The SEC ruled that Alabama DL Quinton Dial will not be suspended for the hit on Aaron Murray. Not surprised there was no suspension but what are you thoughts on the ruling on what should it have been? Also, there was no penalty called during the play. For those of you who haven't seen it. Here it is.

was there a flag on the play for unnecessary roughness?
No nothing was called on the play. I'll add that into the original post.
Not suspension worthy, but should have been a penalty
There have been players suspended in the past on plays similar to this one.
Hitting the QB is a time-honored tradition along with locker wedgies and human sacrifice
Helmet to helmet, but no way I expected the sec to go against their best interests. Wonder what roger goodell would have done? (Sarcasm)
Funny these hits were once considered normal and now the minute a player doesn't get suspended after laying a big hit everyone gets upset
I'm not upset about it I was just curious about other people's opinions on this. I think a penatly for unnecessary roughness but definitely not a suspension worthy hit.
There should have been no unnecessary roughness and the refs got it right by not throwing the flag on that play. The QB was close enough to the play and was actually running toward the play. If he was clear across the field minding his own business and that hit was laid on him I would absolutely vow for a penalty and possibly a suspension.
This seems a fine worthy hit, but we can't fine people who don't get paid (above board), so you are left with few options. Definitely should have been a penalty.
Except for the helmet-to-helmet, this is pretty much what defensive players are taught: when given an opportunity to hit the QB, hit the QB. He should've been flagged and that should've been the end of it.
Should have been fined by the SEC, that's at least a$20K hit. Oh wait, this isn't the NFL, my bad. Forgot they're amateurs...
