied by Denzel Ward, who was recently offered by Coach Meyer)

I say Lewan is crazy to stay. The cards were aligned perfectly when Long stayed, but you don't have that next year. Take the money.
I read an article today (yahoo, I think) that says Lewan is 50/50. The draft "expert" that they quoted said he projects him as a top 10-15 pick, but if Lewan was his son, he'd recommend staying another year.

My guess is that the expert is a closet ttun fan and he is trying to influence his decision.
Just as we wished for Hank to come back but knew it would be right for him to go, Lewan should take the money (saying this as a football fan, not a OSU fan). He is arguably the best tackle on CFB this year, and one more year in the trenches is just that many more snaps that somebody could roll into the back of his legs and tear something. Lineman should go if the first round is a guarantee

Think they talk them into staying there. Tell them if they stay they will be champions or something like that. Hoke has to have something to cheer for next year as he stares blankly onto the field.
If Lewan is guaranteed a first-round spot, he should go. I've said that about any player, including Big Hank. Most guys that come back for their senior year of glory find that it doesn't work out like they hoped and they end up losing a year of professional paychecks in the process. Plus there's no added incentive to moving higher in the draft as in the past with rookie salary caps.
Anybody remember when Hart, Henne, and Long all returned? Lost to Appy State and then Ohio State at home. As hilarious as that memory is for me, it's a strong example to go and get paid while you can.
