I asked the question on another forum topic about the absence of Nathan Williams at the ceremony last night. Urban never mentioned him either. Is this because he is considered part of last years graduating class? Just wondering as I found it odd him not being there.

At Remington It was the only thing I could think of as to why he wasn't there. He is a 6th yr senior, ya know

No he is a 5th year senior. He played his true freshman year and last year was his 4th

I thought it was very odd as well. No mention of him whatsoever....not sure what that means. Also not sure what the downvote on the thread is all about as this is a legitimate question, guy got no recognition last night.

The OSU spokesman said he wasn't sure why he wasn't there.

Nathan Williams was the only senior not in attendance. OSU spokesperson said he wasn't sure why Williams wasn't there, but he's scheduled to graduate at this month.

Given that he's a senior maybe he had a big group project that he needed to spend time working on before Finals week?

I know that as a senior more of your time is allocated towards group work in a lot of majors.

Same here. If you watched it, I was the guy walking behind the stage right after Gee left the stage. Could only stay for 15 minutes due to my final for Spanish at 8 that night

No, at the end of the MSU game he was the first player to run up and celebrate with coach. He did that "open your heart" gesture to him.

A couple possibilities: He had a big project or final for one of his classes, and the dude wants to graduate. Or, his senior season just ended, and he was passed out drunk or something and just kinda doesn't care about banquets (unlikely). Or, he had like 4 or 5 chicks with him at the time. Or, he had the flu. I would say the first or last options are most likely given the situation. But still, it could have been ANYTHING. Death in the family? This is stuff fans don't know.

That's what has me so baffled. He was a huge part of this years success and to not even mention him is unconscioncable. I guess it's one of those things I will go through life wondering about...;)

I will never forget that picture of him standing alone watching the fans sing Carmen(?) after the loss to Florida last year. He was the only Buckeye in sight.

It's that damn McRib... It came back Friday at some of the local McDonald's (see the Sawmill at 270 store) and Nate couldn't wait any longer. It's also to blame for 1/3 of the students that had free tickets and no showed. Stupid McRib!

I heard Nathan on 97.1 The Fan Friday afternoon on the Bishop and Rothman show. I just caught the end of the interview so I don't know if they spoke about the Celebration at all. Not sure why I'm posting this. It doesn't answer the question of where he was Friday.

Well he is still alive, his girlfriend was in my class graduating from high school. He's attended all of the other "senior class" events. My only guess is something to do with finals week, which is totally excusable. There's a likelihood that he may have had a final during that time, since semester finals are Thursday/Friday/Monday/Tuesday.

Being a freshman, I don't hate them that much cus I never had to do quarters. My brother on the other hand, he despises semesters

I was reserving judgement on semesters at first because I liked the idea of being on the same schedule as all of my friends around other Ohio schools, I just think OSU royally screwed up on how they did their semesters. Where was our "fall break" that everyone else loved so much? And WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD DO WE HAVE FINALS SPLIT BY A WEEKEND?!

They are ridiculously messed up. I went to BGSU for a while and left there because semesters was horrible and caused my GPA to be ruined. Thank god for Columbus State! LMAO

semester finals are Thursday/Friday/Monday/Tuesday.

Dude I have grown up with semester here at U of Colorado, and I'm pretty sure most law schools are on the semester schedule. I am dreading next year when I have finals in Criminal Law, Court Procedure, Tort Law and Opening/Closing Argument Theory all within 4 days of each other. It's almost not worth the money at the end of the journey to get ready for that shit... Yikes.

Regardless, seeing back out on the field and playing the way he did was great. Love to see a kid battle back from serious injuries. IMO, he deserves as much praise as any..

In all seriousness, I hope to hear more about this. Nate Williams actually had a great year considering his injury - he stood alone at the 2012 Gator Bowl to sing Carmen. He is a true Buckeye who deserved some recognition & should have been mentioned at that rally.
